There was an elephant in the room. Not a literal one, although given Beacon Hills' past it wouldn't surprise anyone. Selene was sat there in a shirt covered with blood. Not all of it hers. Although her wounds had healed a few hours ago. Isaac was sulking away from the pair. He was on the run and he was embarrassed by how he had acted. His first full moon and he had attacked a pack member.
"Derek?" Selene asked. "What happened last night?" Derek looked back at her puzzled. He tilted his head slightly.
"What do you mean?" To him nothing bad did happen last night. They successfully saved Isaac from being murdered. Yes, Selene and Isaac had gotten into a fight but that was normal. Maybe Selene was too young to remember the number of brawls that used to occur in the hale house.
"Ever since we've been back here in Beacon Hills, I've had no control. We have been here 3 moons and I've lost control every singe one. When it was me you and Laura in New York I was fine. I had complete and utter control." Selene explained. Derek looked at her, listening to every word. As her Alpha it was his duty to listen to her problems, and as a surrogate big brother.
"Last night. Heck, even during the day! Jackson made me so mad. I attacked him in the middle of school! And at the station, when that man kicked Stiles' over I felt like I could kill him. I wanted to kill him. It was almost like I was experiencing my first full moon just like..."
"Isaac." Derek finished.
"So, you know what is happening?" She asked with hope.
"My mother. I heard her talking about it one time, I didn't think much of it at the time but it makes perfect sense... We already know wolves are more attuned to others people's emotions and some more than others. Like we thought with you. But there are some wolves who can manipulate emotions... I think my mother called them, empathic. Empathic wolves, they can make people feel anger, sadness. Even love. But the opposite is also true. If concentrated enough, the emotions of the people around the empathic wolves can affect them too. What if the full moons never bothered you before because they never affected Laura and I." Selene nodded understanding.
"And the reason they have been affecting me now is because of Scott and Isaac... The reason yesterday felt like my first moon is because it was Isaac's first moon."
"Exactly." Derek said. "This could be a problem. If I'm raising a pack, there is going to be a lot more newly turned wolves. Their emotions could destroy you... Or worse. You remember the stories of white wolves?"
"Oh Derek." Selene scoffed. "White wolves don't exist. They were made up to keep young wolves in check." Derek shrugged. She had a point. White wolves were wolves whose eyes weren't yellow, blue or red. They turned a silver-y white, like the moon. When a wolves eyes turned white it was because the moon controlled them. They had no control of themselves.
"Either way. If you are empathic, we need to train you. You need to control it and not let it control you... like last night."
"I have another question. Something I've avoided talking to you about, cause it's kind of embarrassing to talk about it with someone you consider your brother... Stiles. When I first met him. I felt a pull towards him. Like my mind wanted me to be with him and now that I am. It feels..." She couldn't describe it. Derek nodded.
"It has been known that those with empathic powers do have a connection to someone. A bond. Like an emotional tether to stop them from going off the rails. Its kind of like..." He scoffed and shook his head. "It's like a soul mate. You love them and they love you. As long as you have... Stiles... around. You wont lose control."
"And that will happen because... I love him?"
They had only known each other two full months and a few days. Love? That felt too much. What even was love? She understood a reason to have a tether. The universe demands balance. You can't have someone who can control people's actions through emotions running around doing what they want. You need someone or something to keep them grounded. An anchor. Love? A soul mate? That just sounds like a made up fairy tail.

"Selene it's me. Stiles. This is like the fifty thousandth message I've left for you. Please. Just let me know you're okay." Selene listened to the message that was left on her phone. He was right. This was the latest of many messages he had left for her. She wanted to press the dial button but she couldn't. She was left on babysitting duty of Isaac while Derek was out looking for another possible pack member. Also, the idea of the two having a bond frightened her slightly.
"Sounds like trouble in paradise." Isaac's newly found cocky voice bled through the silence of the room. Selene rolled her eyes at the boy. One fight with the hunters and he felt like he owned the world.
"It's none of your business Isaac." She tucked her phone back in her pocket and looked at the wolf in front of her.
"Doesn't all of this pack family thing make it my business?" Isaac stood up and walked towards Selene. He walked with false power. "Word on the street is your friends are going to the ice rink without you." He cocked his head to one side and clicked his tongue.
"And whose fault is that? Derek doesn't trust you alone therefore I need to be here to baby sit you. They aren't going without me. I didn't go with them."
"Isn't that the same thing?" He was still slowly making his way over to her. She shook her head at him. "Aren't you worried what Stiles and Lydia might get up to while you're not there?"
"Stiles can do what he wants. I'm not his father." She bit back. Isaac knew exactly which buttons to press. He had heard the conversation between Selene and Derek earlier. They weren't being quiet. He knew that Selene and Stiles were supposed 'soul mates.'
"Even if it is with another girl?" Isaac took the final step. He was close as he could be to her. His breath on her face. There was no personal space between the two of them.
"Even then." Selene whispered not moving.
"Does that mean you can do what you want with another guy." Selene didn't move. "Last night when you were on top of me. It did things to me..." He bit his lip.
"It means..." She trailed off. She put her hand in his hair slowly. Isaac closed his eyes. She pulled hard backwards removing him from her personal space. "You had better back off before I knock you out. How does that sound?"
"Selene!" Derek's voice seemingly called from everywhere. She let go of Isaac and walked towards Derek. He had brought a girl she recognized with him.
"Hello." Selene greeted the new girl. The girl smirked in response. Great, another cocky one.
---------------------
"Selene. It's been 2 days. I'm going out of my frickin' mind. Please call me back. I saw you get hurt and I know you're a god damned werewolf but it's killing me." She listened the sadness in his voice. She didn't need to be empathic to know how he was feeling. She walked over to a corner of the warehouse and dialed Stiles number. He answered almost immediately.
"Selene?" He said with hope.
"Hey Stiles." She couldn't help but smile down the phone.
"It's been two days and I get a 'hey stiles'. I should be mad at you but... just hearing your voice..." he paused.
"Yeah. I get what you mean." She was grinning. "Sorry I couldn't call sooner. I've been stuck baby sitting Isaac making sure he doesn't get into any more trouble. He's been driving me up the wall. Don't get me started on Erica..."
"I completely understand. Do you know what she did to me?"
"What she did to you?" Selene asked calmly. She sat up straight. "What did she do to you?" She repeated a little more uncalmly.
"She knocked me out... with my own car's engine! She dumped my unconscious body in a garbage dumpster. I'm currently at the repair shop getting it fixed. My head still hurts." Selene had to stop herself from crushing her phone in her hand.
"When I get my hands on her." She growled down the phone. Stiles was silent. "Stiles? Stiles?"
"Oh my god. Selene. I need you to get here. Right now. Selene help me!" His phone cut off. Selene stood up and marched over to Erica.
"What ever you did to Stiles. I will do to you ten times over. Touch him again and you'll regret it." she growled. She didn't have time to threaten her but she wanted to make her feelings known. Erica laughed and twirled a piece of hair around her finger. Isaac joined in the laughter. Selene grabbed the other female wolf's head and smashed it off the table. There was an audible crack. Erica screamed for Derek. Derek looked at her. He wanted to scold Selene for fighting with other members of the pack but from what he read as a child... Nothing could stop a wolf from getting revenge on someone hurting their soul mate. Nothing.
