"Thank you again Mrs McCall for letting me stay here," Selene said with a sweet smile. They were eating dinner. Mrs McCall smiled back as best as she could while chewing food. She began to wave her fork at Scott while swallowing.
"Scott. Would you mind getting me some groceries when you are done? I forgot to go today and I need them for tomorrow."
"Why can't Selene go?" Scott moaned. He had never had siblings growing up so chores like this always fell upon him to do. Selene raised an eyebrow at him.

"She is our guest. She does not need to do chores while she is here..." She paused. "How long are you staying here again?" She turned the conversation to Selene. Selene felt her hands get sweaty. There was only so many times she could lie to the woman who was lovingly giving her food and shelter.
"Erm... I guess until Derek gets back... I'm not sure when that is sorry." Selene began to play with food on her plate, "But you can kick me out any time you like."
"I would never! You can stay as long as you need. I just needed to know so we have enough food. Not that is a problem either." She smiled again before carrying on with her food.

Selene looked over and Scott and he didn't look too pleased. He thought this was going to be a one night, at a push a two night deal. More time then that had passed. He felt like Selene was spying on him again.

After dinner, Selene sat in the guest room reading a book that Derek had dropped off for her while Mrs McCall... Melissa... was at work. He had dropped a few items of clothing too. Not that she owned many to begin with. When They moved back to Beacon hills they sold everything they couldn't fit in their cars. The door shot open suddenly and there was a very angry Scott in the doorway.

"A knock would have been nice." Selene said looking at the dropped book on the floor. She had dropped it in shock. She sighed at the book, at the unmarked page she just lost.
"Its my house! I can do as I like!" Scott argued like a child over toys. "I need you to tell Derek to leave me alone!" He was seething. If he was a rabid dog there would be foam around his mouth.
"I can send him a text, but he won't listen to me. He thinks we need to do what it takes to catch the Alpha."
"He attacked me!" Scott shouted. "He attacked me and made me frightened for my life! I thought the Alpha itself was after me!" His eyes flashed yellow.
"Scott, you need to calm down." Selene stood up trying to sooth the boy. For a second it seemed to work. But in the moment of calm Scott just became angry again and left the bedroom slamming the door shut behind him.
----------------

The following day at school Selene found herself looking for her new housemate. She spotted him with Stiles walking down a hallway. She sped up to catch up with them dodging out of the way of other students.
"Scott." She said to get his attention. He groaned slightly when he saw her. He felt like no matter where he went she was always there. Like a shadow. "Your mom said you forgot the cheese sauce." Scott pinched his nose in frustration. He didn't need this right now.

"Why didn't she tell me that herself?"
"Because she said, and I quote. 'He flew out of the house like a bat out of hell.'"
"Well, I wanted to get to school on time." They had reached Scott's locker. Stiles had been listening to the whole conversation slightly confused. As if he was missing something.

"Well you can get a lift from me anytime. You know, I have a car. A very nice car."
"I don't want Allison to know you are living with me. It might give her the wrong idea."
"Wait. Hold up. Pause. Rewind." Stiles lifted his hands up he looked at Selene. "You are living with him?" he looked at her almost accusingly. She felt hot under his gaze.
"Yeah," she confirmed.
"Why?" He narrowed his eyes looking between Selene and Scott.
"Hunters infiltrated my house. I needed somewhere to stay." She shrugged not making a big deal out of it.
"Why not my place?" Was he offended?
"Your dad already has ideas. He doesn't need anymore." Stiles sure did look offended. "Hext time I don't have somewhere to live. I'll come live with you." She looked at Scott who had a stupid grin on his face.
"What?" She growled at him.
"Nothing Selene, nothing at all." He walked after Stiles who had begun to walk off. She glared at the back of his head hoping something would happen but alas. Nothing.
-------------------------------

Selene was called out onto the sports field a little while later and she was not disappointed with what she found.
"What are you guys doing?" Scott's hands were tied around behind his back and there was a line of balls on the floor. Stiles held a lacrosse stick in his hands and looked rather happy.
"My ingenious idea is that his wolf change is linked to his heart rate. So if I get his heart rate up we could learn how to control it. What do you think?" He grinned. Selene tilted her head to the side.

"I think that I am a werewolf myself and I won't get in the way of your 'ingenious' idea because I already know the answer." She stepped back giving her blessing to the situation. Anger was more Derek's way of control. Each wolf has a different anchor. Selene wasn't sure what hers was just yet, but saying the calming mantra when she felt on the edge helped and if it didn't she would grab onto the nearest object and chant louder.

