Rulers who were ahead of time
First of all, it is good to say that the history of India is so ancient and extensive that it may not be possible for anyone alone to know or tell the complete history of India.
Today independent India entered 75 years. On this auspicious day today, we pay our respects to all those revolutionaries who gave their all to achieve this freedom.
India is a historical country. Many rulers have come, ruled and gone in the pages of history. Here are some rulers who were ahead of their time in many ways.
ASHOKA
First comes the name of Magadha Emperor Ashoka. The third emperor of the Maurya dynasty is Emperor Ashoka.
Ashoka during his reign propagated a new and unorthodox policy which he named Dhamma. This Dhamma was not Buddhism; it was entirely his own invented principles.By this policy he gave moral education to the common man, stopped the practice of sacrifice animals in the name of worship and on the other hand it was also a political policy.
By this policy he banned public gatherings without official permission. Violation of this policy was punishable up to death. This policy highlighted his public welfare activities.
By this policy he strengthened the centralized system of governance of the Magadha Empire. But according to many historians this policy was one of the major reasons for the downfall of the Maurya dynasty. Maybe the people of those days could not understand the real importance of this Dhamma policy. But this is how Ashoka was ahead of his time.
ILTUTMISH
Founder of Delhi Sultanate, Iltutmish was the father of Rajia Sultan. In the era where Women means weakest creature who cannot even go out of the house, during that period he nominated his daughter as the successor of Delhi Sultanate.
His achievements did not end here as it was during his tenure that the Delhi Sultanate became independent from foreign Muslim rule.
Today's Delhi which is our aan-baan-shaan, he was the one who helped to establish it. He made Delhi the political, administrative and cultural center of Turkish rule.
It is true that his politics were not very strong. Historians have criticized his political structure. Yet he was a visionary ruler whose thinking was far ahead of his time.
MUHAMMAD BIN TUGLAQ
Hearing the name Muhammad bin Tughluq brings to mind a man of eccentric behavior. But if we look at the history, it will be known that he was a scholar in various subjects. This sultan who ascended the throne of the Delhi Sultanate in 1325 was perhaps the most competent and educated ruler of the Middle Ages.
Its conventional silver coinage had to be discontinued because it was unacceptable to the general public, but if it had continued, India would have profited a few years later when silver collapsed throughout the world.
The real reason for shifting the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad was to protect the Sultanate from Mongol invasion.
Yes it is true that he had a character flaw, his eccentricity. If he had acted in a well-planned, calm mind, he might have become the greatest Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate.
Many more such names can be found in the history, I may not know all of them. But I will try to learn more about this in the future.
~Thank you ❤
Happy Independence Day 🇮🇳
