TWO
TWO
Sarika Yadav shot up from her bed with a jolt, her eyes adjusting to the darkness, turning her head to the left to see on her clock that the time was four o'clock in the morning.
Her ears picked up the soft sound of tapping which caused a flush of panic to flood through her body, scrambling out of her soft and heavenly bed, her feet hitting the cold floor causing her to gasp.
Her soft hands grabbed a hold a of metal baseball bat, wrapping around the handle as tight as she could, tiptoeing steadily through her home in order to investigate the sound, following it all the way to her front door.
"AHHHHHHH!"
Pato, her neighbor screamed at the top of his lungs as the front door to Sarika's home swung open, a metal bat heading straight for his head as he froze, his eyes widening to the size of saucers.
The Yadav woman suddenly dropped the bat, a glare upon her tired face, her hand shooting to cover the mouth of the man before her since he was still screaming.
"Are you out of your mind?!"
Sarika stared accusingly at the young man before her, slowly lowering her hand from his mouth, wiping it on to her pyjamas with a grimace, her eyebrows stitched together in to a glare.
Her body shivered as the cold air entered her home, causing the woman to grab a warm jacket from her coat stand, slipping in to a pair of shoes to keep her feet somewhat warm. Goosebumps licked at her skin, covering her whole body as the coldness hit her.
"You tried to hit me with a bat!"
"You're knocking on my door at four o'clock in the morning!"
The two raised their voices at one another, accusing tones evident within their screams, with Sarika harshly lifting her baseball bat up, placing it underneath the others chin.
"What are you doing here! What possessed you to come and knock on my door in the middle of the night!" Sarika hissed, her nostrils flaring with anger, a flicker of hatred passing through her eyes.
"I came to ask for help!" Pato gasped, raising the both of hands up in to the air, too scared to move his face in case that she hit him with the bat.
"For what?"
"Reversing!"
Sarika stared at the man with a dumbfounded look in her dark eyes, her hand moving to grab the door, slamming it in his face without saying a word.
The jacket was hung back up on to her coat stand, her shoes kicked off her feet as she returned to her bedroom, her head shaking from side to side.
Why on earth did he think that it was a good idea to knock on her door at four o'clock in the morning to ask for her help in reversing his car?
Was he that stupid?
Pato reluctantly removed himself from her doorstep, moving towards his car which was at a strange angle on the concrete that was a shared driveway for multiple houses within the street.
The Mexican man released a deep breath as he tried to calm himself, determined that he could do it by himself, his hands shaking slightly.
He could totally do it.
"Move before I break your bones and steal your car."
Sarika glared at the man with distaste, fury running through her veins, her body now full dressed in clothes that would keep her warm, since it had not been pleasant knowing that Pato had seen her in her pyjamas.
"Yes, ma'am." Pato spoke, his tone rushed and panicked, his eyes filled with a little bit of fear towards her as he quickly exited his car, moving out of her way.
He was surprised that she had come to help him.
Within nine seconds, his car was parked properly, with the engine having already been turned off, his car door closed, his keys being offered out to him by an extended arm.
"Let's keep this to daytime hours from now. You got that?" Sarika pointed her finger harshly towards the young man, her face stern and full of discipline.
She looked quite scary, he thought.
Sarika nodded her head in satisfaction at having seen him instantly agree, her feet moving her back towards her home where she could finally fall back asleep.
The Indian woman knew that he would fall for her teacher stare from now on, which she was definitely going to have to use again, she could tell.
"Gracias!"
Pato shouted after her before she could slam her front door shut, his eyes noticing a single thumbs up being pointed in his direction, a small breath of relief leaving his lips.
He reminded himself that if he wanted to go out in the middle of the night, then he had to walk, because there was absolutely no way that he was doing that again.
"Note to self... she's scary as shit."

Sarika woke up to yet another knock on her door, though thankfully, it seemed to be a lot later in the morning.
Her door was pulled harshly open, expecting to come face to face with her next door neighbor, but instead, she was met with a giant bouquet of flowers.
The flowers were moved out of the way to show two bright smiling faces, two that she absolutely adored, with Sarika moving her body out of the way so they could enter her home, kissing their cheeks as they passed her.
"You didn't tell me that you were coming." Sarika smiled in delight, her mood completely lifting at the sight of her favorite human beings.
"That's called a surprise, my dear."
Rishi Yadav grinned in happiness at having seen his daughter, his arms wrapping around her frame to give her a loving hug, figuring that she needed one, having presumably been bored with nobody around to keep her company.
"What's with the flowers?"
"You tell us, they were already on your doorstep when we arrived."
Lakshmi Yadav giggled as she rushed to hug her daughter, her face having been surprised from the flowers, since they were a very nice bouquet of beautiful different flowers. Her lips pressed softly against the both of her daughters cheeks, having missed her little girl.
"I have no idea." Sarika furrowed her eyebrows together in confusion, examining the bouquet but finding no card, a hunch in her gut that she would never speak on.
"How has it been? Is it nice out here? The weather is beautifully sunny." Rishi spoke, having loved the whole journey to his daughters home, the sun having been shining, with clear blue skies.
"It's good, nice and peaceful and I feel like I can finally relax and de stress as soon as I step through the door, it's paradise." Sarika smiled with content, moving to put the flowers in a vase of water so that they didn't die, offering her parents a drink, the pair opting for sparkling water.
"I know that you struggled with your old job, you did so much extra work and never got the money or the praise that you deserved." Lakshmi muttered, knowing just how hard her daughter worked, having spent a lot of money to help give the people she was teaching, what they deserved.
That was the kind of human being Sarika was.
She was one of the most kind hearted and caring people in the world, her mind and her heart always being open to helping others, no matter what it cost her.
All her parents wanted was for her to be happy.
Truly happy.
And she wasn't, at least, not yet.
