Chapter one

Doctor Ogar's POV

**

Recap..... Katherine had ran away from home when her father had given her until nightfall to rid her of her pregnancy... Let see how far she had gone!

It's been three months since my daughter ran away from home and nothing has been the same.

I've searched everywhere but it seemed, she has vanished into thin air with no traces of her existence alongside that kid that got her pregnant.

I thought she knew better than to fall for that boy who has brought her nothing but shame and disgrace and despite all that, she still choose to run away with him.

Heck!

If only I had left her behind when she wanted to stay back in London; none of this would have happened. I failed as a husband in my attempt to save my wife and now as a father. Everyone thinks am a monster! Even my co-workers thinks I chased her away from home.

I admit I made a mistake by threatening to abort her child but what the heck was I supposed to do as her father. Applaud her? Hell no! And with the amount of anger I was feeling the moment I found out the whole Goddamn truth was enough to send me over the edge.

To think that I trusted her to always tell me the truth only to have her lie straight to my face about every single damn thing.

She made me looked like a fucking lunatic in the sight of my own friend and his family.

To think that his son was part of it all makes me feel even less of a father.

And as if that's not even enough; Aunt Nene has been threatening to move out of the house ever since she left home.

I can't even ask her to stay! Even my own daughter had chosen a life of misery over what she had and right at this moment, she is at it again. Bags in hands and ready to leave.

She stopped in her tracks when she saw me by the entrance.

"May I have a word with you before you... You leave?"

She gave a weak nod before she dropped her bags on the floor and followed me from behind as I walked towards the living room.

"Please have a seat" gesturing towards the opposite cushion but she made no attempt to oblige me even as she stood with her arms crossing her chest.

"You still think am a monster don't you?" Turning to her with a raised brow.

"I never said that sir" her voice was a far cry as she continued to act cold towards me.

"You don't have to say it you know? Even a child can see the disgust in your eyes when you look at me cos ever since she ran away from home; you haven't been the same"

"The look in my eyes are only that of worries and fears for her safety and besides, my stay in this house is of no use to you now so it's better I leave"

She turned to walk away again but stopped at the sound of my voice.

"Please wait!.... I...I don't want you to leave. At least not like this please" my voice a little shaky.

I could see the refusal in her eyes even before she spat it out. Her mind has already been made up this time and I doubt if I can convince her other wise.

"Thank you for giving me a job and a home when I needed one but I can't stay here anymore especially not when your daughter is out there roaming the street of Lagos...I can't even sleep at night with fear of what or where she could be sleeping herself" her voice breaking into a silent sob and causing a rip to tear through my own heart.

She hurried back towards her bag and picked them up before heading towards the exit.

"I didn't chase her away. She left because she wanted to" I called back at her and making sure to halt her next hasty step.

"She left because you chase her away sir and you don't have to justify your action to me because you already did your path and now? I will do mine and am not going to rest until I find her"

.

.

.

Her word hit me like a bullet across the chest as she strode out of the house with her bags in both hands without even sparing me a single glance.

She was really going....

I have no right to ask her to stay here with me. She only agreed to staying all these while because of my daughter in the first place and now she is leaving because of her.

I coughed and swallowed back a tear that threaten to spill.

Why should I even cry? Its not like my daughter ran away from home and the only companion I have in this house has just walked right out of the door.

I felt anger, pain and anguish burning through every fiber of my being With absolutely nothing else to do then to face the reality of my loneliness.

All the course I have fought for over the years all went down the drain.

My daughter is out there with no where to go and am here relieving my worst fear.

Being alone has been the only thing I have dreaded the most in my life and also the only thing I had while growing up as an orphan in the village.

An empty pocket and an empty stomach has taught me the greatest lessons in life. To work hard and to be where I am today and even though I have achieved so much; am still left empty handed. Loosing the two most important persons in my life.

My wife and now my child!

I've lost it all....

But not for long because even if I have to search every corner of the street, I will find her and bring her home.

I'm coming kitty....

Your father is sorry for everything but first you must let me find you.
