Dearest readers, 

It is with no small amount of glee that I bring to your attention the most tantalizing of rumors currently circulating through our fair city. London, it appears, is about to play host to a drama of regal proportions, featuring none other than the possibly lost heiress to the throne of the principality of Belmonte. Whispers in drawing rooms and salons are abuzz with the arrival of a young woman claiming to be the long-lost princess, seeking to convince her presumed grandmother of her royal lineage.

This appointed princess, whose true identity is cloaked in enigma, has already begun to set tongues wagging. With her graceful demeanor and an air of undeniable nobility, she seems every bit the royal she claims to be. Yet, there is an undeniable veil of secrecy surrounding her past. She reveals precious little about her origins, leaving many to wonder what shadows may lurk behind her carefully maintained façade. Is she hiding something darker, perhaps a secret that could jeopardize her claim?

Adding to the drama of this unfolding tale is none other than our very own Eric Bridgerton, twin brother to the ever-independent Eloise. Known across London for his rakish charm and his penchant for mischief, Mr. Bridgerton's involvement is sure to add a delicious twist to the proceedings. Despite his reputation for irresponsibility, he has been seen in close company with the supposed heiress on numerous occasions. Is he aiding her in her quest for recognition, or is there a more personal entanglement blossoming?

One must ask, should Her Majesty even bother to seek out a new diamond of the season when we might have a princess amongst us? 

This Author cannot help but be drawn to the irresistible allure of such a scandalous story. The lost princess of Belmonte and the infamous Eric Bridgerton – a combination that guarantees no shortage of gossip. As the season progresses, it will be most interesting to observe whether this would-be princess can navigate the treacherous waters of London's high society and whether Mr. Bridgerton can demonstrate that there is more to him than his reputation suggests.

₊⊹ hellooooooo everyone!! so here's that oc/oc bridgerton fic that I said I was working on cause, well, last month I had a really bad panic attack and I ended up in the hospital to have adderall injected into my veins quite literally lmao and I started watching bridgerton to distract myself and I ended up really enjoying it which was a pleasant surprise because I didn't think I would lmao so this story was born. you all have my fucked up mental health to blame. btw I should be writing my thesis but I'm writing this instead cause.. well.

₊⊹ this is inspired by the movie Anastasia which I was obsessed with when I was a kid and I watched it again recently and I still love it very very very very very much; this is also inspired by the princess diaries (more specifically the books) which I also loved very very very much as a kid and there's also something else that made me write this but I don't remember what it was lol one day I might remember and then I'll edit this 

₊⊹ the country Belmonte that is mentioned in the summary is fictional, obviously. it's inspired by Genovia from the princess diaries and it's located between France and Italy, and I have like a whole part of my planning doc that explores more the history of the country but I'll add those details as I write the fic. It's also kinda like a twin country to Monaco, I guess? I decided to make up my own country cause the politics back then were like... crazy. 

₊⊹ also, although the title of this fic is "in the rough" as in "diamond in the rough", Gabrielle will not be the season's diamond. I'm not changing that part of the story, obviously. It's more in the sense that like... there's more to Gabrielle than what meets the eye. 

₊⊹ also in the gif I used for Gabrielle there's a baby's head showing up lmao I couldn't edit it out but Gabrielle does not have a baby okay either ignore the baby or pretend it's someone else's baby. I had to mention this cause it was bothering me lol
