Part : 12

Dawn's early light tinged the sky with pink and gold hues., Ram found himself standing before the mirror in his room, a tumult of emotions churning within him. The day he had long awaited, the day of his wedding to Lisa, had finally arrived. Yet, amidst the flurry of preparations and celebrations, a gnawing doubt lingered in the depths of his heart.

As he adjusted his tie and smoothed down his suit, Ram couldn't shake the feeling that he was on the brink of a decision that would shape the course of his life. Despite his outward calm, an undercurrent of turmoil roiled beneath the surface, his mind plagued by doubts and uncertainties.

For all his professed affection for Lisa, there remained a lingering shadow of doubt, a nagging sense that perhaps he had never truly moved on from his first love, Priya. In the quiet solitude of his room, with the soft light of dawn filtering through the curtains, Ram found himself confronting the truth he had long sought to bury beneath layers of denial.

With each passing moment, the weight of his conflicting emotions grew heavier, casting a pall over the joyous occasion that lay ahead. Though he had convinced himself that his feelings for Priya were a thing of the past, he couldn't shake the sense that they still held sway over his heart, refusing to be relegated to mere memories.

As he stood before the mirror, the reflection of a man torn between duty and desire stared back at him, his heart heavy with the burden of his unspoken truths. On this day of new beginnings, Ram found himself grappling with the ghosts of his past, uncertain of the path that lay before him.

In her room priya stood alone on the balcony, her gaze fixed on the horizon as the first light of dawn cast a soft glow over the landscape. The weight of impending separation hung heavy in her heart, each passing moment a reminder of the bittersweet farewell that awaited her.

As she watched the world awaken around her, a sense of resignation settled over Priya, the knowledge that from this day forth, she would have to bid farewell to the memories she had held dear. Though her heart ached at the thought of parting ways with Ram, she knew that her sacrifice was necessary for his happiness.

With a determined resolve, Priya steeled herself for the task that lay ahead, steeling her heart against the tidal wave of emotions threatening to overwhelm her. For the sake of Ram and Lisa, the two souls who had become irreplaceable pillars in her life, she vowed to bury her own feelings and embrace the role of the selfless supporter.

Despite the ache of longing that gnawed at her soul, Priya drew strength from the knowledge that her sacrifice would pave the way for the happiness of those she held dear. With each breath she took, she made a silent promise to herself to remain steadfast in her resolve, to stand by their side and usher in a new chapter of their lives with grace and dignity.

As the sun climbed higher in the sky, casting its warm embrace over the world below, Priya felt a glimmer of hope stir within her heart. Though the road ahead was fraught with uncertainty, she knew that she would face it head-on, guided by the unwavering light of love that burned within her. And as she stood on the threshold of a new beginning, Priya knew that no matter where life's journey took her, she would always carry the memories of her time with Ram close to her heart.

Just then priya heard a bang on the door so she slowly walked towards to open it. Priya stood at the door, her hand trembling slightly as she met Lisa's gaze. The young bride-to-be stood before her, radiant in her wedding attire, her eyes alight with excitement and anticipation. But Priya could see the flicker of concern that clouded Lisa's features as she took in Priya's disheveled appearance.

"Masi, what's wrong? Why aren't you ready?" Lisa's voice was laced with worry as she stepped closer, her eyes searching Priya's face for answers.

Priya took a deep breath, steeling herself for the difficult conversation that lay ahead. "Lisa, there's something I need to tell you," she began, her voice soft yet resolute.

Lisa's smile faltered slightly, replaced by a look of apprehension. "What is it, Masi? You're scaring me," she said, her tone tinged with concern.

Priya hesitated for a moment, grappling with the weight of her words. "I... I need to go back to Delhi. There's an emergency at my office," she finally confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.

The color drained from Lisa's face, her eyes widening in shock. "What? But... but the wedding..." she stammered, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Priya nodded solemnly, her heart heavy with regret. "I know, Lisa. I'm sorry. But I have to go," she said, her voice tinged with sadness.

Without another word, Lisa moved past Priya and sank onto the edge of the bed, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. The room fell silent, the weight of Priya's revelation hanging heavy in the air as they both grappled with the sudden turn of events.

Lisa's words hung heavy in the air, echoing the disappointment she felt. "How can you do this to me, Masi? Is work more important than me?"

Priya took a seat beside her, a solemn expression on her face. "I didn't want to make you sad this way, but it's very important. Let me go, Lisa. Please, I hope you understand."

Lisa's eyes softened as she reached out to Priya. "Masi, I know you are devoted to your career, and I've always appreciated that. Though it will be a little tough for me, I understand. I won't stop you."

Priya's gratitude was evident as she replied, "Thank you, Lisa," before they shared a heartfelt embrace. In the midst of their hug,

Lisa murmured, "But I'm going to miss you." Priya's voice was tinged with emotion as she responded, "Me too."

As Priya stood overlooking the wedding festivities, her heart heavy with the weight of impending departure, a familiar voice broke through her thoughts.

"Are you leaving?" Startled, she turned to find Ram standing beside her.

She hesitated, knowing his presence would only complicate things further. "Yes, but you shouldn't have come here. Go downstairs," she urged, but before she could finish, then suddenly some footsteps approached nearby.

With a sense of urgency, Ram took her hand and pulled her into a secluded corner. Priya's pulse quickened as she whispered, "What are you doing?" Ram's gaze locked with hers, his touch gentle yet firm as he cupped her face. "Why are you leaving? Do you still..." His words trailed off, but Priya knew what he meant. "No, please don't say it.Cause I don't ..." she responded, her voice faltering.

Ram stood before Priya, his eyes burning with emotion. "Why are you leaving? Why can't you just stay and witness this wedding with your own eyes?" he asked, his voice tight with frustration.

Priya, her eyes reddened and filled with tears, looked up at him. "I have an emergency," she whispered, her voice trembling.Ram let out a bitter chuckle. "Do I look like a fool to you, Priya? What do you think of yourself? I know you're trying real hard to move away from your true self, but you can't. You hear me? You just can't."

Priya felt her heart clenching as tears threatened to spill over. She struggled to find the words to respond, her emotions overwhelming her. "Ram, please," she began, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ram looked at Priya, his eyes pleading. "But we still have time, Priya. Just speak your mind. Just say you love me, for heaven's sake."

Priya met his gaze, her eyes filled with conflict. "No, I can't, Ram. It's about Lisa."

Ram's brows furrowed with confusion. "I can explain it to her," he insisted, desperation evident in his voice.

But Priya simply shook her head, her lips pressed into a firm line, silently conveying her refusal.

Unable to contain the flood of emotions any longer, Ram leaned in, their lips meeting in a passionate embrace with each other. In that fleeting moment, amidst the chaos of the wedding below, they shared a bittersweet farewell, their connection palpable in the tender exchange of their final kiss.

As their lips parted, tears welled up in their eyes, mingling with the unspoken emotions that hung heavy in the air. Priya, overwhelmed by the intensity of their final embrace, felt the weight of her decision bearing down on her. With a trembling resolve, she summoned her strength, pushing Ram away gently but firmly. In that fleeting moment, she turned and fled, each step a painful reminder of the heart-wrenching departure that lay ahead.

Ram, left standing alone in the quiet corner, watched Priya's retreating figure with a mixture of anguish and longing. His heart ached with the realization that their paths were diverging once more. As she disappeared from view, a sense of emptiness washed over him, the echoes of their shared moments haunting his thoughts. With a heavy sigh, he braced himself for the inevitable ache of her absence, knowing that their brief but profound connection would linger in his heart long after she was gone.
