A week had passed. Selene had written off the sighting of Peter at the station as an hallucination from being knocked out so many times. The Argents and the other hunters had stepped up their game. They were more aggressive and because Gerard was leading them. They didn't care that children were in their path.

Why was Gerard leading them and not Chris? That night Scott had almost died, Derek had bitten Allison's mom in an attempt to get her to stop. She was the one trying to kill Scott. Derek saw no other way. A bite from an Alpha meant either death or the life of a wolf. Allison's mom had survived the bite and she hated it. She would have preferred to die... and that is what she had done.

She killed herself and now the hunters were out for blood. Including Allison. She had become ruthless. They had figured out where the wolves had been living and were on their way.

"Derek. We aren't safe here." Selene said to her guardian. They were alone in the warehouse. Derek had sent the others home. Derek was packing things into a large box.
"I know." He replied, he didn't look at her as he continued to pack things. "There is only one place to go." He stopped. "They will never expect us to go back. Not after everything... No matter how many times we leave that place we always end up right back there." He made a small fist and hit the box. He flexed his hand. Selene walked over to him.

"Why can't they just leave us alone? Every time we have a home they take it from us." Selene cried. Derek looked defeated.
"They are hunters. It is what they do."
"I don't blame you... if that is what you think." Selene reassured. Derek scoffed.

"Then I think you might be the only one."
"What do you mean?"
"Scott has made plans with Gerard. Boyd and Erica are planning to leave. Isaac. He's undecided."
"You don't know that Derek!"

"I do know that Selene! Stop trying to make things 'easier' for me. I know. I'm a terrible Alpha and my pack is leaving me. My mom was this great leader and ran a pack for years. Laura was great too. Me, I'm not cut out for this, and I never was. I need to stop pretending. My pack has gone."
"I'm not leaving you."Selene squeaked out. Derek looked her in the eye.
"Selene. I said, stop trying to make things easier for me." Derek knew, and deep-down Selene did too. She had begun to feel drawn to Scott.
-----------------------------

Selene climbed up Stiles' house. She made her way up to his window and tapped gently on the window.
"Stiles. Stiles!" Stiles jumped in shock before smiling. He opened the window.
"I do have a front door you know." He laughed. She hopped in landing gracefully on the floor. "Its one in the morning. I didn't want to disturb your dad." She explained.

"He's not here... You know... Since getting his job back. At least one thing went well that night."
She hugged him. His anxiety was almost crippling. He relaxed slightly into the hug.
"I missed you." He whispered.
"I missed you too." She replied. They stood there in each others arms enjoying the company. It was like they could forget everything that was happening in the outside world.

"I haven't slept in days." Stiles admitted. "Everything that is going on. They had me see Ms. Morrell today at school." They sat down on the bed. Their hands finding each other.
"I wish I was at school with you." Selene said. Stiles shook his head.
"No Selene. It's too dangerous." He waved his hand. Selene put her hand on his face.
"Stiles. I would face 100 hunters if it meant you were safe and happy." Stiles lent into her hand.

"Selene." He paused. "I saw your body on that floor. Every time I visit my dad I still see you. You looked like you were dead. If you were human you would be. I never want to experience anything like that again. I don't want to lose you." Selene lent forward and kissed him.

She wanted him to know how much she loved him with just one simple kiss. Stiles was blown away by it. No other kiss could be compared to this one. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap. Not in a sexual way but an intimate one. She pulled away for breath and whispered.
"I love you."
"I love you too." She lay down on his bed and he followed. They lay in silence hugging each other until they both slowly fell asleep in each others arms.
------------------

Selene was sat on a big dusty table in the burnt down house once again. They had left the warehouse for the last time earlier that morning. Derek was stood in front of her unpacking the box he had spent so long packing yesterday.

"Why are you unpacking if this is temporary?" Selene asked swinging her legs back and forth.
"I'm not unpacking. I'm looking for something to help us. Something that might give us answers." Footsteps approached them but neither of them were worried. They recognized the scents of Erica and Boys.

"So you decided." Derek said turning around to look at them. "When?"
"Tonight." Erica seemed nervous. The first time since being a wolf, she had lost her confidence.
"Everyone's gonna be at the game. We figured it was the best time." Selene couldn't fault their logic.
"It's not like we want to." Erica spoke again. Derek took a few steps closer to the wolves. Selene stayed on her table. This was Derek's conversation and not hers.

"What do you want?" Derek asked, he seemed oddly calm.
"Since I just turned 16 a month ago, I wouldn't mind getting my license. I can't do that if I'm dead, you know." Erica shrugged.
"Well, I told you there was a price." Derek's voice was slightly louder.

"Yeah, but you didn't say it would be like this." Boyd defended. Selene loudly scoffed.
"We told you about the hunters." She hopped off the table. "We told you everything and you still decided to become like us." Derek held his hand up. Selene stopped talking.

"I taught you how to survive. You do it as a pack. And you're not a pack without an Alpha." Derek's voice got louder and louder as the sentence went on.
"We know." Boyd said. There was silence.
"You wanna look for another pack? How are you even gonna find one?"
"We think we already did." Boyd stated.

Erica began telling them of their searching last night.
"Like all of a sudden we heard all this howling. It was unbelievable."
"There must have been a dozen of them." Boyd added.
"Maybe more."

"Yeah, or maybe only two." Derek was visibly annoyed now. "You know what the Beau Geste effect is? If they modulate their howls with a rapid shift in tone, 2 wolves can sound like 20."
"Look that doesn't matter, okay?" Erica was also getting annoyed. "There's another pack out there. There's got to be. We've made up our minds."
Yeah, we lost, Derek. And it's over. We're leaving."

