Chapter 9
That inevitable moment of the night had arrived, they were both in the same room. Becky looked out the window, watching the rain pour down hard, while Freen undressed to a simple nightgown, her back to the princess. When she turned around, Becky still had her robe on, which made her feel naked even though she wasn't. Although she was nervous, she took a few steps closer to the princess.
The eerie sound of thunder and lightning only managed to add more tension to the moment. Freen needed to know what she was doing wrong, because she didn't want to get away from Becky.
"Becky, did I do something to offend you? I apologize if I did something wrong..."
"No, Miss Sarocha, you have done nothing to offend me. But I consider that the best thing for both of us is that I stay away from you."
"Miss Sarocha? Didn't we agree that we would call each other by our names? Why does you want to walk away, is it really such a bad thing that I did?" Freen asked in an anguished voice.
Becky was affected by hearing her like this, so she made the mistake of turning around, and being in front of Freen, so close, she completely forgot the speech she had prepared in her mind, because she looked so vulnerable at that moment and so beautiful at the same time, that the words got stuck in her mouth. She couldn't bear to see her like this, her eyes shining on the verge of crying, suffering for something she hadn't done.
"It's not that, Freen, you haven't done anything wrong," she managed to answer, resting her hands on her shoulders.
"So? I don't understand why you say that all of a sudden..."
"It's for your own good... I... I'm not like most women, I'm not interested in men, I mean, I can't fall in love with them, but I can fall in love with women."
Freen opened her mouth a little in surprise, now it was Becky who seemed to be about to cry, since her voice broke at the end of the sentence.
"In this realm, it is forbidden for people like me to love freely. And the problem, Freen, is that I... I'm falling in love with you, ever since I saw you that day at that debutante ceremony with the queen. You are the most beautiful for me since that day, and I also love talking to you, reading your letters, even watching you draw, so that is why it is best that I stay away from you."
"Why, if you feel all that for me, would it be better to walk away?"
Becky looked down, not expecting Freen to reproach her.
"It's because I don't know if you're like me or you're just getting carried away by a new experience."
Freen shook his head before answering, she was disappointed that Becky thought that way.
"Then you were going to walk away from me because you assumed that I was letting myself go with you. I'm sorry princess, but you're an idiot."
"What?"
"What you heard. Why do you think my mom delayed my debut? She introduced me to several suitable candidates, but I was never interested in any of them. Partly because I'm an artist and I don't want my work stolen, but like every woman in this society, I tried to open myself up to the possibility of love. But nothing happened. Now that I hear you explain, I understand it better. That's why you're an idiot. I even tried to kiss you that day at the lake!"
"I know but, once they played with me like that, and I ended up hurt. She didn't love me, she just wanted to "prove her" how she felt."
"I'm not that woman, Becky. I like being with you, to the point that I don't know what to do to get closer to you, because if you were a man, it would be much easier. Everyone would understand and my mom would support me. I didn't know what to do to come see you, I just went to tell my mom that I didn't want to lose your friendship. But, I don't just want your friendship, now I understand."
"You... do you feel the same as me?" Becky asked shakily.
In response, Freen took Becky's face to give her a soft kiss, of recognition, finally she could feel those soft lips of hers, although it was only for a few seconds.
"Yes, I feel the same way about you," she replied without stopping to look into her eyes.
After a few seconds of staring at each other, they melted into a hug, Freen tried Becky's lips again, but this time her tongues also met. The princess's robe soon fell to the floor, her bodies seemed to burn on contact, despite the fact that a thin cloth separated them. With great willpower, Becky pulled away from Freen, who noticed the princess's dilated pupils, and didn't understand why she was stopping, as she wanted more from her, even though she was barely breathing.
"We can't keep doing this, Freen," Becky said.
"Why not? We're just kissing."
"Because if we don't stop now, we won't be able to stop later. We should only be if we are married."
"But we can't get married."
"Not in this realm, but in mine, yes."
"Will you marry me, is that what you're saying, princess?" Freen asked jokingly. But her smile faded when she saw Becky's serious face.
"I know that it may sound inconceivable to you, but not to me. Also, I must confess that I have fantasized about the idea of marrying you."
Freen smiled mischievously, she wasn't going to settle for just one kiss, she wanted more.
"Maybe I want to marry you, but you should convince me with a kiss first."
Becky laughed, she immediately noticed Freen's mischievous attitude, which she loved, but she had to resist her temptation.
"I think we should sleep, Miss Freen. These are not hours for a lady to seduce another in her nightgown."
"I'll go to sleep as soon as I have my goodnight kiss, princess," Freen replied smiling. That smile would melt anyone, luckily she only dedicated it to Becky.
"I won't be able to contain myself if I kiss you again, Freen. Please don't insist."
Becky rested her forehead against Freen's, subtly caressing the young lady's cheek. But Freen wasn't willing to give in, she hugged Becky around the waist, pulling her closer to herself.
"You've done this before, haven't you? Teach me, I promise I'll be a good learner."
That seductive voice was completely new to Freen, and completely irresistible to Becky as well, she didn't know what to answer, she just swallowed. She looked at Freen's mouth once more, it was hard not to after hearing it, and she would have kissed her again, if it hadn't been for someone knocking on her door, scaring them so much that they even jumped.
"Freen, are you there? I need to talk to you for a moment."
It was the voice of Freen's mother, so the only thing Becky could think of to do was get into bed and cover herself up to her neck, pretending to be asleep. Freen, who saw how she ran without being able to move from her place, had no choice but to open the door for her mother.
"Mom, I was about to fall asleep, what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to ask you how you were, since I remembered that when you were little you were afraid of stormy nights."
"I'm fine, that was a long time ago."
Inside the room that she shared with the princess, there was not much light, but that did not prevent her mother from scrutinizing her with her gaze, she had not gone to see her for nothing. She noticed that her daughter's nightgown was somewhat messy, so she fixed it for her without saying anything about it. Freen felt guilty with this action on her mother's part, so she didn't say anything, just lowered her gaze.
"I hope you have a good night, dear. Sleep and rest."
"Good night mom."
Freen's mother went to her room even more worried, her suspicions were definitely true, and if she hadn't arrived before, maybe it would have been too late. She hoped to hear from the lord the next day, before her daughter thought of doing something crazy, the last thing she wanted was to lose her.
On the other hand, Freen locked the door, to avoid unwanted visitors, and then got into bed, lying next to Becky.
"That was close," Becky murmured.
"Too much."
"I told you we had to stop, Freen."
"I know, it's better that we sleep."
"Is it true that you were afraid of storms before?"
"Yes, because many times I had a fever on nights like this, I had a bad time and that's why I was afraid afterwards."
"I wonder what little Freen was like, surely she was more obedient than now."
Freen nudged her shoulder, though Becky barely moved from her spot. They both chuckled quietly, not wanting to risk anyone overhearing them.
"By the way, I really loved how you drew me. I love having a portrait done by you."
"I hope I reflected how beautiful you are."
"Are you flirting with me again, Miss Freen?"
They laughed again at the same time, andcontinued talking until late at night. Until, without realizing it, they fellinto a deep sleep.
