23. Beginning of the Hell Life
Blake's POV:
My chest starts heaving in an irregular fashion and my veins pop out in anger. My blood starts boiling with the thought of my nerve-wracking family having thoughts of France, the place where my girl is living peacefully.
"Elaborate," I demand, giving him the deadliest glare. He knows I won't compromise a thing when it comes to her. If someone thinks of harming her even in their thoughts then I'll rip open their brains. If someone dares touch her, I'll burn them alive. I'm not the same old Blake, I won't sit by and watch someone touching her let alone harm her.
"I only know the meeting is about France. If you want to know the details. Come and learn them yourself."
I walk over to the cupboard and grab a black shirt. It instantly drenches into the sweaty liquid which makes it weirdly stick to my body. I don't care about buttoning up the shirt and changing into pants from joggers. Draining all the water left in the bottle on my head, I shake my head a few times and exit my room with Andrew to the study room.
"Look who's here?!" A familiar voice that stings my ear and boils my blood echoes in the study room.
"Keep that mouth shut of yours if you want to keep talking," I warn the sinner of my girl. Luca. He smirks but shuts his mouth. He knows I'm not in my right mind and nothing can stop me from beating the crap out of him. He fears me, or at least I think he does.
"Son, he is your cousin. No fighting within the family, remember?" My father taunts politely, making me give him the death glare he deserved.
"Stop with your family drama and get to the point," I say, getting extremely annoyed. Nothing makes me angrier than standing here with the ones who hurt my girl and forced me to let her go for her sake. They are the reason for my miserable and vulnerable life. If someone is to blame for my monstrous actions then it's them. If only mom didn't beg me to not become a killer of my own family, I'd have killed them by now.
"We've to go to France," Luca says excitedly. I stride towards him and hold him by his neck.
"Don't you dare go there!" I bark at him, tightening my grip on his neck, closing all the muscles. I can see color slowly draining from his face which makes me laugh like the maniac I have become. I'm enjoying looking at him struggling so much that I don't realize Andrew and my father are trying to pry my hands off his neck and they both manage to do so. Luca coughs and pants for air while Andrew keeps me in place from the back.
"Listen first," Andrew speaks into my ear.
"There's this guy who works for intelligence in France and we have to trace him. He's got some information on us regarding the previous gun smugglings we had with the dealer in France. This guy has been trying to dig up some information on us and according to our Intel, he has got some important ones. Here's the file. It contains all the information about him." My father hands me the file and continues to speak, "He works in disguise and no one's ever seen his real face, not even his colleagues and he goes by the code name 'Gutsy Beast'. He is extremely clever and we only know this much. As to where he lives and about his family we are yet to find it."
"That sounds like the perfect way of killing time." I sneer and plop down on the sofa and let my legs rest on the glass table.
"Andrew, Luca..." Uncle Robbin momentarily pauses and looks at me before continuing, "And Blake, you three are gonna carry out this mission. And you are leaving tomorrow."
"Luca is not going to France." I retaliated coz I can't risk my girl's life again. I'm sure she has forgotten me by this time and I don't plan to bring any of the painful memories back to her. She's happy I know, I've been keeping track of her bracelet's data. She is living the life she deserves, a peaceful one.
"He is going and that's final. If you have a problem then you can stay here." My father says sternly.
"Fine. But I swear if you dare to do something you are not supposed to then I will kill you in ways that you've never imagined." I warn Luke while shooting daggers at him and then start walking towards the door. I won't let this jerk get anywhere near my girl. If he's going then I must go and protect her. This time I'm not gonna let anyone hurt her.
"Oh, by something I'm not supposed to do, do you by chance mean that I should stay away from your girl?" Luca smirks and his snarky question makes me turn around and within a second his throat is clawed by my hands.
"Don't you dare take her name or even think of her, you son of a bitch!" I yell and he claws his hand over mine in desperate need of oxygen.
"Blake, you'll kill him. Leave him." Andrew's voice sounds faint to me as I'm busy enjoying his body being deprived of oxygen. His eyes slowly start rolling back and closing, so I stop. I won't be giving this motherf****r such an easy death. I'll kill him one day but slowly and painfully. I'll make him beg for me to kill him.
"Enough both of you. If you keep this up then Blake you are staying here." My father groans in frustration. I stomp out of the study and tread to my room.
Melissa's POV:
I don't understand how but days have been passing really fast. Seems like being busy doesn't really allow you to count time. My life has changed completely and for good. I've been promoted to a full-time worker in the library and Ella's cafe is running smoothly. She doesn't really have a hard time engaging with customers and how can she? She's such a friendly girl. Everyone enjoys her company and maybe that's the reason why her cafe is always flooded with people, especially young boys.
