Drake Basil - The Charmed Adept
Bio:
Name: Drake Basil
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Originally straight without a desire to have sex, he is currently Charmed (Is devoted entirely to the object of his attention.)
Species: Human
Appearance: Drake is rather typical for a boy his age, if a little on the childish looking; having yet to shed his baby fat. He has a dark skin tone, with a light smattering of freckles upon his cheeks and temples, his hair a chocolate brown that is just long enough to be inconvenient, but too short to be tied back or otherwise meaningfully styled without resorting to a mullet or similar, which is why he usually just wears it down. His eyes are a dark swampy green and his pupils have been noted to become a pink heart-shape when in his Charmed state.
He can usually be found in his school uniform, given that he lives on campus. This ensemble consists of a thick baby blue blazer, covering a pitch black dress shirt, with a long red and blue striped necktie in a tight Windsor knot. Below the waist, he wears a pair of black slacks held up by a brown leather belt with one small pouch at each hip, usually holding small spell catalysts. His shoes are a neatly polished pair of black leather shoes with tapered ends and short black laces, tied into a neat single knot.
Personality: Drake is an driven and amicable boy, cheeky and friendly in a charming, boyish way that can easily fit him into casual social settings, though he is somewhat shy around those he doesn't know. While unrepentant when teasing and joking, he is empathetic to others, though usually chooses to remain blind to romance, due to inexperience and a lack of desire to immerse himself in the complicated mess that is teenage romance.
These days, he has developed a fanatical devotion and obsession with one specific person, the object of his Charm.
Likes: Drake likes flowers, warm places, books and magic. He loved his family, especially his older sisters, to the point where he would cling to them when they were all younger. That's a point of embarrassment for him nowadays. He can occasionally be found scribbling plot ideas on the edge of his notes, though it's hard to tell whether he prefers book writing or playwriting.
Dislikes: Drake hates being forced to do anything, curses, horror films and jocks. Especially the last one, he doesn't like jocks, at all.
Backstory: Drake is the youngest son of the family Basil, with two older sisters who became a psychologist and an athlete, respectively. Drake, however, always possessed a gift for the magical arts. Not prodigious, but talented enough for his parents to be happy to send him off to a boarding school in order to hone his gift. Far from his family but never out of touch, he proved to be an average student, perhaps slightly above, easily filling into the crowd of students that were easily forgotten by others after their academic journey was over.
Majors: Elemental magic (Water, Wind), Healing magic, Transmutation magic.
Minors: Debilitating magic, Elemental magic (Earth), Curses.
Other: Drake's trigger for state-swapping is a verbal phrase, though seeing it written down will partially trigger a swap.
For the sake of this roleplay, you will have to choose a few Majors and Minors for your character/s. These are simply what they are good at and what they are bad at, in terms of magic. For example, Drake sucks at curses and is more likely to fall victim to one than others, but he is good at and resistant to Elemental magic, especially Wind and Water.
Also, remember that while I don't do smut, I have nothing against being racy or implying it.
Scenarios:
1. You and Drake have been friends for years. Whether you met in kindergarten, primary school or maybe even the earliest years of middle school, you've known each other for quite a while now. He's been a steadfast friend and companion for most of that time, with the two of you becoming as close as two children/teenagers can get.
However, in typical fictional fashion somewhere along the line you began to feel something for him, something you know he doesn't return. That something of course being a crush, which you could even call love with some certainty. Somewhere along the line, the two of you moved from your homes in the countryside to the Prestigious Royal Academy, the premiere magical academy within the country, which also happened to be the ONLY magical academy in the country. Whether you were roommates or simply close regardless, is up to how persuasive you can be to get a teenager to share space, as well as being able to put up with their figurative crap.
Back to romance, try as you might with all of your subtle ploys to try to get him notice without just outright telling him, you simply can't seem to produce results.
It was one bright and sunny afternoon on a Thursday that you discovered... well, an answer, of sorts.
Charm Being.
Well, no one said that telling teenagers to start studying Forbidden Arts was a good idea. The spell caught your eye from a list you had been given by your teacher, though she admitted that she didn't know much about it, mostly due to not wanting to know. Apparently, it was rather simple to cast, though. After some brief research and finishing your project on some instant kill curse or something (Avarill Kadaver or something like that, who really cares?), you found that yes, it really WAS easy to cast.
Simply all you had to do was not be hated by the target, smile at them, incite the words "Charm Being" and touch their neck, then give them a phrase to swap between a Charmed state and their normal personalities. It also required a small sacrifice of their weight in literal gold, but that wouldn't be so hard to come across, given that you could simply transmute some, or call in a favour to have someone else do it for you.
Now, you only did this for research, of course. You would never resort to such low down means to bagging yourself a man, would you?
Yes, you would. After a week of preparation, you Charmed Drake, with everything going perfectly. He stood and stared at you for a few moments before p, with a speed similar to a flash of lightning, he pressed his lips against yours, his pupils a pink heart shape rather than a black circle as he let out a soft moan of delight at his first kiss being cashed in. Your sweet success(?) only lasted a few mere seconds, however, before he was gone nearly as fast as he came on to you, disappearing for the night.
Your worries were eased the next day, when he reappeared back in class, though something was odd... it wasn't his hair, he hadn't changed that since middle school. You couldn't make out the shape of pupils from the other side of the classroom, though... That was it! He wasn't sitting next to you, or even near you. He hadn't not sat next to you since you'd made a really bad joke about his sisters, but even then he'd still smiled at you from across the classroom. This time, though, he just glared at you until you could swear a hole was opening in your head, his cheeks tinted ever so slightly red and a frown on his face, with a look in his eyes that spoke of disgust.
It was strange. You'd definitely used Charm Being on him, so why did this happen. Surely he hadn't broken out of it, right?
What was even more strange was what you heard and saw throughout the day. Dreamy sighs from his direction when you weren't paying attention, subtle glances you only barely noticed from the corner of your vision, his blush glowing occasionally when they went on for too long. However, whenever you looked at him, he'd throw some sort of offensive gesture your way, ranging from swearing to an erect middle finger and childish taunts. You don't think you'd seen him this mad, ever.
After the school day was over, you were walking down the hall to your room, when you came face to face with Drake, who looked at you fro a second before his face shifted into a scowl.
"What the hell do you want?"
(Note, this one is more fun if your character has a conscience.
Also, tell me what the trigger phrase is. It has to be an actual word and preferably not a really obscure or complex one. "Supercalifrgalisticexpialadocious" doesn't make for the best phrase.)
1 1/2. As above, but the charm actually works as intended. Personally, I find this less fun, but to each their own.
2. Make it up, standard faire.
