Chapter Three: Back To School

Hau lost two times against Miracle but he's still happy as ever, "I lost, but I had fun battling you, Miracle!"

I'm glad he had fun 'cause I didn't.
Tiko got paralyzed and I embarrassed Litten twice.
Not exactly what I would call a fun time.

Hala nods and looks up at the sky, "It was a great battle, I'm sure even Tapu Koko enjoyed it."

A loud cry echoes above the town, Hala laughs, "Ho ho! You heard it yourself, Tapu Koko's song of approval!"

He walks over to Miracle, "I almost forgot to give you this." He hands her a white bracelet with diamond shaped indents in it.

"What is it?" Miracle asks, placing it on her wrist.

"It's a Z-ring. It can draw out the power of your Pokémon. We Kahunas make them by refining stones like the one you received from Tapu Koko. Although, you won't be able to draw out your Pokémon's Z-power until you collect more Z-crystals on your island challenge." He stops to think, "It seems Tapu Koko has taken a liking to you, or maybe it has a mission for you."

"All the more reason for you to get started on your island challenge," Kukui states.

"Island challenge?" Miracle asks.
This girl came here and wanted a Pokémon and doesn't know what the island challenge is?
What're you doing, Miracle?

"Four Islands! You will travel to each of the four islands in the Alola region. The goal of the island challenge is to be the strongest trainer, the island challenge champion. Woo!"

Hau smiles, "Sounds pretty great right? I can't wait to go on a real adventure!"

"I'll tell you all about the island challenge sometime later." Kukui says, walking away.

We leave Iki Town with some compliments about our battle, but of course, we can't quite leave yet.

"Miracle," Lillie says quietly

"Oh, hi, Lillie." She says happily until she notices how nervous Lillie looks, "Is something wrong?"

She looks down at her bag, and shakes her head, "It's about Nebby, I want to-"

Kukui waves to us, "Hey you two, I suppose it's time I get you back home."

Lillie nods, "Then I suppose this is goodbye."

"I thought you wanted to tell me something."

"Oh. Uh, I'll tell you tomorrow or when we met again."

She walks away and Miracle chuckles to herself, "Well, that was overly dramatic."

(Time skip to the next night because no one wants to read about going home.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This night was great!
Miracle's mom, her name is Sadie, made us all breakfast, it was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten!
And because of that delicious breakfast, I'm in a somewhat good mood.
Kinda.
Maybe not but, it was a nice thought.
After that, Tiko and I did a bit of evening training, which is good for the Pikipek to burn off some energy.
Turns out, Miracle isn't a new trainer. Yet, she has no idea what an Island Challenge is.
Banjo is her Sceptile, her starter from the Hoenn region.
She told me she brought him here as a way for him to take a break from his other team members, which are all girls.
Maybe Banjo needs more girls in his life, you never know.
As we come back inside there is another knock on the door, most likely Kukui.
"I'll get it!" Miracle yells, dashing to the door, "Lillie?"
I don't know what she's so confused, Kukui knocks, then lets himself in.
Why does he knock if he's just gonna-
My head hurts...
"What're you doing here?" Miracle asks.
"Uh, Professor Kukui said," She clears her throat and tries to pull off her best Kukui impression, "'Hey, there, Lillie. Bring me that shining new trainer, woo!'"
Ehh, it was alright.
Lillie smiles nervously, "So, I'm here to take you to the lab."
Miracle jumps of the porch, "Finally! I was getting bored."
Tiko flies over and sits on her shoulder, sighing contently, "Ahh! Nothing like having your own moving tree."
I frown, "She's not a tree Tiko, she's your Trainer; if you wanted a moving tree you could always find an Exeggutor or Sudowoodo."
He makes a strange clicking noise with his beak, "I know. I didn't mean it literally."
I don't believe him for a second.
Before we can leave, Sadie stops us.
She gives Miracle some pocket money and then sends us on our way.
I don't think sending your daughter away with some random girl is the best idea.
But what do I know?
I'm just a seal.
"Professor Kukui's lab is down this way." Lillie says, pointing at the run down building near the sea,"It's that beat up building down there."
Miracle stares at it in disapproval, "Uhh, why is it on a random beach out in the middle of nowhere?"
"He lives on the outskirts of town so he can conduct his research better."
"If there are a bunch of Pokémon here, than how do you get through here without having to battle anything?" Miracle asks.
"I use Repels. I always have to make sure I have enough."
"Pew!"
There goes Nebby.
I've always wondered why Nebby can't talk.
Maybe it's because it's kept in a bag all day.
"About what happened yesterday..." Lillie trails off.
"Yeah?"
Lillie looks around to make sure no one is watching before speaking again, "Please don't tell anyone about Nebby."
Miracle smiles and nods, "Of course! It'll be our secret."
Lillie smiles nervously before quickly shuffling away.
Why can't she just walk with us?
I thought she was Miracle's little tour guide or something.
You don't just leave your new friend out in the wild with only a seal and woodpecker to protect her!
I need to stop looking so deep into things.
Miracle looks out at the route and sighs, "It seems that every route is just filled with trainers."
What?
There are only two here...and they're all kids!
"There were only two," Tiko states.
I look at him in confusion, "What?"
I shake my head and waddle after Miracle, "Nothing."
He hops after me, "What? What was it?" A smug smile creeps onto his, "Did I read your mind?"
I roll my eyes but, sadly, I can't hide my smile.
Tiko's smile is irritatingly contagious.
How can I be salty if he's being funny?
While Tiko was trying to get me to smile again, I was watching Miracle try, and fail, to avoid the two kid trainers on the route.
She hasn't seemed to notice that Tiko and I are standing next to Lillie by the lab just waiting for her to get over here.
Lillie looks on in worry, "Is she okay?"
I shrug.
Maybe she's trying to find herself.
I mean, she's flapping her arms around like a bird.
Finally, Miracle makes it over here, "I'm here!" She says, "I did it."
Lillie nods, "Right...uhh, well, here's the lab..."
I sigh as I hear the usual crashing noises from inside the lab.
Miracle's eyes widen in surprise but she says nothing and walks inside.
That's new.
Most trainers I've had would make some joke.
Lillie's innocent mind never got those jokes, though, so they just ended up looking really dumb.
The first thing I see is Kukui's smiling face.
How one man can smile so much is fascinating to my fragile salt filled mind.
"Ah, there's that new trainer!" He exclaims walking over to us, "Thanks for bringing her to me, Lillie."
Lillie nods, "No problem."
Miracle looks around in awe, "This place looks so different from the outside!"
"Thank you!"
Kukui, that wasn't a compliment.
There's that awkward silence again.
"So," Miracle says rocking back and forth on her heels, "Why'd you bring me here?"
"Oh right!" Kukui exclaims, "Hand me your Pokédex for a sec."
She digs into her bag and pulls it out, "Here you go."
He takes the Pokédex and starts tampering with it.
Suddenly, a Rotom flies out of it.
Rotom are truly amazing.
If it were me, I would just scare everyone.
"Whoa," Miracle breathes as it flies around, "There's a Rotom in my Pokédex!?"
Lillie nods, "Rotom is a special Pokémon, known for possessing various machines."
Huh.
With enough dangerous machines, Rotom could take over the world.
"And this here Pokédex makes use of that ability." Kukui says.
Rotom waits patiently for the Professor to finish his work. "Alright, Rotom, this should make you feel more at home."
Rotom willingly back flies into the Pokédex, "Hey, pal!" It says in a robotic voice.
Spooky.
I don't like it.
Miracle grabs the Pokédex, her eyes sparkling, "Oh, that's so cool! It can talk now!"
Cool?
That's not cool.
Its voice is all creepy and robot like.
No, I'm not racist against robots, I just think they have weird and creepy voices.
Miracle and Rotom make small talk until a loud crashing sounds from outside.
There's silence and then, BOOM!
Hau flings the door open, a wide smile plastered on his face. "Man, I've looking all over for you, Miracle!"
But, why?
From what I can tell, Miracle is pretty basic.
No offense to her, but it's true.
(Insert what happens in lab here; I assume we've all played the game)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After that, it's off to Hau'oli city, but not quite.
There's a very angry Tauros blocking the way and it doesn't look like he'll be moving anytime soon.