"Honey, can you set up the table please?" Mom asks from the kitchen.
"Okay, I'm on it," I answer her while placing the cutleries on the dining table.
My dad is finally back after work. His import-export business seems to work quite well and keeps him busy almost throughout the year. So mom has invited me and Ella for dinner.
"Hey, sweetheart. Can I do something?" Dad's voice fills my ear and I instantly turn around.
"Oh my gosh! I have missed you so much, dad!" I cry out loud in excitement. He quickly hugs me and makes me sit on the chair while he crouches in front of me.
"I missed you too, sweetheart." He takes my hand in his and looks me in the eye with the pure emotion of love and care.
"Your daughter came long back but you are coming now. What kinda work is so important that you didn't even get time to meet me early?" I complain and cross my hands at my chest. I know I should be understanding and not complain but then again this has become a routine. He is not home for months and when he comes back and we think he is gonna stay then he has to leave again. Sometimes, we had to cancel the picnic plans at the last minute because of his work.
"Sweetheart, you know I wanted to come. I tried but I had to stay there. The business is expanding and I had so much to do. I'm sorry."
"I know dad. I'm sorry for acting like a child. You know I love you, right?"
"Yeah, sweetie I know and I love you more." He plants a soft kiss on my forehead before standing up and taking a seat beside me.
"We're back!" Rose and Ella shout in unison, making dad and I turn around to them. Rose and Ella have gotten closer with time. They both hang out with each other every weekend. Sometimes I join but other times I prefer being a home buddy.
"You know, Ella bought me my favorite red velvet cake." Rose jumps in excitement and I show her my hungry eyes.
"It's only mine. I won't share." Rose turns to the side and points her tongue at me.
"Okay okay, don't share," Ella tells her and walks with her to the table, and helps her get seated.
I introduce Ella and my dad to each other and then after having dinner with lots of talks, Ella and I drive back to our place. The ride takes about twenty minutes and we both crash onto the bed as soon as we arrive.
After five days:
"Mel, Mel, Mel. You know what?" Ella screams and holds my hands to swirl me around.
"Slow down girl. At this rate, I'm gonna pass out." I remind her to stop spinning us and I give her a baffling look as she stops but doesn't say a word.
"Ella? You were saying something." I ask her out of concern.
"Oh, sorry. The room kept spinning so I... anyways, you know yesterday there was this guy, actually, he has been coming here for a few days. I mean -"
"Okay stop. I don't understand a thing you say. It's about a guy, I get it. Now tell me everything in detail and slowly." We both get seated and I place my elbow on the table and my face in my hands while I listen to her story.
"Okay, so I think two days back this guy came to the cafe for the first time and he was insanely handsome, especially his malachite eyes. All the girls in the cafe drooled over him but I kept my stance and gave him the coldest possible look. You know, ways of attracting a guy." She winks at the end and continues speaking.
"I caught him glimpsing at me every now and then but he didn't say anything. Later he left after having his coffee and I didn't expect him to come the next day. He placed his same order and kept glancing over me. And then he asked my name and complimented me on the cafe management." She stops and gulps down half a glass of water before continuing.
"So, after that, we exchanged our name and number. And after talking to him for like three days I feel like I've started to love him. He is just my type. He's got everything, looks, personality, he is caring and a student in business management but his family already has this business which he is the only heir to, basically he is rich. Not that I care about money, but having some bank balance doesn't do you any harm, does it?" She stops and takes a deep breath and looks at me searching for some response.
"So...are you dating?" I ask the most obvious question and she nods a yes while biting her lower lip.
"I'm happy for you. But Ella give time, don't rush. You might as well want to know more about him before going all out, don't you?" I suggest to her and place my hand over hers on the table.
"Yeah, that's why I'm telling you about this. He has invited me to a party tomorrow in a club. We can hang out together and you can meet him there."
"Ella, you know parties are not my thing. I'm sor-"
"Mel, for me, please. Just one day, at least one hour." Ella requests with puppy eyes which I cannot resist so I nod.
"Thank you, I love you so much." Ella jumps from her seat and hugs me. Her habit of hugging when she's happy doesn't seem to cease.
"Tomorrow is going to be so exciting!" She exclaims and claps both her hands.
"Sure it will be." I sigh, thinking of how I'm gonna survive this party.
I knew that party wasn't my thing
and if only I didn't go,
then none of the things going to happen would be happening.
