Chapter 7
Hearing her say that hurt the princess a bit, so she stopped talking to the young lady for a while, letting her brother try to chat with her, after all, that had been the deal, at no time had she agreed to fall in love with miss Freen Sarocha. But the conversation between the two simply did not flow, so there was soon silence between the three of them.
The queen was really intrigued, she didn't understand how the environment had changed so suddenly. Apparently, something bothered the princess, since she used to be the one who talked the most of the two, much more than her brother too. Luckily, the races soon ended, so they could go to the lake, the princess had a strong desire to tear away from the place, but she held back.
She left her brother with the young lady, so she could go talk to the queen, and thus distract herself from the lump that had formed in her throat since the young lady's unfortunate comment. Freen tried with all her might to talk about anything with the prince, but she couldn't help but feel annoyed when she saw the princess laugh with the queen, even though they only seemed to be talking.
Of course, the prince noticed the furtive glances that the young lady was giving the princess, which made him think that perhaps it was too late. Becky had already conquered the queen's diamond, although it was possible that they had just argued and that's why the lady looked at her that way. Yes, it was better to convince himself that it was a misunderstanding between them and not that the lady was jealous of her sister.
Those girls would soon be in trouble if they continued to be so obvious. Although of course, the prince wasn't sure if the rest would notice what was happening between them. At first, he had his doubts as to whether Miss Sarocha was attracted to her sister, but when he saw them sharing in the queen's box, there was no doubt.
Lady Irin was conversing with Lady Sarocha, so she had to deal with Miss Sarocha, there was no escape. Then, he suddenly had an idea, which would clear all his doubts.
"Miss Sarocha, did I ever tell you about how my sister saved me from a beating?"
That was all he had to say to get her attention: mention her sister.
"No, never. Would you mind telling me that anecdote?"
"Of course. It turns out that my sister has always been good at resolving conflicts. When I was younger, I used to get me in trouble most of the time. One day, playing with the son of an earl whose name I don't remember, he accused me of cheating. I wasn't cheating, so I insisted that I had won. He told me that I had to prove it or he would hit me. I hesitated, since he was much bigger than me. I don't know where or how, but at that moment Becky appeared —the prince smiled as he remembered as he spoke—, she stood in front of me and accused him of cheating, she clearly explained how he did it and the boy, embarrassed, not knowing what to do, he ran away. I remember I was so flabbergasted that I didn't say thank you, she just smiled at me and went the way she came. Later I realized that sometimes she watched me from the nearby tower when I played with other children older than me."
"Wow, besides being smart and kind, she's also a good sister."
"That's right, she has a good heart, although sometimes she gets carried away too much by him, without realizing that she is in danger. The boy could have hit her, but she stood up for me without a second thought."
"It's true."
The young lady seemed to reflect on the prince's words. He just watched her, hoping that her words had an effect. However, he couldn't be further from the truth. Miss Freen thought that perhaps the comment she made about the sport might have made the princess feel bad, so she got away from her as soon as she could.
She apologized to the prince, without thinking too much, she went to greet the queen who was still with the princess.
"Your Majesty, do you mind if I steal the princess for a moment? I wanted to show her the games that are southeast of the lake, I'm sure she will like them."
"Sure, little one, no problem," replied the queen, smiling.
The young lady smiled with satisfaction, and taking the princess by the arm, she pulled her away from the queen. When they were somewhat separated from the people, she spoke again.
"I wanted to apologize for saying that horseback riding was not a sport for the ladies, princess. I didn't mean to tell you that you wasn't a lady."
The princess smiled, she seemed as if she read her mind, it was impossible not to like her.
"Okay, Freen. And what were the games you wanted to show me?"
"Ah, that was just an excuse to come here."
"And why do we come here? Ah, you're going to give me what you wanted to give me, right?" asked the princess, smiling.
"Yes, but I need a brighter place. I'd like to do a portrait of you, Becky. I brought what I needed to draw."
"Really?"
"Yes, I say it seriously. It's what I wanted to give you."
"I'd love to have it!"
"It's settled then," Freen said smugly.
So, Freen looked for a bench where she sometimes used to sit, because of the tranquility and silence of the place, it was close to the lake but far enough away from the people, so they were practically alone. For a while, Freen concentrated on drawing the details of Becky's face, while she thought about how beautiful she was, about her deep eyes that seemed to undress her when looking at her, about her lips that she wanted more and more to try.
For her part, Becky couldn't take her eyes off Freen's face, she looked even more beautiful concentrating, she didn't think it was possible, but she was. Her half-open mouth seemed to call her for seconds, and those eyes, Becky was sure she could immerse herself in that intense look for hours, her hand seemed to move skilfully, so she allowed herself to fantasize about that hand running through her own skin. Never had a silence said so much for both of them.
When Freen showed to Becky the portrait, she simply smiled, and as she received the drawing she lightly brushed Freen's fingers, who tingled as she perceived it. They stared at each other again, Becky's gaze lowered to Freen's lips, she knew she shouldn't, but she couldn't help it, her entire body yearned to be closer to her, it was a new need she didn't know she could have.
She wasn't in her kingdom, feeling what she felt for Freen was absolutely forbidden, and her brother was right, if other nobles denounced her to the queen she couldn't do anything. However, Freen was also slowly getting closer, that meant she wanted to kiss her too, and that was an opportunity she couldn't waste.
"Sister, here you are! It's good that I found you," the prince yelled, appearing suddenly, causing the two to separate immediately.
Becky swallowed hard, she was sure that her brother had seen what was about to happen. She got up quickly, if she stayed close to Freen she would soon lose all willpower and she didn't want to put her in danger. She was very close to kissing her, and who knows what would happen after if her brother didn't intervene.
"Sorry for worrying you, I lost track of time. Miss Sarocha has done a portrait of me, she is very talented" said the princess smiling, pretending that nothing had happened.
Miss Freen seemed to react to hearing her refer to her formally, that seemed to bring her back to reality and calm her agitated heart. She got up, imitating the princess, although she wasn't sure what to say, she just smiled as if nothing had happened, as if her heart hadn't raced a few seconds before, and the only thought she had was to taste her lips from Becky.
"The queen requires both of you for tea, so I offered to fetch you two," the prince said.
"We shouldn't make her majesty wait any longer, let's go," Freen spoke, who was afraid that her voice would come out shaky, but fortunately it didn't. She went ahead and began to walk quickly, she wanted to go home, she wasn't sure what was happening with the princess, until a while ago it seemed unthinkable to kiss someone, but a seconds ago, she was about to kissing the princess, she was definitely not right in the head.
Becky, for her part, was looking at Freen's back, whose skin looked so smooth that she wanted to touch it, until she noticed the intense gaze of her brother. He looked worried, but mostly angry. That confirmed that he had seen them, and of course, that he would scold her after. She looked away, not wanting to face her brother.
At that moment, she realized that it was gettinglate. How long had she been alone with Freen? Time seemed to slip away when shewas with her, which hadn't happened before. Perhaps Miss Freen Sarocha hadreally put a spell on her, since she couldn't understand how she couldn't stopthinking about her from the moment she met her.
