Chapter 1

Everyone in the world had a necklace. Two people have the exact same. Our world is like a game; a game to find your soulmate or it's game over. My name is Rose. I have dark brown hair that falls to my waist. I am 23, meaning I have at least 2 years to find the one. Generally people find the "one" at 18 years old. I think this system is bullshit, but the government does what it does. You must wear your necklace at all times. People commonly get mistaken and think they found the one because their necklaces are similar, though the system can't be fooled. I live in North America. Canada, to be precise. My necklace is shaped like a circle. There is a crescent moon in the center, the moon is silver and has small designs on behind it. I found many that had similar ones, but none exactly the same. I live alone and have a job. I work at this small company called Kinas, this company makes apps in hopes that it would be successful. The apps don't usually get lots of downloads, so we always have to come up with new ideas.

This is the year. It has to. This year, I am devoted to finding him. I have to. I quit my job for this. My parents owned a international company, but never gave me cash. They wanted me to earn it. I finally got them to give me some money (plus my own savings) and I was out and on my mission. Every country has a convention that helps you locate your soulmate. These convention costed $5,000 for one pass for two hours. I made sure I had enough money for hotels, conventions, food, plane tickets, etc. My first stop was America. America held their convention in New York City. I wasn't about to get on a train for 15 hours, so I got a plane ticket. My flight takes about a hour and half. I got this.

I went to the airport around 10ish, so I would land at 11-12. It was dark out, as it was night. When I arrived, I checked if I had everything. "Passport, check. Suitcase, check. Wallet and purse, check." I mumbled. After checking the rest, I went in the airport. I am a well prepared person, I cannot leave one area if I don't have all my stuff. I quickly walked in, knowing I was a bit late. "Last call for flight to New York, New York, last call," a voice said above. Shit. Though I'm organized, I'm late to many occasions. I ran to the gate and quickly checked through. Thank god.

I sat in a seat, then a family walked pass. How beautiful. Just think, that might be me one day. A man sat beside me, he was quite a hefty man. I sat at a window, but he sat right next to me even though there were open seats down the row. I looked at his necklace, it was a diamond shaped. It had small gold circles on the inside. He took up some space, but i didn't want to be rude. "New York convention?" He asked. "Yeah.." I replied. "Your necklace has a cool design," He remarked. "Thanks," I said, smiling. "Oh, I'm Mark by the way," Mark said. "Rose, nice to meet you," I said. I knew he was just trying to make conversation, but I was honestly exhausted. "I'm really tired," I added. "Oh, okay," He said quietly. I put make eye mask on and fell asleep.

"Rose!" Mark said, he shook my shoulder. "Are we here?" I asked, rubbing my eyes. "Yeah, leading," He said. We got off the plane. We said our goodbyes and hoped we see each other at the convention. I realized after he left I didn't know what day he was going. Mine is in two days. The convention stretched out to a weeks time. Oh well. The system wants you to find your soulmate, to see if your capable of any task. After you find the one, you can take the necklace off. You can either decide if you and him or her want to get married or not. Usually, people stay with the one. Finding the one is just a task, not if you want to be with them. Originally it was, but later changed over time.

I checked into my hotel room. It was decent, a bedroom and bathroom. All I need, beside food. Tomorrow I will go around the city and look around. I took a camera with me, because I loved taking pictures.

Author's Note
Hey! Thank you sooo much for reading my story. This chapter is kinda boring (it's okay, i know) but it will get more interesting as it goes along. I've written fan fic, but not an actual story (not on this account haha). I'm not Canadian, so if I say something that's supposed to be Canadian, please correct me! Comment and favorite if you want!
