Chapter Forty-Four: A Queen's Fury

I got lost.

How?

I've only gone to this Volcano Park once.
It's not my fault.

Pua said he knew where it was; all he ended up doing is leading us around in circles.

Now, I have no idea where he is.

Everything is going swimmingly.

I can hear him.
Just barely.
But, I don't know where he is!

"Are you lost?"

I whip around.
A Charizard.
Oh, please don't let this be him.

I take a step back, "N-no. I'm not. I'm fine."

His eyes narrow, "You don't look fine."

He looks around, his eyes slowly scanning every inch of land behind me, "Say, you wouldn't have happened to see a Salazzle about yay tall...she's got a large white stripe running down her face? Because her and I need to have a talk."

I kneed my paws on the ground, "I...no. I've never heard of her."

He groans, "I swear if she- UGH!" He takes off into the air without another word.

My heart won't stop pounding in my chest.
The only thing I could feel from him is anger.
No fear, just anger.

Luckily for me, I don't have to worry about that; I have Kapua to do that for me.

Kapua and his random friend.
Aunt.
I think...
Is that how family works?

Violet looks way too terrified.
What did Pua do?
Tell her what I was supposed to tell her?
Eh, wouldn't be all that bad.
I don't really want to break Violet's heart.

Her fear is quickly replaced with happiness when she sees me, "Leafeon!"

Oh, she's so happy.

I guess I can add murderer and life destroyer to my list of accomplishments.

She dashes over to me and hugs me.
She won't let go.
I'm dying!

She lets me go at the last second and smiles eagerly while I gasp for air.

"Where's Nightshade?"

Whelp, so much for breathing.
I look up at her and smile nervously.

Alright, Leafeon, just keep cool. Don't say something stupid.

"She's....sleeping!"

Great!

Pua groans and throws his hat at me, "You had one job, mom! One job!"

Violet stares at him in confusion, "Why is she calling you that?"

"He! I'm a he!" Pua says rudely.

Jeez, what's wrong with him?

Violet chuckles nervously and takes a step back only to trip on her tail.

She's a leader, right?
What kind of leader trips over her own tail!?

She quickly scrambles to get up.
When she sees me and Pua giving her strange looks she blushes in embarrassment, "Oh! Im sorry! I- I was j-..." She trails off thinking of excuses to make.

Wow.
No offense to her but, she's a terrible leader.
She's nice; way too nice.

Her and Nightshade are very different.

If anything, Nightshade should've been leader, not her clumsy, nervous, sister who probably wouldn't hurt anyone.

Pua rolls his eyes and sighs, "Where's your home?"

Violet's eyes light up, "Oh! It's just over there!"

Really?
It was right in front of us!?

"Kapua!" I shout angrily at him, "You said you knew where it was!"

"Don't yell at me!" He yells as his, his eyes begin to fill with tears, "You don't get to yell at me!"

I reach out to him, "Pua-"

He bats my paw away and glares, "You can't touch me either."

Is he sick!?
He was just fine when we left!
He doesn't have to tell Violet-

Oh...
I know what it is.
Another reason as to why Isabelle shouldn't be left around children.

Pua stalks away towards the Volcano Park.

Violet's eyes widen as she watches him walk away, "Why is he so mad?"

