David's Pov
Screams ring across the small hospital room. Tears rush down Emma's cheeks and onto her thin hospital gown.
"It's going to be alright, sweetheart," I hold her hand and run my hand down my daughter's face, moving hair out of her face.
She squeezes my hand tighter as the pain worsens. I can hardly stand to see her like this, in so much pain.
"Dad," She manages to whimper as the pain subsides from her face, "I can't do this. I need Killian. We were supposed to do this together."
"I know honey, but he is going to make it. I will ensure that," I say, hoping with my entire soul that he does.
Snow walks into the room.
"David," she motions to me to follow her outside.
"I will be back Emma. Okay? I love you," I kiss my baby girl's hand, as she nods, almost completely broken and it breaks my heart as well. I walk out of the room with my wife.
As soon as the door shuts, Snow turns to me, a grim look on her face.
"David, Regina found Killian," she says.
"Well that's amazing news. I am going to tell Emma," I smile.
I knew that hope would pay off.
"David... it's not like that," Snow winces.
"What do you mean? What's wrong? This is great news," I exclaim.
"He's on his way to the hospital right now," Snow says, looking away.
"And?"
"In an ambulance. He got attacked. David, he is in bad shape," Snow sighs.
I gasp, holding my hand to my face.
"Regina and Henry should be here any minute with him, they rode with the ambulance, to keep an eye on him, but I'm afraid Emma won't have Killian with her right now. She's going to have to do it alone and we are all going to have to pray that Killian makes it out of this alive," Snow face falls, "I can't believe our daughter is going to have to go through this alone again."
I try to process all the information I just took in. I felt something stab at my stomach. I just want my daughter to have a happy ending, but we did this to her. We made her the savior and she had paid for it every step of the way. Was it selfish to let her on the path she is now?
I have to be there for her. I have to fix this as best as I can.
"She won't be," I wrap my arms around my wife, "She's got us. We will make sure she makes it through this."
"I just want her to be happy," Snow relaxes in my chest.
"I know. I know," I say not knowing how we can allow for her to be happy again if she loses him again.
Door slam open on the other side of the hallway. Paramedics rush a bloodied man on a stretcher in the hospital. Henry and Regina run in beside the man, Henry holding the man's hand, crying.
Snow and I rush over to them.
Henry is screaming, as Regina pries Henry away from Killian, but Henry struggles against her.
"Henry, let go," Regina says.
"No. I won't let him die. I won't lose another father," Henry cries back.
I run over, pulling Henry off of Killian.
He screams and tries to escape.
"Henry. He will only live if you can let the doctors do their job," I shout over his screams.
Henry collapses in my arms, finally stopping the struggle against me.
Henry cries. Regina and Snow gather around him. We all hug him, trying to offer words of encouragement.
Henry hugs Regina tightly, "He's going to be alright Henry. He's a survivor, just like your mother and you."
Regina brushes back Henry's hair, as Henry huddles into her shoulder, looking more like a child than a sixteen year old boy.
I stand up and walk over to one of the paramedics at the front desk.
"Excuse me?" I ask, taping him on the shoulder.
"Yes," he turns around, "How can I help you?"
"Do you know what's wrong with the patient that just came in? Killian Jones? What is the extent of his injuries?" I question.
"It is not for certain, but I can only assume that there are multiple fractures, possibly some organ damage, a concussion, and most likely some very serious internal bleeding. It will mostly depend on that, the bleeding, but we are taking him into surgery right now. So we will find out soon," he says with a straight face.
"Thank you," I walk back over to my family, seeing the doctors wheel Killian down the hallway where I just was, towards an operating room.
"How bad is it?" Henry asks, finally somewhat called down.
"He's going to be okay," I lie.
I rub Henry's shoulder, comfortingly, as another doctor walks up to me.
"Sheriff?" He asks.
"Yes," I say turning around.
"We are moving Mrs. Jones to the delivery room, so we can get started. You wanted to be in the room with her in place of the husband, correct?" He responds.
"Yes." I gulp.
"Okay, we ask that you change into hospital sterile clothes, for safety reasons," He adds.
"Of course. I will be right there, just give me a moment," I say.
He nods walking off.
I turn to Snow, pulling her aside, "What am I going to tell Emma?"
"There is nothing else we can do, but tell her the truth," she touches my arm, reassuring me.
I nod, walking off to go change.
I change quickly into the yellow, papery, robes, and join Emma into the delivery room.
"Dad. Where's Killian? Did you find him?" Emma asks, looking more drained by the second.
"Emma..." I try to find the strength to tell her, "Killian was attacked on his way home from Regina's. He's going to surgery now."
"No," she begins to tear up again, "Is he going to be okay?"
"I... I don't know," I decide to be honest with her.
She breaks down, bawling. I hug her cradling her head.
"Emma. He needs you, but first you need to take care of yourself and your child, okay?" I smooth down her sweaty, frizzy hair.
She nods, crying the last of her tears into chest, before almost crushing my hand as another contraction barrels through her.
Killian's Pov
Everything's fuzzy.
My ears ring, and my head feels like it's about to implode. My body is stiff. I moan. I can't move. Everything in my body is either stinging or burning.
I try to open my eyes, but the light is too bright and causes the pain in my head to intensify.
I just want the pain to stop. I just want the pain to go away. It's too much.
Wait! Where's Emma? Where am I? Is she worried?
The last thing I remember was the fight and everything in my brain shutting down.
Screaming echoes across the space around me. Bloody hell. My head pounds at the loud noise. Would someone shut that person up? I probably have a concussion and it hurts like hell.
Emma.
It's Emma screaming. What happened? Is she screaming toward me? Is she looking for me? Am I dying?
The baby!
Suddenly the thought hits me like a thousand lightning bolts. I'm in a hospital. She's in labor.
She needs me.
I don't care if I'm tied to a bloody hospital bed or dying.
I need to get to her.
What do we think is going to happen?
I originally wanted this chapter longer and to include the next part, but I think I like it a lot better separated, so here you go. It's also updated sooner. Because it's shorter so yay!
Thanks for reading! You guys are awesome!
