Diary of Nova Blight

Dearest Rolling Thunder,

It has come to my attention that Father is hiding something from me and I require your assistance this time around. Disgression is much advised when it comes to this situation because I am unaware of how serious this matter may become, but I ask the truth of you and what you can tell me.

In Father's papers, I have found the records of a stallion named Stone River, and a court case that involves him. The court case involved an attack on the border of the Dragonlands and Equestria, but in my extensive digging on the matter, there is no formal record of an attack during the Cold War.

There are no attack records during the 4 year period of the war.

Not only that but there is no record of the stallion in question, which makes me wonder what the Canterlot Archives have on him. When I checked, there was nothing, and I find that strange. Nonetheless, I did as much digging as I possibly could when it came to the stallion and turned up with nothing. Seeing as you were a Private at the time of these wars and have moved up to general (congratulations by the way, I meant to say so sooner), I hoped you could enlighten me on the goings on.

This Stone River was a soldier in the war, sent on a scouting mission into the dead lands between the two nations. A mission that should have never happened. So I ask that you look for me, see what you can find in the records because something isn't right here and it all started with Starry.

Speaking of, I was also wondering if we could track her down somehow, find her and make sure she is okay. I have written to Uncle Jimbia as well and he has heard no word from my dear sister, and I miss her terribly and I worry about her well-being.

I hope everything is doing well for you and I hope to hear from you soon,

Nova Blight.

--Two Days Later--

Dearest Nova,

You ask a very dangerous thing of me, little cousin, and I regret to inform you that your search will only gain you trouble. That court case that you speak of was never supposed to happen or see the light of day, nor the light of the moon. I do not think even the princesses know of this case, seeing as both would have far more mercy toward your phantom stallion than the elite, your father included.

In my own slight digging, seeing as your accusations piqued my interest, I could find little to nothing on the case or Stone River, except his dishonorable discharge from the Guard. This was fascinating in itself, seeing as there has been non-such situation in years passed, most guards are primarily for show unless part of a particular ops unit.

From the records found, Stone River was a stallion from Dodge Junction, the middle child of three who lied about his age to get into the Guard. Very common ground. And no record of where he went after he was disbanded.

I have contacted some of the soldiers in his year to see who might know where he went, as well as reaching out to his family.

On the record of Starry, I find it appalling what your father has done to her and what that coltfriend of her's left her with. I have nothing but contempt for the two and will continue to have less for your mother, who did nothing to help her daughter. I do not blame you, you are still but a filly, but finding Starry has been a side project of mine.

According to what few records I have found, Starry took a train as far as she could, making her way to Sneakiesville and then toward Ponyville. It is possible that she resides there, and if need be, I can send a patrol of guards out to scope the area. Paperwork ensues but it is a necessary risk I am willing to take. I suggest reaching out to Father once more, to see what resources he can spare if we happen to find Starry, I am sure that he will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for the congratulations and I hope to see you again soon, perhaps in town for tea on the third Sunday of the month.

General Rolling Thunder of the Second Guard.
