Reunion of the Star-Crossed Lovers

"Wake up, Iris!"

The said girl groaned, rolling over and burying her head under the soft pillow on the bed the Weasleys gave her.

The warm blankets were suddenly ripped off of her body making Iris gasp and sit up to glare at the culprit only to find her best friend, Hermione, grinning down at her.

"Hermione! Did you just get here?"

Hermione nodded as the two girls collided in an excited hug.

"I already woke up Ginny, I'm gonna go get the boys now," Hermione said, walking toward the door, "Get dressed, Mrs Weasley says breakfast is almost ready."

After Hermione left, Iris hurriedly got dressed and grabbed her rucksack before hopping down the stairs gleefully.

She sat at the Weasley's long wooden table and waited a few minutes for the rest of the group to come downstairs. Hermione joined her with Ginny just a moment after Iris had sat, and they waited while they ate breakfast, discussing their excitement about the Cup until the boys all arrived.

"Why do we have to be up so early?" Ginny said, rubbing her eyes as her father sat down at the table.

"We've got a bit of a walk," Mr Weasley answered.

"Walk?" asked Harry, "What, are we walking to the World Cup?"

"No, no, that's miles away," said Mr Weasley, smiling. "We only need to walk a short way. It's just that it's very difficult for a large number of wizards to congregate without attracting Muggle attention. We have to be very careful about how we travel at the best of times, and on a huge occasion like the Quidditch World Cup..."

Soon after they finished breakfast, the Weasleys and company were out the door and on their way to some mystery location only Mr Weasley knew about. Iris walked beside her brother and Ron, with Hermione and Ginny just a couple steps ahead.

"Where are we actually going?" Harry asked Ron.

The ginger boy shrugged, "Don't know," he then yelled up ahead of them to Mr Weasley, "Hey Dad! Where are we going?"

Mr Weasley turned and glanced at them for a second before continuing to march onward, calling, "Haven't the foggiest, keep up!"

They hiked through the forest for another few minutes before Iris heard a voice ring out from up ahead, "Arthur! It's about time son!"

He chuckled. Iris' brows furrowed for a second, her mind searching, before her eyes widened dramatically. She walked faster, going past the other kids as Mr Weasley spoke back to the man.

"Sorry, Amos. Some of us had a bit of a sleepy start. This is Amos Diggory, everyone, he works with me at the ministry," Mr Weasley introduced the man.

Then, out of seemingly nowhere, two young boys dropped from the branches hanging overhead.

"Ah!" Mr Weasley grinned, then gestured at one of them, "And this strapping young lad must be --"

"CEDRIC!" A squeal broke out, causing a massive smile to grow on said boy's face.

He took a few steps forward meeting Iris as she practically jumped on him in a hug. The two lovers held each other tightly for a few moments, both glowing with happiness at the reunion. They pulled back, each holding the other's face in their hands as they grinned at one another.

"I missed you so much!" Iris spoke quietly.

Cedric moved his hands to hold hers, "I missed you more!"

A cough sounded from behind Cedric and the two turned to look at the maker of the sound.

Amos Diggory was smiling broadly at the young couple, "Well, Cedric, I do believe I've waited long enough to meet your girl, introduce us already!"

The other boy, who Iris had not yet met but recognized instantly, laughed, "Yeah, Ced, introduce us already!"

Iris' boyfriend chuckled as he turned, standing beside her. He gestured between the Iris and the two standing before them.

"Iris, this is my dad and best mate, Issac. Issac, Dad, this is my girlfriend, Iris," Cedric introduced.

Mr Diggory eagerly stepped forward, holding his hand out for her to shake, "Great, great pleasure."

Issac waved to her with a cheerful smile. Amos checked the golden watched wrapped around his wrist, turning to Mr Weasley.

"We all best get going, or we'll be late."

With that, the large group of witches and wizards resumed their hike through the forest and up a hill. Iris and Cedric has their hands intertwined swinging between the two as they walked. The sun was just rising over the gentle grassy slopes in the distance as they broke through the tree line and it cast a golden glow over the scene before them.

As the group began up the hill before them, Iris noticed something sitting at the peak.

"That's it, just over there," Mr Weasley told them, pointing at the object.

As they got closer, Iris realized it was an old boot that was nestled in the grass and covered in dirt. Ginny ran on ahead, reaching the boot first followed just a few seconds later by the rest of them crowding around. Iris stared at the boot in confusion, wondering why they were all gathering around it.

Portkey.

Iris recognized the term from a book she had read, or maybe it was a class from the years before, she couldn't remember. But she knew what it was, and was excited to experience travelling by portkey.

"Go on, gather 'round! Get yourself into a good position," Amos instructed them, gesturing in a circular motion around the boot. "C'mon!"

Cedric guided her around the boot and into a crouching position. Hermione was on her other side, looking just as confused as Iris, and on Cedric's other side was Issac, looking as if he commonly used the method of transportation (which he probably did).

They all stood there, in a tight circle, as a chill breeze swept over the hilltop. Nobody spoke. It suddenly occurred to Iris how odd the scene would look if a Muggle were to walk up there at that moment...eleven people, two of them grown men, clutching a manky old boot in the rising sunlight, waiting...

"Ready! After three," Mr Diggory told them, checking his watch, "One... two --"

Iris then noticed that her idiotic brother hadn't grabbed the boot like the rest of them.

"Harry!"

