Chapter one
Third person POV:
It was July 3064. Trees grew up to thousands of feet tall. Little sunlight ever reached the forest floor which was shrouded in leaves and bushes. No creature ever saw the sky, only the brave climbing up the tree branches, but never getting to the top.
At the bottom of the forest, tiny bugs crawled underneath the plant litter into their own little kingdom, birds that were few and fair between flew from the bushes and up into the near by sky as they searched for food. Resources were scarce for any animal outside of their pack, the closest known steam of water would be miles away, food was never very plentiful for the carnivores and the rest would have to pick through the poison...
A small fox cub napped under a blanket of vines and green leaves that had fallen, the leaves' color faded. His little black nose poked out, giving away his location and deterring any prey. Along with his nose was a bright yellow snout, unlike any of fox' coat. The cub let out a large yawn, arching his back up before shaking the vines off from his head, reveling two shimmering sapphire eyes... and two tails.
The pup looked around the small grove he sat in, all the critters hiding where he could not see them. The male fox sniffed the air, sticking his snout up and closing his eyes. He let out a yip, almost sounding like a chirping bird as he called out for his own kind.
He tried a couple more times, his calls being the only sound around. The fox jumped up, walking in circles as he kept barking. The cub had his back turned to a bush, looking up into the tree tops before suddenly something bumped into his behind. He let out a large yip, jumping high into the air and turning around mid jump.
A gray fox with his fur messed up walked out of the bush, standing much taller than the cub, bits of fur hanging in front of his face with two ruby red eyes. The yellow fox' ears fell to the side of his head, his eyes staring widely, slowly crouching down to make himself smaller. The new fox, who originally was double the size of the cub, now seemed to tower over the scared fox. He cackled, his call sounding like a hyena, the pup quivering in fear.
The pup was smacked across the face, whimpering in pain and nearly failing over. The large fox stepped on his side, pushing down hard, pinning him to the ground. He let out a painful yell, squirming under the gray fox' paw. Every bone is his body was being pressed on, his side felt like it was being crushed under a rock, his throat hurt from how much he screamed and squirmed.
The yellow cub's tails went everywhere while he struggled, hitting the other fox in the face. As the tails brushed against his nose, he stepped off of the pup and let out a large sneeze. Without a second thought, the young fox got up and bolted out of the area, glancing back only for a moment as he raced deeper in the woods.
A twig snapped under his feet, panting heavily. After a moment, he stopped, the fur on the back on his back standing straight up. The pup looked around, panicking, his thinning breath growing louder and louder by the minute. His chest rose and fell, his eyes shaking. His paw seemed to limp, keeping it raised off the ground.
The small fox let out a fearful whimper, keeping his guard up. There was a small rustling in the near by bush, causing the fox to jump once again. He let out a small, fearful squeak as the bush shook again. It was a very light shake, not one from any fox, that was for sure.
The cub sniffed the air, slowly inching closer to the patch of brush. The smell of raspberries touched the tip of the fox's nose, his eyes lighting up. Chewing sounds followed the sent, the little pup practically drooling, licking his lips happily.
He gently sniffed at the bush, looking at it at every angle as he sat in front of it. The fox raised his paw and tapped the top of the shrub. The hedge shook a little and a small, blue hedgehog walked out with a calm look in his eyes.
The pup quickly took a step back, examining the creature intensely. The hedgehog tilted his head to the side and zipped a few inches closer, the much larger fox in comparison jumping away in response, his head low to the ground and his back arched. The two of them locked eyes, blue and green that shimmered in the light, it almost felt like they knew each other...
The small hedgehog took another step with his tiny feet but the fox didn't waste another second, he quickly ran off back into the thick forest, jumping off the sides of the trees and avoiding the thorny bushes as he soon left the hedgehog's sight.