"No. No, you're running. And once you start, you don't stop. You'll always be running."
"Trust us." Selene said. Erica shook her head and grabbed Boyd before leaving. Before Derek and Selene could relax again Peter turned up in the doorway. Derek without hesitation threw a shard of glass at his uncle which Peter caught easily.

"I expected a slightly warmer welcome. But, point taken."
"You are back! I saw you that night!" Selene pointed at him. "I thought you were an hallucination."
"Very observant Little Sel. Gold star." Peter mocked.
"You saw him and you didn't tell me?" Derek asked.
"I thought he was a hallucination!" Selene repeated herself.

Peter lifted both of his hands.
"Now, now children. Settle down. We have more important things to discuss like, the situation you've got yourself in here, Derek. I mean, I'm out of commission for a few weeks and suddenly there's lizard people, geriatric psychopaths, and you're cooking up werewolves out of every self-esteem deprived adolescent in town and our dear Little Sel has powers none of us could have foreseen." Peter smiled at Selene who glared back at him.
"What do you want?"
"Well, I want to help. You're my nephew. She's might as well be my niece. The only relatives that I have left. You know, there's still a lot that I can teach you, both of you. Can we just talk?"
"Sure. Let's talk." Derek agreed morphing into his wolf self. Selene rolled her eyes. Men.

"I'm going to make sure they are okay." Selene said standing up dusting her legs off. Derek and Peter had been fighting so long the sun had gone down.
"Why. They left. None of your concern anymore." Peter shrugged.
"Peter. I know it's been a while since you've had a real pack, someone you care about, we look after each other. They may want to leave. But right now, they are still a part of our pack."
"Wow, she meets her mentis alterum and she goes all love sick on us all."
"Excuse me?" She asked taken aback.
"Nothing Little Sel. You go protect the pack that abandoned you." Selene hesitated for a moment before following the scent of Boyd and Erica.
------------

They were making lots of noise. But Selene wasn't. She knew how to walk through the woods as silent as a ghost. She knew how to avoid the twigs from snapping underneath her feet. Erica and Boyd clearly hadn't learned that yet. Selene heard the howls through the air. They were right. There was another pack. A few more minutes and she heard them again. But this time she knew something was up. It was a recording.

The wolves howled at the same volume in the same order. Impossible. It was a trap. Selene ran up to the two wolves.
"Selene! What are you doing here?" Erica asked. "We said we were leaving now let us go."
"Shhhh! It's a trap. Please trust me." Selene began to hunch slightly getting ready for an attack. Boyd and Erica believed her. They all heard it at once. A motor. The hunters were close. "Run!" Selene instructed and all three of them ran like they had never before.

No matter how fast they ran they couldn't out run them. Selene wasn't sure what power their motors had but they were fast and gaining on them.
"Come on!" Selene shouted. Trying with all her might to push herself and the others forward. Right now they were her responsibility. "We can do this!"

They couldn't. They ran and ran until they realized their mistake. They had run into an open part of the forest.
"Zig zag!" Selene instructed. "If you run in a straight line they can get you. Run in different directions until we get to the other side of the clearing." As they ran the motors stopped. It was like a sport to the hunters. They really did see them like wild dogs. Selene continued running until she heard Erica scream. Turning around she saw the girl on the floor. She rushed back to get her. She had been got in the legs. A short purposely made to stop them from running any further.

"No, No, Run." Erica begged Boyd and Selene.
"Erica, I'm here to protect you." Selene said, her eyes flashing yellow. She looked up at the hunter who shot Erica and didn't know if it was expected or surprising. Allison.

Boyd took steps forward to protect his friends. Selene worked on trying to get Erica up but it wasn't working. Her legs were too badly damaged.
"Boyd go. I have this. Go!" Selene shouted. Boyd looked down at the two girls and nodded before running off. Allison was getting closer. Selene stood up and faced her. Allison let an arrow fly but Selene easily caught it.

"Allison what are you doing?" Selene asked her best friend, hoping to get her to see sense. To get her back from inside the hunter. There was silence. "You're my best friend Allison. You aren't like this. You are kind. Stop this and we can talk about it."

Allison let another arrow fly but this time. It was caught by Boyd. He had come back. His eyes were yellow like Selene's and they were ready to go down fighting to save the Erica. Allison began to smirk. She aimed her bow at Selene but then to Boyd and back to Selene. She was toying with them. Neither of them knew who she was going to fire at until too late. The arrow stuck Boyd in the stomach.

"Allison stop!" Selene shouted. Selene tried using her powers but she was concentrating too much on trying to keep Erica and Boyd alive. This time an arrow shot Selene in the leg. Boyd's leg quickly followed. Allison was blind to what she was doing. She had been corrupted by Gerard. A few arrows later the three wolves were on the floor looking up at Allison.

"Stop!" Erica begged as the three of them bled all over the floor. Wolves cant heal while the arrows are still inside.
"Allison! I thought we were friends!" Selene begged. "If you need to kill any of us kill me, don't kill them! They haven't done anything wrong. Derek is my family. They were dragged into this. If you want revenge on him, kill me. Not them."

Allison lifted her bow this time aiming at Selene's head. Selene would have closed her eyes, but she wanted to look Allison in the face as it happened. She wanted Allison to know that this would be the point of no return. So she knew her actions would have consequences. Selene wanted Allison to remember this face for the rest of her life.

Suddenly a gun shot filled the air. All of them looked to the right and saw Chris. He snatched the bow from Allison and promptly broke it. The other hunters looked at him unsure of what to do. Chris nodded at the men who blindfolded the wolves and tied them up with wolfs bane ropes. They couldn't escape and they had no idea where they were going but at least they were alive. For now.