Spurred into motion with wide eyes he quickly touched the shoe, and just in time as Mr Diggory called out,

"Three!"

It happened immediately: Iris felt as though a hook just behind her navel had been suddenly jerked irresistibly forward. Her knees left the ground; she could feel Cedric and Hermione on either side of her, their shoulders banging into her's; they were all speeding forward in a howl of wind and swirling colour; her forefinger was stuck to the boot as though it was pulling her magnetically onward and then -

"Let go kids!"

Iris' head whipped to Mr Weasley, who had just spoken, eyes wide in terror, "What!?"

The man chuckled before repeating himself, "Let go!"

Iris exchanged a nervous look with Hermione before squeezing her eyes shut and releasing her grasp on the boot. The young girl went shooting backwards through the air with a short scream, falling from the sky and crashing onto the grassy field below with an audible thump. She heard the rest of her friends land around her, all of them groaning.

Iris rolled from her stomach to her back, laying on top of her full backpack as she squinted up at the bright sky. Above them, Mr Weasley, Mr Diggory, Issac, and Cedric were easily floating down from the sky. Iris rolled her eyes at the smirk on her boyfriend's face as he landed in front of her.

"Shut up," Iris grumbled.

He laughed, holding his hand out to help her up, "I didn't even say anything!"

"Your face did," she retorted, taking his hand.

The odd group quickly made their way up a gentle slope and when they reached the top Iris' lips parted as she surveyed what was in front of her with awe. It was like a rainbow had exploded over the expansive field. There were hundreds of tents crowded around one another, all varying in colour, size, and shape.

In between the tents, there were thousands of witches and wizards milling about, talking loudly and purchasing things from the several kiosks that were littered around. People were flying around on brooms overhead, racing each other across the campsite.

"Well kids, welcome to the Quidditch World Cup!" Mr Weasley said cheerily to the awestruck teenagers.

They walk into the crowd, taking in the sights. Music was booming throughout the aisles and people were laughing and dancing gleefully.

They were wandering for only a minute before Iris heard someone call out from a little way in front of them,

"Cedric, Issac!"

They all turned to find a young-looking girl around their age jumping up and down and waving her hands at them. There was a boy that looked to be the same age as Cedric standing beside her waving at them with a large grin on his face.

Iris recognized them immediately; Maddie and Kasper, Cedric's friends.

The two boys beside Iris lit up when they saw their friends and rushed toward them, meeting in the middle as they all jumped on each other. Iris and the others laughed as they attacked each other in greeting.

Maddie was the first one to split from the group, walking over to them with a friendly smile. She went towards Iris first, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet and making her long dark curls bob as she greeted the girl.

"Iris! It's so nice to finally meet you! Cedric's told me so much about you, I feel like I know you already!"

Maddie grinned at her, engulfing the younger witch into a gentle hug.

Iris returned the gesture, grinning widely at the girl, "It's great to meet you too!"

The other three boys walked up behind Maddie, messing around and shoving each other jokingly. Kasper sent her a small wave and greeted her.

Mr Diggory, who had been speaking to Mr Weasley then turned to the new arrivals with a big smile.

"Ah! Maddie, Kasper! I hope we haven't kept you two waiting for long."

"Don't worry Mr Diggory," Maddie reassured, "My dad just dropped us off a few minutes ago. Kasper and I were just about to go find the tent when we saw you guys."

"Perfect!" the older wizard said before turning back to Mr Weasley, "Parting of the waves I think old chap, see you at the match!"

"See you at the match!" Mr Weasley echoed, shaking the man's hand. He turned to the four teenagers, "Nice meeting you all!"

They all waved goodbye to the bunch of gingers, Iris, Harry, and Hermione. Cedric stepped up to Iris grabbing her hands gently as he smiled down at her. The corners of her eyes crinkled as she stared back at him with a smile of her own

"I'll see you later then?" He asked.

Iris nodded in agreement before the two moved in sync meeting in the middle. She had missed the way his lips felt on hers. The rush of energy she got from being around him. They parted only when Iris heard a gagging noise come from behind her.

She turned her head to see a look of absolute disgust upon Harry's face. The ones on Fred, George, and Ron's faces were no better. Iris' eyes narrowed on them in warning before she turned back to Cedric.

"You should probably go before the dogs attack," Iris giggled.

Once the four Hufflepuffs and Mr Diggory had left the rest of them continued on through the campsite until they reached a small standard looking beige tent.

"Home sweet home." Mr Weasley ushered them inside before following.

Iris and Harry remained outside the tent, staring at it in confusion and wondering how on earth it was meant to fit all of them. They exchanged a glance before slowly walking closer and pulling one of the door flaps back.

Walking inside, the twins had identical facial expressions with their jaws dropped and eyebrows furrowed as they turned in a circle, observing it all.

The inside of the tent had to be ten times the size of the outside and it was well furnished, containing both a kitchen and restroom.

"Girls, choose a bunk and unpack. Ron, get out of the kitchen, we're all hungry," Mr Weasley instructed.

The Weasley twins, who were sitting at the dining room table with their feet kicked up on the long wooden slab spoke in unison, "Yeah, get out of the kitchen, Ron."

Their dad turned to them pointing a finger as he walked by, "Feet off the table."

"Feet off the table." they echoed, removing their feet until he walked by and then putting them back where they were.

Iris slung her arm around her twin's neck, grinning over at him.

"I love magic," he muttered.