I glance at the ground, "I'll explain later."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't think these Salandit have ever experienced something bad happening to them.
They're all chatting and talking...and Prince is there.
Glaring at me.
The one good thing that I'll get out of this is exposing that disgusting piece of dung for the creep he is.
It'll be even better to rip him to shreds myself.
While Prince is trying his hardest to scare me off, Pua is busy hiding with Percy.
If he's not sulking while Percy tries to talk to him, then he's glaring at Prince like he wants to rip his throat out.
But, I can see something else in his eyes that's being covered by anger.
It's fear.
The kind of fear that breaks your heart.
And Prince sees it, too.
He's just smirking.
But he's looking at him like he's a piece of meat.
It makes my blood boil.
If I can kill Wild Spark on accident, then killing this monster on purpose should be easy.
As much as Isabelle likes to believe that a child can truly understand what sex is, because she tells him about it all the time!
He can't.
Not fully understand it.
He's just too young.
If he can't understand that, he can't understand what Prince did to his mother.
Isabelle ruined him faster than Lilo did, or, could.
What other stupid things did she fill his head with?
Apart from telling him he was useless and unwanted.
I get that she hates Pua, but did she really have to say all of that crap to him?
She probably told him he really was a mistake and the proof was in the way he was born.
This kid takes anything anyone says to heart.
Stupid Isabelle!
She needs to learn how to keep her thoughts to herself.
Well, I know what I'm doing when we get to Primarina Island.
"Leafeon?" Violet's soft, worried voice breaks through my thoughts, "Are you okay? You're shaking and digging your claws into the stone..."
I take a look down at my paws.
They flipping hurt!
I'm pretty sure I nearly broke my claws.
Or, it feels like that.
I shake my paw and chuckle nervously, "I'm fine."
Violet looks unconvinced, "Are you sure? Because I can-"
"No, I'm fine, promise."
She smiles and stands there awkwardly.
She's probably wondering where her sister is.
Why not have an audience as well; not like these Salandit have anything better to do.
I've always hated to be in the spotlight, everybody staring at you, judging you, it's terrible.
It's even worse when those staring at you are worried...you can either bring good news or bad news.
Nobody ever wants to hear the bad news.
But it's the only news I have.
Some kid....adult?
I don't know.
Male Salandit age weird.
He's got on a monocle; he looks ridiculous.
He peers at me and looks me up and down, "You're Nightshade's girlfriend."
Thanks Captain Obvious.
Violet pulls him back with her tail, "Stop that, Asher."
He rolls his eyes, "I was only-"
"Stating the obvious." She interrupts him, "Stop being so nosy. You'll scare her off."
"Ugh, fine." He backs off and sits next to Violet, "Where's Nightshade?" He asks again, only with an accusing tone.
Everybody turns to me, their eyes unblinking.
It's extremely unnerving.
Out of the unblinking eyes of Salandit, Lilo's ice blue eyes are staring down at me.
She's sitting in the very back of the crowd with Percy and Kapua.
I sit down, never taking my eyes off of the large group of Salandit and wrap my tail tightly around my paws.
"Where is she?" Asher groans impatiently, "We don't have all day."
Violet covers his mouth with her tail, "I'm so sorry...Asher here just doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut."
I chuckle nervously, "Right...."
"But." She says slowly, "Where's my sister?"
"Um she's uhh..." I quickly look up at Violet.
She knows what I'm going to say.
But I can see a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
I turn my gaze to the ground, "Nightshade is gone." I can feel the tears coming. I quickly blink them away; I can't cry, not while Violet is here.
"She got sick and Miracle couldn't get her the medicine in time."
In that moment, all hope vanished from Violet's eyes.
She just stood there for a while and stared before finally saying, "That's not true." She whispers softly, "You're lying."
Before I can say anything, Prince's loud, obnoxious laughter interrupts me.
"Wait, wait," He wheezes, "She actually died from that!? That's hilarious!"
Violet wipes her eyes, that are now all puffy and red from crying, "Wh- what?" She hiccups.
Prince wipes his eyes, "Oh, that's too good! I put some, are you ready, Nightshade berries in her little berry bag and she actually ate them!"
He brusts into laughter but stops himself, "No, no, what's even better is they actually made her sick!" He straightens up and struts over to Violet.
He pats her head with a big grin on his face, "I knew your family was weak but I never knew they were that weak!"
