Race to Start
Forgive me, I am blind
Let me walk alone though
Please don't mind.
Forgive the taps of my cane too
But leave me to my own device
I have no trouble passing through
Being by myself will suffice.
While you're here, let's talk
Don't go so fast
I can barely walk.
I forgot my name, number, and letters
Perhaps you can help me
Make my walk better.
Do me a favor
Cover your eyes
And step in a room
Don't be surprised
Once you see doom.
Long ago I gave up ignorance
This after I saw it
In the participants
Hardly they knew it.
Please walk fast now
My words may be slurred
But if you don't understand
Don't say a word.
I know you know of what they call me
Nasty words
But ones every child will see.
These words are poison that sharpens
Our eyes
Don't ever repeat them
Or closer you'd die.
Life is a thorny rose
That grows and wilts
Sight is a poisoned rose
That stabs and kills.
Many have died because other's sights have sharpened
Later in the years this idea has lightened.
Well I have only a little more in this race
A race to see what race will start
I have told you and done my part.
I am sad to say that I have lied
Nor am I ill, sick, or evil
I am just color blind.
