Tristan

Something had to have happened in that tent. It didn't make any sense. No matter how hard I tried to think about it, I just couldn't understand why my once vibrant and bubbly wife turned quiet and withdrawn.

When we arrived back at the hotel, she made no effort to talk to me. We shared a brief kiss but it was as good as empty and right after that she walked into the bathroom, leaving me without as much as an invite or something other than the disturbing silence.

Now I was currently sipping my third glass of wine on the terrace whilst trying to think of where I might have gone wrong. I wanted to be with her so bad. There was this nagging ache in my chest whenever we were far apart like this. But I wasn't going to pry or push her to talk to me, I read somewhere that women liked their space in times like this.

I stared down at the liquid content sloshing about in my glass. She did say her period was on the way and though I didn't believe her at first I was starting to think she might have been telling the truth. PMS wasn't it?

I reached for my phone and typed into my Google search bar.

What to do when your girlfriend has PMS.

A million answers popped on my screen. I scrolled, reading random answers.

"When your girlfriend is premenstrual, she might be feeling a lot more emotional or agitated than normal. Help relax her by running her a nice hot bath, massage her shoulders, or even meditating with her. Doing so will help put her at ease."

I scrolled up some more.

"Feed her as much as you can. Donuts, coffee, ice cream, pizza, samosas--whatever she's in the mood for."

Another scroll.

"Do not spring into action until she tells me she is PMSing."

A few more scrolls and I dropped my phone. I couldn't do this. I ran a hand through my hair and exhaled deeply. I couldn't just continue to stand here knowing something was wrong.  It just didn't feel right doing so.

I tilted my glass, drained it, and set it aside. I was just going to go in and test the waters, if she said she still didn't want me then I'd leave and give her space even if it'd hurt me.

Determined, I walked back into the suite. The lights were dimmed and it was empty save for the black sheer nightgown lying on the bed. The shower still ran. Was it better if I waited out here? I contemplated the odds for several seconds. For all I knew she was hiding from me in there, and I could use a shower myself. I pulled my shirt free from my pants and dragged it over my head as I walked to the bathroom and entered. It wasn't locked from the inside. It was a good sign.

It scented like roses in here and the glasses were all fogged from the running steamy water. As I stepped forward, I could see the silhouette of her hourglass figure through the shower's clouded glass. Sienna naked was one thing, but Sienna naked and wet...I could feel my cock starting to grow in my pants as the compelling need to place her against that glass and fuck her brutally overwhelmed me. But fuck, this wasn't about my carnal cravings, this was about finding out why my girl had been somber all day.

I took the last bits of my clothing off and opened the shower door, she stopped and turned and released a light gasp, her hazel eyes widening. She'd been so lost in thoughts she didn't know when I stepped into the bathroom.

"What are you doing here?" She finally spoke, shifting back.

I closed the door behind me and stood underneath the shower, letting it beat down my skin. I suppose I could pretend that everything was all right and just fuck her straight away, the thought did occur, but no. "We need to talk."

Her beautiful eyes skimmed over my arms and chest and the flare in her cheeks when she looked lower didn't go unnoticed by me. She cleared her throat. "We can talk when I get out."

I objected gruffly. "No, we'll talk now."

She bit the inside of her cheeks, looking at everything else but me. "I need my privacy."

Privacy?

I huffed. "I have seen and tasted every inch of you, Sienna, you have nothing to hide from me."

"That's not what I meant." She snapped, cheeks heating.

I inclined my head. God, I wanted to kiss her so badly. "Then what did you mean?"

Her throat bobbed as she swallowed.  "I need my privacy to think."

I arched a brow dubiously. "About what?"

She went quiet, and something about her silence set me on the edge. "About what, Sienna?" I pressed but she just continued to remain silent, unnerving me. I stepped closer to her and gave her a hard stare. "Sienna I am trying my hardest to understand you but you aren't making it easy for me."

She sighed softly. "I need to think about a lot of things, about us..."

My chest tensed. "Us?"

"Yes us."

Unsettled, I asked. "What about us?"

"Let's talk later okay, I need to shower." She said and turned around to reach for her body wash but I wasn't having it. I spun her around, pressed her against the wall, and planted both my hands on the wall above her head.

She blinked, her breasts heaving as she sucked in air. "What are you doing?"

"Are you mad at me?"

She was silent.

For fuck sake! I bit my tongue to hold in my curse. "Princess, talk to me, did I do something wrong?" Maybe I might have made a mistake along the line, this whole concept was still very new to me.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Tristan."

"Then why are you freezing me out?"

She exhaled. "I'm not freezing you out."

"Really, because ever since the stroll,  you've been acting strange and ignoring me."

When she went quiet again, my jaw clenched. At this point, my frustration was already starting to get the best of me. Did she expect me to read her mind or something?

"I wasn't trying to ice you out okay," she started after an eternity of silence. "I just needed time to think about some stuff and I didn't want to talk to you about it because you wouldn't understand."

"Try me."

"It's no use."

"I'll decide that," I said, deadpan. "Talk."

She took a deep breath. "The fortune teller..." She trailed off and averted her gaze. "She told me that you were...going to hurt me."

I stilled.

What?

"I know what you're thinking." She added quickly, looking at me. "It's stupid and I'm even more stupid for letting my mind spin with something as absurd as that but she just sounded so convincing."

Seriously?

I wanted to laugh. That was it? "That's what this is about? What a total stranger told you about me?"

She sighed. "Don't say it like that."

"Like what? That you ignored me all this time because of some crap a lady told you about me?"

"She looked like she knew what she was talking about."

A hot cord tightened in my stomach. "So what? You think I would hurt you?"

She let out a breath. "I never said you would. Look I'm just overwhelmed and confused by everything."

"What else did she tell you?" I demanded in frustration but she looked away in hesitation, inflaming me further. "What else did she fucking tell you, Sienna?" I snapped, my voice frosty.

She complied. "She said something about babies."

"Babies?" Christ. "You've gotta be kidding me, Sienna." That was not even possible.

She glared at me. "Don't be a dick about this, Tristan."

"A dick?" I choked back the bitter laugh that fought its way to the surface. "I'm the one who got iced out all day because my girlfriend decided to believe the shit she heard from a random nutjob in the streets."

She exhaled a deep breath."You don't understand."

"And apparently you don't trust me," I shot tersely.

"I never said I don't trust you."

"That is exactly what your actions showed."

She flared. "For the love of God, would you honestly blame me if I didn't? So what if I believed for a second that you would actually hurt me? You're not exactly a saint when it comes to that department."

Her words, as true as they may be, were a stab to my chest. "I know I'm not a saint, I never claimed I was one. I have hurt you, I have apologized for it and I have promised to spend my life making up for it. I have been trying my hardest to change for you, Sienna, and I just wished you would have a little faith in me."

Her eyes immediately softened. "Tristan," she placed her hand on my chest. "It's not—"

"Forget it." I cut her, pulling away. I couldn't do this. I opened the glass door and stepped out.

She sucked in a sharp breath behind me. "Wait, where are you going?"

I snatched my pants off the floor, ignoring her as I walked to the door. I wasn't angry, I was disappointed, and I didn't care if I had the right to be.

"Tristan." She called behind me, her voice already wavering. I knew it wasn't the right thing to do walking out on her like that but I just couldn't stand her presence. "I need privacy," I answered crossly and slammed the bathroom door shut without as much as looking at her.