"Thats not possible!" I growl, "You can't poison a Poison type!"
He scoffs, "You can't. Unless they're from Violet's family tree. Her genetics suck. Somebody gets a cold around here and it's like they have pneumonia. Any normal Salandit or Salazzle could survive eating a Nightshade plant."
He stares at the large group of Salandit in disgust, "My kids are the strong ones in this place. Any weak ones are those that Violet had without my great genetics. I'm the reason why this this place hasn't died out yet."
I stare at Violet in disbelief, "Prince is your mate!?"
"No." She says blankly, "Not anymore."
Anymore!?
"He never was, Violet." Percy whispers.
Prince nudges Violet, who seems to be thinking about something else; her eyes are glazed over and she's staring at nothing.
Prince nudges her a bit more roughly, "Hey."
"You killed her." Violet says.
"Sure. But I had some help-"
"You killed my little sister!" She screams, setting the area around her and the Charizard ablaze with bright pink flames, "I should kill you..."
He laughs, "Do it, it won't bring your precious little Nightshade back."
"Why? Why did you do it?"
"Because-"
"So she wouldn't tell everyone what you did to her!" I yell over the fire.
Violet turns to me as the fire slowly dims down, "What did he do to her?" She asks desperately.
When I falter, she turns her attention to Prince.
"What did you do!?" She yells, pushing him.
I hear Lilo groan loudly before rising to her paws, "Just say it, mija. It's not hard."
I take a deep breath, "Prince, he...he-"
I can't speak.
Not with Prince's eyes boring into me like that.
I don't dare to say a word.
"Fine." Lilo hisses, "I'll say it; Prince doesn't scare me, not even for a second."
Her words are like venom.
She says every single one with disgust.
She lifts herself into the air and points a pink ribbon at the Charizard.
She curls her lip in disgust when she looks at him, "That disgusting, vile, creature raped Nightshade and left her with this-" She points to Pua "-parasite to take care of!"
Shouts of denial fill my ears.
"If you don't believe me, ask Percy!" She yells over the screaming voices,
This makes everyone shut up.
They turn to her, eagerly and fearfully awaiting her answer.
Percy nods, "It happened two years ago. It's baffling that you had to have someone tell you this." She pushes Pua forward with her stick, "This is her son. His name is Kapua."
Violet stares at Prince in horror.
Fear flashes in his eyes.
But only for a second.
"Fine, you got me. I've been exposed, oh no!" Prince says sarcastically, "But, let me tell you something, Violet." He leans down to her ear and whispers, "I'd do it all again. Just to hear your darling little sister screaming- begging for me to stop."
Violet's body is shaking violently, "Get out."
Really?
What was that?
She sounds slightly confused.
Prince scoffs, "You can't do anything. I'm all you have left. You're nothing without me. I'm the reason this place is still around."
"You're the reason my sister is dead..." She says with uncertainty.
Prince nods, "You need some help understanding that, sweetie? How slowly are we gonna have to explain it this time?"
A loud roar from above redirects Prince's attention to a black Charizard nose diving at high speed towards us.
She opens her wings at the last second and lands softly on the ground.
The green flame on her tail is about twice it's normal size.
Her tail lashes back and forth; I have to step back to bit so it doesn't hit me.
While, it didn't hit me, it did knock Violet over.
She just can't catch a break.
Prince crosses his arms and smiles condescending, "Uh oh. Honey's mad. Didja get the news, sis? You gonna congratulate me?"
She glares at him, "This isn't funny, Prince."
"Who said it was?"
"You killed her and you're treating it like a joke."
"It's pretty funny."
Honey roars and rakes her claws across his face.
I'm sure the fact that she used Slash made it hurt even more.
Prince gingerly touches the wound.
He growls softly when he sees the blood on his hands.
He flicks the blood off and stares at Honey, her green eyes never leaving his red ones.
"I can kill you, too," He growls.
Before the two Charizards can get into a fight, Violet snakes her way in between them
She sticks close to Honey, who is using her tail to protect the shaky Salazzle.
"You lied to me..." She says sadly.
Prince rolls his eyes, "So did Nightshade! She never told you about this kid!"
"The kid that she would have never had if you hadn't raped her!" Tears begin to roll down her face, "Do you know how disgusting that is? She was a child!"
He shrugs and yawns, "Ehh. You weren't available. Plus, she's dead now, you shouldn't-"
He's cut off by Violet flinging herself at his neck.
She surprisingly succeeds and bites down hard on his neck.
He groans in annoyance and effortlessly rips the Salazzle away, throwing her body to a nearby rock wall.
