Friendship
The following days at Jujutsu High buzzed with a new energy, largely thanks to the arrival of Itadori Yuji. As he trained alongside his peers, he quickly gained a reputation not just for his strength but for his unwavering spirit. However, one student remained distant, shrouded in a cool demeanor—Megumi Fushiguro.
Y/N Gojo watched the dynamics unfold, noting how Yuji's outgoing personality contrasted sharply with Megumi's reserved nature. Satoru, ever the playful observer, nudged Y/N during lunch one afternoon. "Think they'll get along?" he asked, a teasing glint in his eyes.
"Maybe," Y/N replied, casting a glance at the two. "Yuji seems determined to befriend everyone. But Megumi... he has his own way of doing things."
Later that day, during training, Yuji found himself paired with Megumi for a sparring session. As they faced off, Yuji's enthusiasm was palpable. "Hey, Megumi! Let's give it our all!" he called, his grin wide.
Megumi merely nodded, adjusting his stance. "Just don't get too reckless," he replied, his voice flat but his eyes sharp.
As the spar began, Yuji rushed in, launching a series of strikes. Megumi dodged with impressive agility, countering with quick, precise moves. The tension in the air was thick—Yuji's enthusiasm met Megumi's calculated approach, and it made for a dynamic clash.
"Nice moves!" Yuji exclaimed, impressed. "You're really good!"
Megumi remained focused, a slight frown on his face as he pushed back against Yuji's energy. "Thanks, but you need to be more strategic," he replied, throwing a shuriken that barely missed Yuji's shoulder.
Yuji laughed, exhilarated by the challenge. "I'll work on that! But let's see how you handle this!" He focused his cursed energy, unleashing a burst of speed that caught Megumi off guard. The two exchanged blows, both of them pushing their limits, but it was clear they had different styles.
After several minutes, the sparring match ended in a draw, both students panting but exhilarated. Yuji clapped Megumi on the shoulder, a bright smile on his face. "That was awesome! You really know your stuff!"
Megumi blinked, taken aback by the unexpected gesture. "You're... not too bad yourself," he admitted, a hint of a smile creeping onto his normally stoic face.
"Want to grab lunch? I heard the cafeteria has great curry today," Yuji suggested, eager to forge a connection.
"I guess," Megumi replied, slightly hesitant but intrigued.
As they walked toward the cafeteria, Yuji chattered on about his life before coming to Jujutsu High—his love for sports, his dreams of becoming strong enough to help others, and even his mishaps. Megumi listened, surprised at how effortlessly Yuji could share so much of himself.
Once they reached the cafeteria, Yuji filled his tray with curry and other dishes, while Megumi opted for a more modest portion. "You really eat a lot," Megumi noted, watching as Yuji dug in with gusto.
"It's all about energy for training!" Yuji replied between bites, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. "You gotta fuel your body if you want to get stronger."
Megumi nodded, his curiosity piqued. "What's your goal, Itadori? Why are you really here?"
Yuji paused, setting his fork down. "I want to make a difference," he said, his expression growing serious. "I lost someone important to me because I couldn't protect them. I don't want anyone else to go through that."
Megumi felt a flicker of understanding. "I get that. I want to protect the people I care about, too. But strength isn't everything."
Yuji smiled, a warmth spreading between them. "Yeah, but it's a start! And we can help each other get stronger."
Their conversation shifted to their training methods, and Yuji found himself intrigued by Megumi's Shikigami techniques. "That's really cool! You can summon animals to fight for you? I'd love to see that in action!"
Megumi hesitated but eventually nodded. "I can show you sometime. But it's not as flashy as your style."
"Maybe not flashy, but it sounds strategic! I respect that," Yuji replied, admiration evident in his voice.
Over the following weeks, the bond between Yuji and Megumi grew. They became training partners, learning from each other and pushing each other's limits. Yuji's boundless energy complemented Megumi's more analytical approach, and slowly, Megumi opened up, sharing snippets of his own life and thoughts.
One afternoon, after a particularly grueling training session, they collapsed on the grass outside the dojo, catching their breath. "You know, I didn't think we'd get along this well," Megumi admitted, glancing sideways at Yuji.
"Me neither! But I'm glad we did," Yuji replied, a wide smile on his face. "We make a good team."
"Yeah," Megumi said, a rare smile breaking through his stoic facade. "Just don't expect me to go easy on you."
"Wouldn't dream of it!" Yuji shot back, grinning.
As they lay there, the sun setting behind them, Y/N watched from a distance, a satisfied smile on his face. He had seen many friendships forged through trials and battles, but this one felt different—rooted in shared experiences and mutual respect.
With the world of curses looming ahead, Y/N knew they would need each other more than ever. And in the face of darkness, the bonds they formed would be their greatest strength.
