break a sweat

"Please please, anything I'll do if you just let me go-"

The swift kick the taller of the two delivered sent the begging man flying across the alley. He might've been a bit more patient and somber with his pathetic pleading if he hadn't stabbed him just a few moments prior. The blond held his side, the metallic bitterness on his tongue making him scowl. His stomach hurt. A lot. Lesser demons were such terrible creatures.

"Rehabilitation is an option we can allow when you're here." Cass coughed into his elbow, grimacing at the sight of the stain he knew wasn't going to come out. He really liked this sweater. "But what you were doing wasn't good-" His hands pressed together, like in prayer, before gently pulling them apart, the light that suddenly spilled out between them solidifying into something silver, heavy, and sharp. "-My Master would be displeased to watch you spoiling these souls further..."

"Angel, I-I know you have pity in your heart-" He was dressed as a portly man, short and round and sweaty, little hair messily combed over his greasy head. If one had run into him in the day, you wouldn't notice the difference between him and any other portly man, but with

"Pity I have, but not for the damned dragging others along with them." The metal blade clanged against the dirtied concrete as it fell. He took a step forward, hand swooping forward to grasp it, watching him scramble, dark yellow eyes darting for escape, but surely another charge forward would simply earn another kick into the dumpster his body just happened to bent.

"The dark lord will just send me back, I know him! And I swear I'll come back to tear your feathers-" He tried to growl as he moved to scuttle back from the foot the angel pressed hard into his chest. But it was no use, he was pinned to the garbage heap he was lying in.

"....Oh? Would you send my regards to Lucifer? He told me to stop by but I'm no longer sending messages down there in person." Cassiel smiled cheerfully as the demon he stood over had the words die in his throat. Coughing again into his sleeve as blood trickled past his lips, his smile tinted red as he raised his blade.

"Please- Mercy-"

"Maybe in a different life."

"Cassy, are you okay? You look like you tried sushi again." Someone poked at his head as he groaned. His body aching and he sat up to look at the person who stood over him.

"I'm fine, Bea, I just... worked out a little past my limit." He pouted as he rubbed at his side. It took all night for it to heal and was an absolute hassle to make look inconspicuous as he walked home, the stupid demon really had to have a poisoned blade. He would rather have been shot. Which honestly was annoying in its own right.

"Oooh, working on those abs blondie-" She poked him right where the scar had formed just before classes begun, surprised to see him suck in so much air as he winced.

"Y up." He grit. At least making her giggle through his pain.

"Sorry, honestly you should take me with you, we can be gym buddies too." She smiled brightly. The idea of bringing her anywhere he 'worked out' was an image he honestly wasn't too comforted with. He smiled back, trying to think of something to reject the idea politely before he just said yes. "Actually, I think I'm too lazy to night work out like you do, mornings are easier-"

He watched her tap her chin in thought. Laughing a bit at how easy that was. "Well, it's not for everyone."

They spent their break chatting peacefully, every so often someone else stopping by for a moment to say hi before it was suddenly time for their next class. They walked quietly towards the halls, luckily they had the same lecture to attend. While trying to ignore the dull throb in his side he couldn't help but admire the passing students and quiet day they stumbled into. It was exactly what he needed after sending something back to where it came from. He liked the normalcy he could seamlessly slip into after events like these. The life he can lead as he did what he had to do. He liked it so much. To get to serve and to do as he pleased. He wondered how it took him so long to finally get here.

"So do you want to go? I promise please please please it'll be fun-" He snapped out of his thoughts as Bea suddenly began to beg.

"Huh?"

"We're having a break night over at that club downtown. The one Eli won't stop talking about. C'mon I want you to come." She clasped her hands together as she gave him such big puppy dog eyes. Not fair.

He said yes before they even discussed the details further. She babbled the rest of the way there talking about who would go and what time they were gonna get there, and by when they should all be "fucked up". It made him laugh until she mentioned one name. One that made him stop in the middle of the doorway as they stepped into the classroom.

"You invited him?" He felt his happy mood fall and shatter on the ground as she sheepishly looked over her shoulder.

"Bea-

"NO TAKE BACKS AH!" She said it much faster than he anticipated and he wanted to curse at the sky. But that would just make him feel worse instead of better.

"You tricked me." He grumbled as they made their way to their seats. "It's bad enough I have to see him here because you're friends with him."

"I see the good boy is in a happy mood. Must be talking about me hm?" Someone flicked him in the back of his head as he slumped into his seat.

"I'm going to sleep." Cass grumbled as he sent a glare up at the man who stood right between them both. Ugh, it always happened like this. As if they were sent to spoil each others days. Crossing his arms in a little nest. Resting his head to try and see if it'll make him feel better. "You Dom, can go to hell."

He scoffed as he watched him actually doze off on command. Eyes narrowing at how easily he did it. Dominik knew he probably didn't need the lesson for today anyways, but he was clearly prissier than usual.

"What crawled up his ass and died." Dom took his seat just beside Bea. Her hands already working at her notes she devoutly kept up. Glancing up at him she smiled brightly.

"He's just grumpy. Was up late last night breaking a sweat." She purposely failed to mention why it really was. They might just both refuse to show up if she got them at each others throats for the day. Which, while usually fun, would be better saved for later.

Her eyes followed his gaze after a while as he looked over to the sleepy face Cassy put on. Looking peaceful and soft as he gently let out a breath.

She couldn't stop herself from smiling. Already knowing just what to say when he got there and saw him, probably the only way she could stop him from stomping out.

"C'mon, you can play nice together. Besides... I already know how you think." She would gently tilt his head to get a better look at him.

The way his blond hair fell over his blue eyes would make him keep looking. There was always something in their hostility that kept them close. She could see it better than they could. A little push shouldn't hurt. So maybe... Tonight she'd shove.

"He's a lovely boy, isn't he?"