"You're so stupid!" He growls angrily at her, "You weren't there for me! This is your fault! You're the reason Nightshade is dead!"
"Don't say her name!" Violet screams, slowly pulling herself off the ground.
She doesn't have any visible injuries but her arm is hanging limply to her side.
A broken arm seems to be the last of her worries.
"YOU CHOSE HER OVER ME!" Prince roars, "You threw me out when I needed you! You left me! You said you would never leave me alone! If anything, I should be mad at you!"
He sounds so genuine.
But I have no sympathy for him.
He still killed her.
He deserves to die.
Violet says nothing she just blinks.
Prince slams his tail into the ground, "Listen to me, Violet!" He begs, "I need you to understand! For once, Violet! Please!"
"This isn't my fault..." She mutters, "You can't blame me for your actions."
"I was lonely!" He cries, "We were there for each other...until you decided you wanted to take care of your sister. You forgot all about me. Do you know how badly I needed you? You treated me like I was nothing."
"You...You raped my sister because you were lonely?"
Prince jolts back, "Y-yes. But it was only because I missed you."
"You're pathetic." Honey snarls, "If you're so lonely why don't you make a friend? It isn't hard."
"You don't get it!" He growls before turning back to Violet, "You understand, don't you? I- I made a mistake."
"You did." Violet says coldly, "The biggest mistake you could have ever made. I remember when I first met you. Nightshade told me she didn't trust you; I ignored her."
"I did it for us." Prince whispers.
"You filled my head with fantasies." Violet says almost blissfully, "You filled my heart with tender words. But...those words were all a lie."
She clutches her arm and tries to hold back tears, "You lied. You said you would never hurt me."
"But I didn't."
"You hurt Nightshade. That hurts me. More than anything. It was my job to protect her and I failed. It was your job to protect her."
"Violet...I would- don't you remember the letters? You can't leave me. We were meant to be! I need you!"
She smiles sadly, "You never cared about me. You only care about how others will see you. As a strong and righteous Charizard who's job is to protect."
"Fine! Maybe I did care about that but I love you, Violet! That's why I killed her, so we could be happy. She was the reason everything fell apart."
Violet breaks down into sobs, "Nightshade made me happy! How can you say you love me and not know that!? You've ruined us, Prince!"
Prince walks up to her and presses his forehead to hers, "Please, Violet."
She pulls away from him, "No, Prince."
"W-why!?" He yells desperately, "Please tell me why!"
"You lied to me, you raped my sister, You killed her and when you get found out, you play the victim! You hurt her!"
Violet takes a deep breath, "I'm erasing myself from the narrative..."
Singing.
Now is not the time to sing!
What's up with this family and singing?
Prince dashes deeper into the cave and returns moments later with a bunch of letters that he throws at Violet's feet, "Read them, Violet!" He begs.
Violet picks up a letter and immediately sets it on fire, "Let future historians wonder how Violet reacted when you broke her heart; you have torn it all apart!"
"I never meant to hurt you!" His voice cracks with dispair.
She shakes her head, "The world has no right to my heart. The world has no place in our bed; they don't get to know what I said."
She sets her tail on fire and slams it down onto the large pile.
Prince jumps back in surprise as the fire grows into a vortex.
But, not even the fire can hide Violet's tears.
"I'm burning the memories, burning the letters that might have redeemed you."
"VIOLET, PLEASE! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!"
She ignores him and continues singing, her voice rising with every passing word, "You forfeit all rights to my heart! You forfeit the place in our bed! You'll sleep in your office instead, with only the memories of when you were mine!"
The fire disperses, leaving only the ashes of the letters.
Prince stares at them in pain before finally looking up at Violet, "Why?" He chokes.
She wipes her eyes, "I hope that you burn."
"You don't mean that."
"I meant every word. We're done, Prince. I never want to see you again. I hate you."
Prince takes a long look at Violet.
I didn't know he cared about anyone.
Its like his whole world just fell right before his eyes.
Maybe now, he knows how Violet feels.
He turns his attention to me, "This is your fault."
"I'm glad it is." I say coldly.
He glances at Violet sadly before lifting himself into the air and flying away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I tried my hardest to help Violet.
She started crying and wouldn't stop.
Lilo told me it'd be best if we just left.

