Falling

The spa had not been as relaxing as Starry had hoped, even with her hooves polished and cut, her mane trimmed and cleaned to perfection, she felt wrong. The mare cantered through Ponyville, stopping to look at flower shops, sweet shops, the Apple Family cart, and anything that caught her eyes for more than a minute.

She felt silly for feeling like this.

The silver pendant she was looking at didn't seem to shimmer like it should, so she quickly set it back down. No- This wasn't right. The mare sighed, resting her head against her polished hoof, this was a Canterlot mare walking around a small town. Was she already falling back into the mindset of that life she had gotten lucky to escape?

No.

Starry turned, bumping into the sales pony and shaking her head, "Sorry. I wasn't-"

"Calm down, Starry-" A too-familiar voice said right next to her ear ", Everything's cool."

Starry frowned, glancing at the pony and scowling when she saw Hoverstep standing behind her with a casual smile on his face. The lunacorn mare stiffened, straightened, and held her nose high.

"Hoverstep-" She replies cooly ", Got a job, I see?"

"Something like that-" Hoverstep rounded her, glancing at the pendant she had been looking at, lifting it in his magic ", Looking for something new?"

"Get off my tail, Hoverstep," Starry snapped ", I'm not in the mood for your antics, especially after that stunt you pulled when I got here. Pretending you had no idea who I was is a low blow, even for you."

"Aw, come on Starry-" The white unicorn turned to her with a laugh "- You're not holding that against me. Are you?"

"You I am-" Starry snapped, baring her fangs ever so slightly "- I'm holding you accountable for many things."

"Like?" Hover asked with a chuckle.

"Like the foal you convinced me to terminate-" She hissed, her tail flicking behind her ", Your abandonment of me. Your playboy nature. Say, Hover- Why it is so hard for you to keep a marefriend these days? Can't fool them with your city stallion nature?"

"Sweet Solar Nourish Starry-" Hoverstep laughed, hesitation on his breath "- Going hard, are we?"

"Back off Hoverstep-" She snapped at him once more ", Or today isn't going to end well for either of us."

"Gods-" Hoverstep muttered, stepping back and raising his brow at her ", What happened to you? You and the old fuck fight and break up or something?"

Starry saw red, she snapped towards him and shoved him with a hoof ", Don't you dare call him that-"

"What the hell, Star-" He stumbled back at her push, bumping into the set of jewlery displays behind him.

"Don't call me that, Hover!" She yelled at him, catching the attention of the ponies walling by. She stepped towards him.

"You have made my life so much harder than it EVER need to be!" She continued, stepping towards him ", You are the reason that EVERYTHING went wrong! You! You are the biggest problem that anyone would have to deal with!"

Hoverstep frowned, his eyes narrowing at her.

"You're a bitch you know that?" He snapped at her ", You're the one who slept with me- You're the one who dated me- You're the shallow city girl who wanted some adventure with the transfur guy!"

"Fuck you-" She screamed, slammings her hooves on the ground, her horn ignigting in a blur of brilliant sky blue magic. She snarled, stepping towards him, her hoof loud against the dirt. She couldn't hear anything except the roaring of her blood in her ears. "Fuck you- Hoverstep- I HOPE someone breaks you the way you broke me-"

Without a second's notice, she lot control, her magic twisted around Hoverstep, lifting him into the air. As the blue magic surrounded him, Starry could feel Hover's heart rate increasing with her own, her breaths came out in short breaths that matched his. The pain from everything he had cause, the break up, the foal, it hit him all at once.

She could feel it too, the betrayal, the sadness and anger that washed over herself and then him. He couldn't move, nor could he speak, he could only feel. As the magic lifted him into the air, higher and higher, they could feel the pain and anger as if it were his own. The magic forced the feeling of sadness, the pain of being left behind and abandined, he could feel the anger and frustration being lied to and betrayed.

Everything that Starry had felt over those days and months, he could feel it too, all at once.

Starry watched in a rage as he tried to fight against the magic, but hers was too strong. She trapped him, suspended in the air like a puppet on a string. The mare couldn't help but push the full force of her emotions into him with the psychic link between them. Starry could feel the tears screaming down his face as the pain between them became overwheling, she could feel tears down her own face, but for once she didn't care.

As she hung him in the air, she realized that she could feel his thought and emotions.

He realizes that Starry is using magic to make him feel her pain and her emotions. He thinks this is her revenge, her way of making him suffer, but even as he feels that pain, he can't help but feel a sense of understanding and fear of her. This was power something far stronger than he could ever do, she was tying invisible ropes around him, that bound them in intense pain. And he hated it.

The magic started to fade, Starry felt the wavering of the power in the back of her mind, trying to keep him in the air. Hoverstep fell back to the ground gasping for breath, trembling with the pain and emotions she had forced into him. The stallion started to stand, eyes wide and terrified of her.

"You're fucking insane-" He stammered.

Starry watched as he stood there, knowing full well the pain and anger that Starry had showed him. She knew, in that moment, that she had bound them in a way that he would never forget, shown him things that he never would have known.

"Maybe-" She huffed, the magic in her draining of her of what energy she had ", Maybe I am- But you're the one who made me."

Starry turned, stumbling slightly as she turned away from the stallion. She could feel the eyes on her, with that amount of magic used, how could anypony not notice her? She attempted to march towards the complex, but her weakness left her lagging. She stumbled throught the doors, squeezing her eyes shut as tears ran down her face.

This was too awful.

What has she done?

Was there any way to fix it?

How was she supposed to do anything if she couldn't control herself? And worse off, there wasn't any sign of this before. What she done had never happened before.

The real question was if it would happen again.