Why can't we just...ask it politely to move?
I'm sure it could work.
Nevermind, it was a dumb idea, anyways.

"Now what?" Miracle asks, turning to Lillie.
"Um.." Her green eyes land on the nearby trainers school, "We could go to the trainers school, it'll pass the time until someone takes care of Tauros.

Miracle groans, "Ugh, anything but school."

"We could just stand here and wait."
Miracle looks at me and Tiko then shrugs,
"We need to train anyway."

No we don't!
Well, I don't, Tiko does.

They walk up to the school and stare at the door.
Miracle then slams the door open, causing all the children to turn and stare at us.
Lillie gasps softly and shuffles behind Miracle.

Good job, Miracle.
Not only did you interrupt whatever theses kids were doing but you also scared Lillie.
Good. Job.

Chase comes tumbling down the stairs.
Nice to know that he's always there to be a tension breaker.

Chase runs over to us, "What are you doing here?" He pants.
"Well, Lillie and I were heading to Hau'oli city, but there's a Tauros blocking the way, so we came here."

Chase blinks then laughs, "It's just a Tauros."
He won't be saying that when one digs its horns into his skin.

"You only say that because your mother owns like twenty," yells a small girl with blonde pigtails.

Miracle chuckles, "At least I don't have paint in my hair."
"Paint? I don't see any paint." Chase places a hand on his poofy hair. When he removes his hand, black paint is on it.
Chase groans and flops onto the floor, "Man, how am I gonna get this out?"

Miracle smiles mischievously, "Isa can help you."
"How?"
"Water gun."

I spray him with water, much to his dismay, but at least all the paint is gone.

The girl with the pigtails laughs at him and they start fighting.
"Chase, Annie, what's going on and why are you all wet?" The teacher's voice easily breaks up their fight.

They both look at each other then point to Miracle, "It was her!" They say in unison.

Miracle chuckles nervously. "Uh oh, you've done it now," Lillie whispers.

"I was only helping my friend." She insists, "It's just a bit of water."

Ehh.
The water did get on the carpet; maybe the teacher is mad about that.

The teacher places her hand on her hip, "You seem a little old to be at a trainers school."

Annie and Chase chuckle, "She might seem old but she's only a bit taller than us," Annie says.

Heh, she's right.
And, it's kinda sad that it's true.

Miracle blushes with embarrassment, "Coming here was a bad idea, maybe the Tauros is gone?"

The children all cry out in protest: "No, no you can't leave without a battle!"
"Teacher, battle her! She's that new trainer Chase told us about!"

The teacher calms her students then turns to Miracle, "They're right, this is a trainers school and what better way to learn than to watch a battle?"

Annie runs over to her and hands her two Pokéballs.
She didn't even ask if Miracle wanted to fight.

In the first is a Meowth, which Tiko easily took out, to the childrens' disappointment.

The next one is a Magnimite. About three Thundershocks later and the battle is over, with the teacher as the victor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This really did happen to me. I was so salty over losing to a level 8 Magnimite.
