Lorelai and Rory chose to sit at the counter, probably to get under Thea's skin.
Georgia was glad that she didn't allow anyone to get under her skin.
The inside of the diner was packed and Liberty was busy. Jess was busy being no help by presumably sleeping.
Luke came over to hand Georgia a glass of orange while he filled up Thea's mug with coffee. Georgia had no clue why Thea was a coffee addict; because to Georgia, coffee smelt good but tasted awful, before going on to give coffee to Rory and Lorelai.
"Coffee...orange juice...whatever you two are taking. Shout out your orders now before I serve you all steamed spinach," Luke said.
Georgia and her pack said their orders, although Luke should've known that Georgia's order never wavered.
"Okay," Luke said.
Thea glanced around the diner, "Isn't Jess supposed to be helping?"
"Yeah, but I bet he's bailing on us," Liberty said, taking some plates over to the customers.
Jess, Georgia felt her eye twitch slightly at the sight of him, came down the stairs.
Luke went over to speak to him, "Jess, you were supposed to be down here – what the hell is that?"
Georgia frowned, trying to figure out what Jess was doing. Well, he wasn't strangling a bird to death.
Thea asked, "What are you talking about?"
"That," Luke said, pointing at Jess's shirt.
"It looks like a shirt to me," Todd replied.
Yeah, Georgia didn't see the problem. It didn't have a scantily clad or half-naked woman on it like the shirts some guys wore at school.
"Change," Luke told Jess.
Jess asked, "What?"
"Go upstairs and change your shirt," Luke ordered Jess.
"I like this shirt," Jess replied.
Georgia rolled her eyes. God, why did this guy annoy her so much? Everything he does annoys her. Even breathing in her direction made her want to gouge out his eyes with her pinkies.
Luke asked, "How can you like that shirt?"
"It brings out my eyes," retorted Jess.
Georgia snickered a little, because she can admit when she found something funny. Even Chuck Presby can make her laugh sometimes and Georgia hated him a lot.
Luke continued talking to Jess, "Hey, part of the deal of you staying here is that you work here, and when you work here, you will wear proper work attire, and this is not proper work attire. Now go upstairs and change into something that won't scare the hell out of my customers."
"Whatever you say Uncle Luke," Jess said, going upstairs.
"Just wear a regular, plain t-shirt," Liberty called after him. "It doesn't matter the color."
"Gross shirt," Lorelai stated.
"Yeah," replied her mini-me robot.
"Good band," added Lorelai.
"Oh year," added her mini-me robot.
"I prefer Megadeth myself," Todd told them.
Lorelai and her mini-me looked at Todd.
Georgia had to admit, Todd made a good point, even though Georgia preferred rap and she wasn't talking about that stale end piece of white bread Eminem.
Thea's grandparents had asked her to debut in some debutante ball.
cccc mGeorgia didn't get it, "So, why would you agree to participate in a debutante ball? All you'll end up doing is get paraded around for a bunch of rich guys to look at you and go, 'hmm, this one has strong birthing hips.'"
Thea laughed, but then put her hands on her hips, "Do I have strong birthing hips?"
"I don't know," Georgia said, looking at her. "Maybe?"
Annette walked into the kitchen, "Do I even want to know why you're talking about birthing hips?"
"Thea's being presented at a debutante ball," Georgia told her mother.
Annette nodded, "Who's going to escort you?"
Georgia had wondered that herself.
"Todd," Thea said. Georgia was surprised by that statement. She looked at Annette, who seemed surprised by that too.
"Really?" Georgia asked, "Todd?"
"I mean, I hadn't exactly asked him, yet," Thea replied. "I was going to talk to Sage and Aiden about it to see if they're okay with it first."
Georgia already knew the answer: they would say yes.
Thea was always like that. She never wanted someone to feel left out. She didn't want to choose. It was why she picked both boys to date instead of picking one over the other.
"I should probably go ask them," Thea said. She started to leave the kitchen, but stopped and looked at Annette, "This is a weird question to ask you, but do you want to come watch me at the ball?"
That was because Lorelai would be busy watching her mini-me to pay any attention to Thea.
Annette smiled, "I would love to."
Thea smiled back and left the kitchen.
Annette looked at Georgia, "I would never know how I couldn't even juggle one guy with my schedule, but somehow she manages to juggle two guys with everything else."
Georgia nodded. It must be nice to have someone love you, but she was fine being single. She didn't need a man to complete her.
Just like Georgia knew they would, Sage and Aiden agreed to let Todd be Thea's escort to the ball.
Apparently there was another hitch in this debutante ball...
Someone needed to present Thea.
So, at Luke's, Thea stared at Luke with some contemplative look on her face. Georgia was sure that Luke was a little unnerved by the look on Thea's face.
Luke asked Thea, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Well, I need someone to present me at the debutante ball," Thea told him.
"And I'm aware that your father is going to present Rory," Luke replied.
Georgia wondered if Luke heard himself. Christopher was going to present Rory, not Thea. It was fairly obvious.
Luke sighed, "I'll do it, Teddy. Stop giving me that look." Thea smiled. "Which one of your boyfriends is going to be your date?"
"Todd," Thea said.
Luke seemed confused at that, "Todd?"
"Because I didn't want the other to feel left out," Thea said. "So, they agreed to let Todd go with me. It's a favor for a favor arrangement."
Georgia was curious about that.
"A favor for a favor?" asked Luke.
"He agreed to come with me as long as afterwards, we'll get ice cream and get brain freezes," Thea replied.
"Of course that's what he wants," Luke grumbled.
Somehow, Georgia wasn't surprised.
Later, Georgia swung by Miss Patty's dance studio to see if Todd and Thea were done yet. Liberty was at the diner, while Aiden and Sage were busy with other things. Jess was off doing god knows what; maybe setting a couple of trash cans on fire or terrorizing a small child. Whatever Jess was doing, she didn't care.
She spotted Todd and Thea inside the dance studio. Miss Patty was smoking a cigarette.
She asked Thea, "Hey, are you done yet?"
"No," replied Thea. She and Todd left the dance studio together.
Georgia asked, "So, how's it going with dance lessons?"
"Well, with Rory and Dean, Miss Patty thought Rory was going to hurt Dean and made her stand in the corner," Todd said, in an almost giddy manner.
Georgia laughed at that.
Thea looked in the studio, Lorelai and Christopher were dancing together.
Georgia decided to distract Thea, "My mom was showing me these pearls that she made Francine get her. They were more expensive than our entire house put together."
Todd nodded, because apparently the suit Francine and Straub got Todd was expensive as hell too.
"Come back into the studio now, dears," Miss Patty said to Todd and Thea.
"See you later," Thea said to Georgia.
Georgia nodded at her. At least it was just one debutante ball.
