Finding Light
I walk for hours, I'm covered in snow but I don't stop. I walk until it's dark and then I rest on the ice. I do my best to keep warm, but there isn't much I can do.
I keep going, I lose track of the days, I begin to run low on food and water.
When I do run out, I use the ripped up sack as best as I can to keep warm, but it doesn't help much.
When it grows dark again I keep walking. It's too cold to stop. As I'm walking I notice something in the sky.
Something is glowing. The clouds have parted revealing an eerie glow that I don't know how to describe.
As well as the one light there are also hundreds of small white ones. I've never seen anything like it before.
I stare up at them in awe. I follow the brightest one ignoring the cold. It spikes and dances in the sky.
It reminds me of Wind. How she used to dance. I wonder if this is her way of saying goodbye. I don't know what happens when someone dies.
I doubt I ever will. Until it comes time for me to take my final breath. Then perhaps I will find Wind again, dancing in the sky.
As I'm going, I begin to feel tired, I need to rest, but I don't want
to.
I could rest for a little while. Then I can continue. I spread the sack onto the ice. I lay down on it and wrap myself up.
I'm cold, hungry, thirsty. I look up at the lights. They fill me with a sense of calming.
I try to stay awake, but slowly, my eyes begin to close, and I drift off to sleep.

I wake up feeling strange. Everything is quiet. I can't see anything but white. I can't feel anything either.
As I look around I notice something up in the clouds. A brilliant glow of light that seemd brighter than the ones I saw last night shines above me.
I stand to my feet. I feel drawn to it. I want to go to it. I reach my hands up to it, desperately trying to grab it.
I need to get closer.
I have to.
I walk, but it doesn't feel like I'm walking. It feels more like I'm floating, but I'm not going up.
Soon I come across what looks like a sea of light. It's brighter than anything I've ever seen before.
I squint and try to make out what it is, I think I see land on the other side, a beautiful place.
I made it. I made it to the other side.
I stumble over to it. Weak from cold and hunger. I fall to my knees. I crawl towards the light, desperate.
I have to get there. But I can't. I'm too weak.
I lay there in the snow. Defeated. I can't go on.
Then I hear a voice. I hear someone call my name.
Seth, It's time to come home.
Home. I've never had a home. I want to go home. But I can't.
I feel someone wrap their arms around me. Lifting me into the air. I'm being carried towards the light.
I'm set down in front of it. The same voice echoes in my head.
Come home Seth, come home now.
I stand to my feet. I reach my hand out to the light. I step inside, for the first time I feel warmth. I feel life.
I made it to the land across the sea. The place of love and warmth.
I found light.
And no one can take it away from me.