"This isn't how I wanted to spend my free period." Scott moaned bringing her out of her thoughts. Scott walked a short distance away from Stiles and Selene. Selene placed her hands on her hips and watched the scene unfold in front of her. Stiles began to pelt balls at Scott while looking at the app on a phone Stiles had stolen. On the app they were able to watch Scott's heart rate slowly increase with each ball. She stood there laughing to herself before the beeping of the phone distracted her. Scott was on the floor and growling,

"Stiles step back." She stood in front of Stiles with her arms stretched. Stiles didn't argue. She was getting ready to protect the human from the pissed off werewolf which was about to make an appearance. Suddenly the beeping on the phone began to slow down.
"Scott?" Stiles took a step around her and got closer to Scott. "Scott, you started to change." Selene stayed ready just in case there was still a chance of a change.
"From anger." Scott acknowledged, "But it was more than that. Was like, the angrier I got, the stronger I felt."
"So it is anger, then. Derek's right." Selene raised her eyebrows at that too.
"I can't be around Allison."
"Just because she makes you happy?"
"No, because she makes me weak." Selene rolled her eyes and looked at Stiles with a disbelieving look. He nodded at her before leading Scott to the boys locker room.
---------------------

"Scott!" Selene called while knocking on his room door.
"What." He opened the door while putting on a jacket.
"I'm driving you to work." she smiled.
"Why?" Scott frowned.
"It's late. I'm being helpful. Plus your mother is worried you are going to be attacked. I can feel her anxiety. It's a trick I have you see. All wolves can sense emotion but I seem more attuned to it. It's my sixth sense. So, I suggested, to make up for all the time I'm spending here I could play you back by driving you to work. Her anxiety washed straight away."

Selene did a motion with her hand pushing air away from her like a balloon. Scott wasn't amused but he knew that once his mother had decided something then there was no going back. He reluctantly nodded.

The car journey was silence minus the lull of the radio in the background. Selene pulled up to the clinic. She shivered with the memory of what happened here the last time. Derek almost died and wanted his arm chopped off. Then she felt cold. Something else other than memories was wrong. Scott began to get out of his seat before she pulled him back down.

"What?" He asked annoyed. She sniffed the air.
"Something is wrong. I'm coming with you."
"I can take care of myself." He pulled himself away from her grasp.

"Scott." She growled at him and flashed her amber eyes. He sighed and nodded for the second time that night. They walked into his work together, ready to fight if necessary. They were both taken back at what they saw. Scott's boss was tied up and Derek was being rough with him.

"Derek!" Selene shouted.
"What are you doing?" Scott shouted at the same time.
"Get out of here you two." Derek warned. They didn't move. "Look, when he's conscious, he can keep himself from healing, but unconscious, he can't."
"Are you out of your mind? What are you talking about?"
"You want to know what the spiral means, Scott? It's our sign for a vendetta, for revenge. It means he won't stop killing until he's satisfied." Selene gasped understanding what Derek was getting at.
"You think he's the Alpha?"
"We're about to find out." Derek raised his hand to hit Scott's boss again, but Scott grabbed his arm before he could make the blow.

"Hit him again, and then you'll see me get angry." Derek backed off from Scott who had just temporarily changed from anger. Derek sighed in annoyance but stepped back. This wasn't a good thing or a bad thing. Was Scott protecting him because of his human attachments or was it because he needed to protect his alpha?

Scott grabbed some cotton and bandages out of various cupboards and began tending to his bosses wounds.
"Do you have a plan?" Derek asked,
"Just give me an hour."
"Then what?"
"Meet me at the school. In the parking lot."
------------------------

Selene drove Scott back home. He wasn't working tonight.
"Stiles is picking us up." Scott informed while texting.
"Why can't I drive us. What's wrong with my car?" Scott looked at the car and winced.
"It's too..." Selene lifted her hand.
"Do not finish that sentence Scott McCall." They Didn't have to wait long before Stiles turned up in his Jeep. Selene was banished to the back seat. But that didn't stop her from leaning forward every few minutes to give her input on whatever the boys were talking about in that moment. Stiles had to stop himself from shivering every time he felt Selene's hot breath on the back of his neck.

At the school, the trio met up with Derek. Scott and Stiles walked into the school. They had a plan to lure the Alpha to the school using a howl. Derek and Selene stayed with Scott's boss so they could see if anything happened. There was silence between the two pack members. They heard the static of the speakers turning on before they heard the most stupid sound in the history of ever. They looked at each other concerned before rolling their eyes at the same time. The sound was replaced with a deep, rumbling howl. It made goosebumps form on Selene's arms. Both boys came back out a few minutes later looking overly pleased with themselves.

"What was that!" Derek shouted at them.
"Derek come on, that was awesome!" Selene grinned at the boys.
"Sorry, I didn't know it would be that loud."
"Guys. Where is Scott's boss." Selene pointed to the space Scott's boss should have been. She took a step towards the boys. Suddenly a hand ripped through Derek's chest spilling blood everywhere. Selene screamed.

"DEREK!"
