The girl stood at the end of town, her cloak hugged tightly around her chest in the autumn breeze. She didn't feel cold, but she didn't enjoy the wind either. After a few seconds scanning the horizon, she started to run. What ran and ran, with little steps at first but soon with great giant leaps. The villagers looked at her with contempt, until she flashed them a smile. She was a slow runner and not very athletic, so by the time Harpy fought her, she was out of breath and definitely a while away from the palace.
"Corrine! The Choosing is in less then an hour. What were you doing out here!" Harpy exclaimed the worry in her voice just for the show of the people.
Corrine sighed "sorry mother,"
"Apology accept, but let's get you to the palace now."
Harpy tugged the girl into the palace and into a separate room, threw some clothes at her then left.
Corrine sighed at the sight of armor. Why would she need it, why was she here in the first place. No matter she thought and got dressed quickly, but just to spite her mother the kept on the silver band she wielded onto her wrist. Brisa I'll find you someday sister she thought, as a servant entered the room.
"Beautiful dear," the servant sighed.
"Hi....uh what's your name? Don't want to call you something your not." Corrine trailed off looking out the window.
"Oh! Uh Alice," The servant said perking up immediately, "that was very kind of you."
"Yeah well I'm not my mother," Corrine said with contempt, "are we ready to go?"
Alice nodded and led Corrine out the door. The passed large hallways, and made sharp turns throughout the palace until they came to a small door, old and worn with age a few feet a head.
"Thank you Alice," Corrine nodded her head, Alice nodded back.
"You can walk the rest of the way I'm sure. Good luck Corrine, you would make a fine and nice queen," Alice said and turned around and left.
Corrine smiled weakly and started walking towards the door, she picked up her pace, until she bumped into someone.
"I am incredibly sorry! I'm so blind," she said picking herself up off the ground before taking a look at who she bumped into.
"You seemed to have ripped your dress, my apologies," he said scincerly.
"Aw don't apologize, I rather enjoy spitting my mother-er" she trailed off look at the brown eyed man.
He chuckled. "Caleb, Nice to meet you."
"Corrine, a pleasure," Corrine responded in a mock sort of way.
"Ouch, are you mocking me?" Caleb asked, a mock-pout on his face.
"Why of course was it not obvious?" She responded, a mischievous smirk played out on her lips.
"My, my, ambitious are we? I like talking to you." Caleb said before winking and walking off.
"What an ass," Corrine mock whispered about the boys attitude .
"I heard that!"
"I was planning on it," and with that Corrine entered the room.
