CHAPTER SIX

When I awaken I am not in the car and Taehyung is nowhere in sight. As my eyes adjust I take in my surroundings, calculating a plan of escape. The room that I've found myself in is warm, and inviting. Neutral, earthy tones permeate this environment. The cream colored walls are bare, and though the chocolate colored duvet is nice it smells brand new.

I continue to look around, searching for clues as to where I am. But there are none to be had. Wherever I am, one thing is clear. This room is not used often, if at all.

It's too clean. Amidst the shelves books are lined in perfect order, and everything sits neatly in place. I stand slowly, intrigued by my surroundings. It's a pretty enough room. Decked in shades of cream and pale pink. Here and there are accents of chocolate brown. Like the pillow that rests on the armchair beside the window, or the very furniture itself.

I walk past the bookshelf, trailing my fingers along the spines of the tomes housed within as I pass. That's odd. The desk that sits next to the bookshelf is barren, devoid of all ornamentation aside from a single unopened packet of pencils. A quick inventory of the desks drawers reveals no paper, nor anything else.

As I close the drawers the sound of footsteps echoes from behind the door. I jump, startled as the door opens to reveal none other than Taehyung. I sigh in relief, clutching my chest as I attempt to catch my breath.

"I'm glad to see that you're awake!" He tells me with a smile, small tray if food in hand. "Jin said you'd be fine, that you just needed sleep. The boys are all waiting to talk to you. I held them at bay the best I could, but now that you're awake they're gonna wanna ask you some questions."

"The boys?" I ask cautiously. Though I trust Taehyung I am not certain that I can trust his friends. He sets the tray upon the desk before handing me a small glass of water. I can't seem to gulp it down fast enough.

"My brothers," he clarifies. "I have six of them."

I nearly choke, water coming out of my nose as my attempt to swallow is met with complete and utter failure. I double over, wracked with the worst case of coughs I have ever experienced. My fingers clutch Tae's shirt tightly, clinging to him like a lifeline as I continue trying to suck in some much needed air. He rubs my back soothingly, fussing over me gently as I actively die before his eyes.

Except, some how I live. I even manage to catch my breathe. "There's seven of you?" I croak out in disbelief.

I remember Yoongi, the brother who happens to be a cop. Suddenly I'm more than a little nervous. I can't be here. There's too many variables, too many risks. I groan, realizing my situation.

But Tae panics, taking my groan as a sign of pain. "What's wrong? Where does it hurt? Should I go get Jin hyung?"

He forces me to sit on the bed before scrambling out the room and down the hall in a veritable tizzy.

"Yo! Watch out! Some of us are trying to walk around here!" Shouts an unfamiliar voice.

"Sorry Jiminie!" Tae shouts in return.

After that, all I hear is silence as I wait for Taehyung to return. The seconds tick by, and soon become minutes. And as the minutes crawl I begin to wonder whether he will actually return. My muscles begin to tense in a subconscious effort to hold myself together.

Finally, after what seems like hours, noise is reintroduced into my world with a vengeance. Suddenly, the door is slammed open and there are three loud and rambunctious boys pushing at each other, each trying to enter the room first. I don't even know how to respond in such a situation. I stand frozen in shock even as the boys figure it out and begin to straighten themselves out.

The first of them is quick to proffer his hand. "I'm Jimin, I hear your name is Chloe!"

I take his hand, confusion rushing through me. All three boys stand there, with goofy grins on their faces. Are these some of Tae's brothers?

"I'm Hoseok, but you can call me Hobi," says the second excitedly. "And this blushing bag of muscles is the baby of the family, Jungkook."

The third boy, Jungkook, looks at me with equal part curiosity and terror. He looks almost visibly sickened by my prescence. I try not to be offended.

"He's just shy," Hobi says by way of explanation. "What's more important is that Tae hyung has never brought home a woman, how'd you do it?"

I gulp visibly. What do I tell them? What has he told them? Wait a second. How did I do it? He's the one who pretty much blackmailed me!

"I'll have you know that-" I begin. But I am interrupted by Tae, who is quick to cut in on the conversation as he rushes through the still open door.

"We met at a diner, she was a waitress." He tells them.

"Was a waitress?" Another unknown voice inquires.

The man that the unknown voice belongs to walks through the door not a moment later. I swear that he is the prettiest man I've ever laid eyes on. He's all broad shoulders and luscious lips, mixed with this gentle aura that just screams safety. I like him immediately.

"This is Jin," Tae says, introducing the two of us. "He's a doctor!"

"I'm sorry about these guys," Jin says, gesturing at the Jungkook, Jimin, and Hobi. "They're just too nosy for their own good. How are you feeling? Tae mentioned that you might be in some pain."

I shake my head. "I'm fine physically," I reply. "I'm just worried about my situation. Where am I? Are you going to turn me in to Jacob?"

I swallow my nausea as I await his response. At first he simply looks confused, but realization quickly takes over. "You mean the guy you're on the run from? Tae only told us a little of your situation. As for where you are," he pauses, shooting a withering look into Tae's direction "you're currently residing in our guest bedroom. Now, I have no intentions of turning you in, but I need to know your situation."

I hug my torso tightly, chewing on my bottom lip as I contemplate what I should say. On the one hand, it would be terribly rude of me to lie to a person who has opened their home to me, even momentarily. Especially given what Jacob would do to these men if he knew. On the other, if I trust this man and tell him everything... Things could take a turn for the worst. He might change his mind about turning me in once he knows how much danger me being here has put his family in.

I am just about to open my mouth, response on the tip of my tongue, when the sound of footsteps echoes through the hall once more. It's like one of those slow motion horror scenes, complete with stomach wrenching dread, as he enters the room.

Black hair and a devil may care attitude define this man. Even in his police uniform he looks threatening. Or perhaps it is because of the police uniform that causes me to be wary of him. This brother I remember, Yoongi, the cop from the diner.

"What's going on here?" The new arrival asks irritably.

A/N: Sorry guys, I know that Hobi is older than Tae, but I decided to take some artistic license. The ages of the boys are different here. I'm reimagining Hobi into the maknae line and Tae into the hyung line.
