Chapter seven

Lavi's POV

**

I woke up to an empty bed the next morning. Katherine was gone and no longer sleeping soundly by my side as I had expected. Waking up to her on my bed every single day is the best part of my reality but all of a sudden; the day I decided to sleep a bit more, she was gone?

What the hell?

This has never happened before. She has always been the last to wake up each morning so where is she?

Shit!

"Katherine?" I called out to her as I struggled to my feet hoping she was somewhere around the corner or maybe outside in the front yard but got no answer.

Where is she?

I hurried outside in search of her and met our neighbor's son playing outside with his paper plane.

"Pelumi, have you seen my girlfriend?"

"No! I didn't see anyone. I was just playing over here" he shook his head at me.

Why would he see anyone when he is so busy piloting himself around.

Shsssssesh...

I called out to her some more but got no answer still. It's just 7:30am in the morning, where could she have gone and without even telling me and worst! In her condition.

Please let it not be what am thinking!

"Ekaro ma, am looking for my girlfriend. Have you seen her?" I asked Pelumi's mom who had emerged from the house.

I sounded more desperate than a man whose house was on fire and in need of a fire service.

"Ekaro my dear, I saw her with a bucket heading towards the tap a while ago. Am sure she has gone to fetch water"

What?

The tap? All by herself?

That's like a couple of distance from here!

Damn!

"Thank you ma" hurrying away in the direction she had left.

I have to stop her before Aunt Nene or someone else sees her while she is out there getting water. Everyone around this neighborhood goes there to get water and Aunt Nene is most likely to be there as well.

Shit!

I ran all the way to the tap and there she was,waiting in line for her turn to fetch water.

Christ!

"What are you doing princess?" Turning her to face me and startling her in the process as well.

"Gezz...you scared me!" Smacking me across the shoulder

"Why are you out here huh?" I questioned her again.

"I came to get water Lav! Isn't it obvious?"

"Why didn't you wake me up. I would have gotten water myself. It's my job to get water not yours" my voice a bit high. I'm obviously annoyed and somewhat paranoid as well.

"It's not your job to do everything Lavi! I can get water as well so stop making everything your job"

"I'm not complaining am I?"

"You don't have to complain for me to help you. I'm pregnant not sick or destitute" she countered back stomping her foot on the ground like a child.

Everyone was staring at us and I figured they is no point arguing with her any longer. I just have to get her out of here and fast.

"C'mon let go" scooping her into my arms bridal style as I began to stalk away.

"What are you doing? Put me down right now" she half yelled

"Nope! I won't so hold still. We are going home" walking even faster.

"But we need water and you just left our bucket behind" she protested again

"I'll come back for it. Now let get you home shall we?"

I really love it when she loose against me and right now is one of those times as she had her arms wrapped around my neck.

Her hair was a messy bun in the middle of her head but she was beautiful still. Pregnancy had her glowing like a goddess.

My goddess.

"Will you let me walk at least?" Pouting at me.

"Nope! We are almost there" I assured her with a lopsided smile.

All the stare and glare from all the passersby we met on the way didn't bother me at all. Instead, it made me feel like a privileged man holding his most prized possession.

She turned at me the moment her feet touched the floor of our room.

"You're such a show off you know that?" She hissed at me.

"Tell me about it princess" taunting her with a cheeky smile.

"Now wait here let me go get our bucket of water before we are forced to buy another" turning to leave.

"Go ahead then. Go get it! Isn't that what you want? To do everything while I do nothing?" She had her arms crossing her chest with a frown on her face.

She looks like a typical pregnant housewife at the moment.

"Of course you will do something my lady...." Turning to face her again with a sweet little convincing smile

".....You can start by warming the food for breakfast after which You will brush, bath and then eat. That's a long list of chores don't you think? So you better get a head start before I come back or I will be forced to do some of it for you" my face breaking into a full blown smile as I stood staring at a fuming Katherine...

Somebody please call the fire service!

"You're so...."

"....sweet?" I completed her sentence for her.

"No! Far from it; you're totally and completely an....."

"....amazing! I know princess, you don't have to tell me. I really do" I finished for her yet again causing her to throw the nearest piece of clothes at me.

I ducked and rush outside and called back at her.

"I love you princess"

I couldn't see her but I bet her face has broken into two by now with a huge smile sprayed across it.

Dear God...I love that girl!

Katherine pov

I allowed my mind to wonder around a bit as I lay cuddled up with Lavi. He was sound asleep with his arms wrapped around me making sure to trap me in between his chest that was rising and falling.

I never imagined my life to be this way; living in a single room and sharing a bathroom with the whole neighbors. Not to mention having barely enough to eat but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was lying in the arms of the love of my life and the father of my unborn baby. The same one who gave up everything for me. Working tirelessly every single day under the sun just to make sure we have something to eat.

Gosh...

It hurt to know that my dad who got married to my mom out of love couldn't understand my love for Lavi.

I already made it clear to him when I ran away from home that i would rather have a slice of bread with Lavi than all the luxury in the world without him.

He mumbled out loud in his sleep and pulled me closer into his chest.

Lavi is scared that I might leave him and go back home. If only he knew that such thought haven't even crossed my mind since we ran away.

I'm even more afraid that he might get tired of me and leave.

Hell...

"I'll never leave you Lav, Not ever!" I assured him with a peck to his lips that was slightly open.

Hey guys... How are you all doing? Hope good! Anyways,little announcement: they won't be a regular updates from next week thanks to the school strike been called off and the resumption of academic activities...

So in that note, a new schedule has been made so updates will be from Fridays now and if am late then Saturday latest.
