Chapter 7

As he pulls up to my house, I recognize Ms. Nelson taking out the trash. I totally forgot about her, I hope she does not come over here. She is another nosy person. Camille and Ms. Nelson want to know what's going on with my life, but at least they're looking out for me. Camille is like my big sister while Ms. Nelson is like my second mom. I appreciate them, but they can be annoying sometimes. Despite that, I love that they both care for me like I'm part of their family.

I make my way out of the car, and at the same time, Chris climbs out to retrieve my bike. I turn my back and find Ms. Nelson is coming towards us. I spoke too soon. Oh no. Not Ms. Nelson too, he already had to deal with Camille giving him a lecture, and I don't think he can handle another one.

She waves at me when she says, "Hello dear, how are you?" She turns her attention to Chris who places my bike next to me. "Oh, who is this strong and handsome young man?"

"Hello Ms. Nelson, this is Chris my..." What do I call him? Is he my friend, like he said he was to Camille, or was he saying that to get her to stop asking him questions?

  "I'm her friend," he says.

Ms. Nelson and I stare at him in utter shock at his reply by using the word friend. Chris glances at me and smiles.

I can't believe he said friends to Ms. Nelson. Perhaps we are friends after all. I can't even bring myself to talk, let alone say anything after he called us friends twice- first to Camille and now to Ms. Nelson.

Ms. Nelson, on the other hand, is not shy to speak. She grabs hold of my shirt and pulls me closer to her and tries to whisper, but it comes out louder than I expected. "He sure is cute. Are you sure you guys are just friends? If I was you, I would be all over him. I wish I was forty years younger, I would jump on him in a second."

I hear Chris laughs softly. Yes, he could totally hear her if he was laughing, maybe she does want him to hear her.

My gosh! Why do these women embarrass me? He's probably thinking right now if I have another person come up and harass him. I think he's becoming annoyed with these women. Well, at least not with Ms. Nelson. She is being polite to Chris compared to Camille who literally tormented him. I realized when we were in the car, Chris was infuriated with Camille. But the way he laughed at Ms. Nelson makes me consider that he thinks she's funny, maybe she's even flirting with him. Is she trying to flirt with him? Gosh, I hope not.

I have to get him away from her before she embarrasses me even more. He can't deal with another person again. Fuck, I can't deal with another person pestering him and embarrassing me. I know they're sweet women, but come on, enough is enough. I want it to stop! I'm uncomfortable being in between them, and I expect Chris is feeling awkward as well.

I'm still close to her as she talks to him, but I'm in a daze, I'm too much in my thoughts to pay any attention to what they're actually saying. That is until I heard my name, I tune back into their conversation. Oh gosh, when is this going to end?

I hear Chris say, "I think she's in good hands with you and I would love to come back to see you as well."

She laughs. "You know what to say to an old girl."

She's definitely flirting with him and Chris is being nice and flirting with her back and I wish they'll stop this conversation. I don't want to be rude, however, I need him to leave before he gets too overwhelmed. Actually, before I get overwhelmed with Ms. Nelson. All right, he is having fun with her, but I need to put an end to their talking before this gets any worse. Thank goodness, I don't have any more women in my life, I think I couldn't handle another person.

To cut this short, I decide to chime in. "It is getting late and I'm getting pretty tired, Ms. Nelson," I say, anxiously.

The way I said it, they know that I am getting uncomfortable around them.

"Okay, you should get some rest. Goodnight dear, but remember you two have fun," she grins and winks at me.

  I giggle.

  "We will," he teases.

That makes me laugh even more and also makes me choke from his choice of words which comes out weird, so I cover it up by coughing. "Okay then, we better go. Goodnight Ms. Nelson," I say eagerly.

This time, I'm the one grabbing Chris's arm and leading him away from her before this gets any more awkward for me.

"Goodnight Ms. Nelson," he chuckles and waves to her as I pull him away.

"Goodnight Chris!" I hear her in the background say, "One handsome young man."

  We both burst out laughing.

I lead him to his car, and I eventually let go of his arm, so he can leave, but instead, he gazes at me with a smirk.

  "What?" I ask.

"Now, who is touching who?" He teases.

"Shut up." I want to shove him in the car and make him leave, but he's probably stronger than me, so that won't work.

He chuckles. "Like you can blame her. Have you looked at me?" He looks down at his body and so, do I. I have looked at him and I do think he's attractive, but I never admit that to him or anyone for that matter.

"Don't you think I'm attractive?" He asks.

Shit! Can he tell? Of course, what woman wouldn't think he was attractive? Even Ms. Nelson thought he was handsome.

  "No," I lie.

"No..." He steps closer to me and begins to back me up to the car. What's happening? What is he doing? "Then why has your breathing increased?" His eyes turn to a dark blue. Holy shit.

I gasp. "It hasn't. You're just in my space that's all... Don't flatter yourself, Chris," I say and I'm trying to figure out a way to push him off me, but I can't seem to move.

He backs up and leans in front of his car, putting his foot up next to the fender and I let out a breath that I didn't realize I was holding. "Well, that's good, you're not attracted to me," he says calmly.

"It is?" I'm stunned by the way he sounded so calm even his reaction was calm as well.

"Yes, because I'm not attracted to you either," he utters as he crosses his arms.

I know he was not attracted to me, but when he said it, it hurt me somehow. I did say it to him, but he didn't seem offended as I did. I try to remain as neutral as I possibly can.

I give him my best fake smile and say, "Good because we are just friends like you said we were."

"Yes, we are friends. As a friend, I'm going to take you to class and to work..." He smirks. "And you can't stop me because I know where you live now, and plus, I know where you work."

How could he do that? Change the topic. His mood swings constantly are changing. This man is so frustrating! And doesn't he have other classes? I'm pretty sure he has different classes that start at different times than mine. He can't just have the same classes as me.

"That is very sweet of you, but I-"

"Do I have to put your bike back in my car or are you going to stop being stubborn and cooperate with me?" He asks, but more like he's threatening me.

"When are you going to stop interrupting me?" I shout.

"When are you going to stop fighting with me," he says sarcastically.

"I'm not fighting with you... I'm-"

"Yes, you are! You just did it now!" He raises his voice.

I ball my fist, taking a deep breath. I need to calm down before I start to actually fight, he thinks this is fighting with him, wait until I really began the real fight. I don't want to fight, so I concentrate on my breathing. Breathe in. Breathe out.

"May I use your bathroom?" He asks.

There he goes changing the subject again. Why does he changes the subject when we're fighting? I'll admit that this is fighting, but if it gets worse between us or he does not want to argue with me, he changes the topic right away. I think he doesn't like conflict. I don't like conflict either, but it's his way or the highway and I don't agree with that. No one bosses me around.

He waves his hand in front of my face just to be a jerk. "Hello. Earth to Sussianna." I swat his hand. "Sorry, but I really have to piss, unless you want me to pee outside in your yard, you have here," he chuckles and I hope he's only teasing.

"No... come inside." I tilt my head to the side where my house is located.

I guide him inside my home and flick on the lights.