Honey offered to take us to Primarina Island.
It was awkward.
Until Pua started snotting all over me.

Once I got all his disgusting mucus out of my fur, I asked him what was wrong.

"Prince really is my dad." He says in between hiccups, "That means I really am a mistake."

I wipe his eyes with my paw, "Who told you that?"

"Isabelle."

Of course she did.
I'm gonna have sushi for dinner tonight.
With salt on the side.

I lift his chin up, "Pua. You are not a mistake."

"Y-yes I am. Prince did bad things to my mom and that means I was never supposed to be born and, and, that means I'm a mistake."

"Listen to me, Pua. Did your mother ever call you a mistake."

"No." He sniffles.

"Then you're not a mistake. Simple as that."

After that, he's silent.
Silent and Kapua don't go well together.

You want to know what isn't silent?
Primarina Island.
Who lives here?
A bunch of kids?

When we land, Isabelle, who's just staring at me with extreme disappointment, waddles over to me with a flipping blunt in her mouth.

"Are you trying to get high?" I ask, taking a step back.

"What do you think?" She takes the blunt out of her mouth and flicks it away, "I'm just dying inside. So, how'd it go?"

"Ehh. I broke Violet. And ruined her relationship."

"With Prince." She places a flipper on the top of my had a pats it, "Good job. I'm proud of you. Now, do you want to kill me? You're giving me that look."

"Yes."

She scoffs, "Typical. Alright, Three legs, show me what you've got."

"Shut up."

She smiles, "Ahh, I love being an ass."

Siren and some random Ducidueye sneak up behind her.

Siren giggles softly, "Language."

Isa tries to hit them with her tail, "Shut up, Siren. And take your little boyfriend with you. You're gay. Leave me alone."

She's high.
I think.
Maybe.
Definitely.
Or-

Isabelle groans, "Stop thinking about-"

"I'm not thinking about her!" I yell defensively.

Isa blinks, "Jeez chill. I was only gonna...shut up."

Who shut up?
Nobody said anything!?

"She's talking to the voices in her head." Siren whispers.

Right.
Like it's a normal thing.
Of course, of course.

"The voices belong to dead Pokémon. Isn't that cool?"

I shake my head and she sighs, "Fine, be that way."

After siting in silence, I decide to ask what's going on.

"We're getting ready for war." Isa replies, "We're gonna beat up Tidal Wave. Wanna join, Holly?"

I flatten my ears, "No."

She smirks, "Why? Did I offend you?"

I feel like today is Isa's 'let's see how mad I can make everyone' day.

"Just a bit."

"Oh, that's funny. Chin up; I was kidding. Take a joke."

"I think you're just high." The Ducidueye states.

She rolls her eyes, "Shut up...you."

"It's Outlander."

"I didn't ask." She says rudely before waddling away.

I quickly scamper after her, "Where are we going?"

"I'm gonna take a nap. I'm tired."

"But I thought we were going to fight."

She plops down under an Exeggutor, "Yeah, tomorrow. We were getting ready while you were gone. Plus, I can't fight if I'm high."

"Stop getting high."

"Nah. Just to make you mad. Now, be quiet so I can sleep."

I lie down next to her, "Not near me. You're not special."

"But I'm cold!"

It's actually really warm on this island.
I just don't want to be eaten alive by, I don't know, a Sharpedo.
That can swim on land.

"Leafeon, I swear-"

"Fine!" I reluctantly scoot away from her and set my head on my paws.
I make sure to huff loudly so she can hear how upset she made me.

"Your anger makes me happy. Keep being mad; it'll make my dreams wonderful."

"You're sadistic." I say jokingly.

"That's my middle name. How'd you know?"

"Lucky guess."

I roll over onto my back and look up at the stars, "Are you scared? To fight?"

"No. I hate Tidal Wave. Fighting him was my idea; I mean, how many more Pokémon are we going to let die until someone does something?"

"Well, I'm scared."

"You shouldn't be. I thought you wanted to die."

"Not anymore."

"So, you shouldn't be scared. Here, I'll help you out." She takes a deep breath, "Tomorrow, when we fight, fight for all of the things Tidal Wave took from you. There ya go; some philosophy....I think."

"So, every single thing I've ever had?"

"No. But if you want to think that way, you've got nothing to lose."
