Chapter Eight
~Time Skip~
*Your P.O.V.*
I was in big trouble, and I knew it. Coach had asked me to come into her office that day, and it was no question on what it was about. I knew my Japanese grade was plummeting, even if I was in a first-year class, but I couldn't help it. I was barely fluent in the language.
I kept my head down as I went through the halls. A couple people glanced my direction, and anyone looking at me during this time caused me to go into a complete panic.
Play it cool, (Y/N). It isn't that bad, yet. You still have time to get it up. You and her both know that.
I walked up to her door, scared to knock, but I couldn't just stand outside of it either. I took a deep breath, gently knocking.
"Come in," my coach said through the door.
"Hello," I sheepishly said to her.
"(Y/N), I'm glad you're here. Do you know why I asked to see you?" she asked.
"Grads?" I questioned.
A kind smile formed on her face, but it gave me an unsettling vibe.
"Exactly," she commented. "Now, I'm not here to yell at you. Your grades are actually better than normal, but—"
"Japanese?" I questioned.
"Well, yes, you are very close to failing," she commented. "Accumulatively, you need that grade to match your other ones...I heard you joined the boys team practice last week?"
Here we go...
"Yes ma'am," I confirmed.
"Until this grade is up, I cannot let you continue to spend your free time like this, do you understand?" she clarified.
I let out a sigh. "Yes, I understand. I'll get the grade up."
"Perfect, you're too bright to be getting sidetracked like this, (Y/N). I'll be letting Takeda that you are not to be at their practices until further notice. Just know that I am doing this for your future," she stated.
"I understand, thank you," I told her, bowing my head slightly.
"Good, now go get ready for practice," she told me.
I gave her a small smile before leaving and heading to practice.
"Oh look, it's (Y/N)," I heard a voice call behind me.
I turned to see Suga and Daichi down the hall. Instantly, I hid my gloomy face and sent them a smile.
"Just get out of coaches office?" Daichi asked.
"Yes sir," I said with fake enthusiasm.
"(Y/N), what's wrong?" Suga asked.
"Grades?" Daichi added.
I let out a sad laugh, "I'm so tired of you being on that, too. How do you always know?"
"Well...you aren't the most studious," Suga quietly added.
"How bad?" Daichi asked.
"Not bad, yet, and I'm not going to let it get bad," I assured them.
"Do you need any help?" Daichi asked.
"I'm gonna get it on my own but thank you, and when that grade is up, catch me at practice, showing up Tanaka," I told them.
They both gave me a reassuring smile.
"I wouldn't expect anything else from you," Daichi smiled.
"If you need anything, just let us know," Suga said.
"We mean that, too," Daichi added.
I couldn't help but smile to the both of them. They were always there to watch over me, and I couldn't be more grateful for it.
"Thank you, guys. I'll be back soon," I reassured them.
"I hope so, but we better get going. You have practice, and we have weight training, see you late?" Daichi asked.
"Of course," I smiled to them.
We then went our separate ways. I went to practice, but my mind was focused on my grades.
