Chapter nine

Katherine POV

**

"Hurry up or we will be late" Lavi had called out to me from the outside.

I'm not able to reach the zip of my skirt at the moment. I can barely bend not to mention been able to zip it. My belly has grown even bigger in this one month that has gone by.

Lavi has bought this same pair a month ago and now, it's not even my size anymore.

Hell...

"You might wanna come help me out with this" I called back at him as I gave up trying to reach it on my own.

"What happened? Are you okay princess?" Lavi had rushed in and knelt before me on the bed.

"I can't seem to reach my zip..can you help?"

I got up on my feet as he tried to zip it  a few times but couldn't.

"I can't zip it myself and I don't want to force it either. You have grown bigger eh" he said with a thoughtful look on his face.

"This is the only ones I have that is close to fitting. What do I do now"

He walked over to his shoe by the corner and pulled out his shoe lace and strode over to where I stood sulking like a child.

"Don't worry my lady...I will fix this for you okay?"

I replied with a nod.

Pulling the cotton blouse over my belly. He began to lace the rope through the belt holder of my skirt and tied it into a knot in front.

"That will keep your skirt from falling off and you don't have to worry about taking it off anymore" he assured me with a smile on his face.

Adjusting the skirt properly around my waist. I realized it was much more comfortable than when I would wear it with the zip up.

Gosh.. .

"You're a genius my darling" with a quick peck to his cheek.

"I know princess. Now c'mon let hurry before you are late for your appointment"

Lavi has been accompanying me to the health center for my antenatal check ups. He makes sure I keep to all of them since the doctor usually comes around once in a while.

Putting on my shoes that barely fit my legs that has become all swollen for the pass month now. I hurried after him.

I bet the pregnancy is to blame for what my feet is facing at the moment.

I hurried after him as we head out that morning. It was barely 9am and the weather was still at its best all thanks to the sun who hasn't risen from its slumber yet.

The health center was just two street from ours but Lavi had insisted on boarding the bus to save up for the time we had wasted already and I couldn't argue.

Getting to the hospital in time to see the doctor is my top priority at the moment.

The awaiting room was filled with pregnant women waiting to see the doctor and I had to join the list of course cos I was there for the same reason as well.

Sometimes I wonder why he is the only one posted to this region when the people around here are the ones that needs them the most.

Traveling all the way to the city for check up can take a lot of time to get there.

I can feel that my time is drawing near with each month that goes by. My water can break anytime from now and my child will be born into this world without the blessing of his grandparents but that's the lease of my problems now. Meeting the doctor and making sure my baby is in a healthy condition to be born is all that matter.

I turned to look at Lavi and realized that he too was watching me.

"Are you okay?" I gave a small nod and a smile.

"Do you want me to go in there with you to see the doctor?"

"I would love that very much"

"Okay" squeezing my hands gently.

It's not surprising to know that am the youngest among the long list of expectant mothers but also the only one whose partner was holding her hands at this point.

I'm pregnant and lucky to have the father of my baby with me every step of the way.

"Miss katherine?" The nurse had called out to me.

"I'm here"

"You can go in and see the doctor now"

"Okay... Thanks" nodding at her.

"Shall we?" Turning to Lavi.

"Okay" still holding my hand as we rose to our feet.

I thought I saw someone that looked like aunt Nene on our way back from the hospital but I can't say for sure cos we were inside the bus and I couldn't see her face properly.

I don't know if I should tell Lavi about it but I don't want to worry him over nothing.

Maybe I was wrong!

"You have been awfully quiet since we got back from the hospital. Are you okay?" Lavi had asked me pulling me out of my train of thought.

"I'm fine..was just lost in thought" I assured him with a smile.

He took my hand in his as he continued to stare at me with a mischievous grin on his face.

"Why are you smirking at me?" My brow rose at him.

"Nothing out of the ordinary..just going over what the doctor had said earlier in my head" he shrugged.

"The doctor had said a lot of things to us Lavi. Which one are you molding over in your head?"

I know exactly what he could be thinking in his head cos I can see it in his eyes.

They were dilated already.

"Well! The doctor did mention that since your due date is almost approaching. Maybe we should get a little more intimate you know?"

"You kiss and hug me all the time if I remember correctly. Doesn't that count as being intimate?"

"Well that's not exactly what he meant you know? He was referring to us m-making love"

Aaah I just knew it.

"I know exactly what the doctor was referring to mister. I just wanted you to say it" laughing whole heartily at him.

"You do? Well can we start now?" Tugging at the hem of my blouse.

"Get a grip on yourself will you?" Smacking him across the shoulder.

"Ouch! You just broke a bone" wincing in pain as he lay beside me on the bed.

"Scoot over lemme take a look"

He leaned over and lay back on my laps as I began to massage gently on his shoulder.

"Feeling better?" I asked him and trying so hard not to laugh at the same time.

This is a game for him no doubt!

"No...I think it's getting worse. Do you think maybe it need a little bit of sweetness perhaps?" Pouting at me with those puppy eyes of his.

I placed a little kiss on his shoulder over and over again.

"Any better?"

"I'm not sure..I think it might need more of those sweet kisses cos its hurting all over now"

"You're such a cunning guy now ain't you?" Shaking my head at him.

"I get this cunning only when You're playing so hard to get"

I tried to hit him again but gasp for air the moment I felt my baby kick from within.

"Are you okay? Is it time?" I nodded my head extra slowly at him with wide eyes.

"Say what? But...but...I thought you still have weeks to go" he asked me in panic.

It didn't take long before I burst out in laughter. I couldn't keep it in any more. He looks like he is about to die from panic attack.

"Wait! Why are you laughing right now? Ain't you supposed to be in pain?"

"Me in pain? I had you convinced didn't I?"

"No... I mean no...I was sure you were just faking it" he shrugged

"OMG! With that kind of face you were making a while ago? I bet you were already scared out of your mind"

"No I wasn't scared!"

I continued to laugh at him until I couldn't breathe anymore.

He looked so scared out of his mind! Gosh I wonder how he's going to react when am finally due.
