"Wake up you old sleepyhead.. just because you are 35 now it doesn't mean you get to sleep all day". I hear Nina's warm voice whisper in my ear.

"Are you sure ?" I grab her without opening my eyes and pull her down on top of me. "If you are here I could easily stay in bed all day every day".

She giggles and tickle me, making me open my eyes. I love seeing her beautiful smile as the first thing.

"Happy birthday you silly goose.. the others are waiting with breakfast and presents". She gives me a light kiss.

"So.. I am not getting to old and boring for you ? Being like almost 40". I sit up grinning at her.

She roll her eyes. "Stop it mi amore, I'll be 30 before you get to 40.. might be you exchanging me for a younger model".

"Yikes no". I make a face. "To be honest.. I was a bit.. worried about your age.. I had actually said I didn't want to date someone younger than 30.. but I guess life sometimes throw us a curb ball".

"You .. uhhh". She grabs my face and kiss me softly. "Stop being so damn perfect.. and now get dressed and come have breakfast and presents".

I get up and pull on some cargo pants and a long sleeved tee before stepping into my worn out crocs. "All ready".

"You certainly know how to dress to impress". She giggles softly.

"Hey I am betting that Zac is wearing the same old sweats.. and either him or LZ is topless.. I am dressed up given the company".

She shrugs. "Yeah you are right.. all of you guys are.. horrible when it comes to clothes".

"But you still love me". I wrap my arms around her from behind and manage to walk out the tent like that.

"Yeah.. but that's because I prefer you naked". She giggles but it turn into a half scream as I tickle her.

Running after her as she manage to escape my arms, I catch her just as we reach the back porch.. which look like an eight year old is having a party.. with balloons, streamers and plates with funny dogs on them.

"Happy birthday man". Zac pulls me in for a bear hug. "I know the decor is a bit.. Well it was what they had".

I pick up a pink napkin with a glittery happy 10th b-day on it, grinning. "You know what.. thanks Z.. it's weirdly perfect".

"I voted for the robot ones.. but dum dum insisted on the pink". Pilar gives me a warm hug, which surprises me more than the decor. "Happy birthday".

"Thanks and well if you can have pink and glittery.. why choose anything else ?" I smile at her, before going to hug everyone else.

Nina looks at me smiling. "You were wrong though.. they both have a shirt on".

"I know.. the time of miracles apparently is upon us". I can't help feeling happy.. I have the best friends and the best girl in the world.. what more can I want ?

We all sit down to eat.. Nina is of course sitting next to me, my hand resting on her leg. Sherry is trying to make everyone behave.. or mostly Zac who seem unable to stop teasing Pilar.. apparently he never matured past the pulling the cute girls pigtails.

Matt has shown up, but him and Emilia hardly say a word to one another.. I am a bit worried about my cousin, he doesn't seem himself lately.. and I have caught him looking at Pilar in a way I can't really read.

"Time for presents". Zac say at the same time as he stuff his last bite in his mouth and get up from the chair.

Pilar is shaking her head. "Sorry, he has been waiting impatiently all morning".

I can't help smiling. "No worries I kinda know him by now".

Matt gets up too and disappear with Zac.. I wonder what they got me.. to be honest I haven't really wished for anything.. I feel I have everything I could ask for.

"Here you go.. for my best cousin.. it's from Emilia and Pilar too". Matt hands me a long box.

"Thanks". I take the box and kinda rip off the paper. It's an expensive new fishing rod. "Oh cool.. thanks so much".

I hug all three of them, telling them it's a perfect gift, Marshall just grin from his chair. "I am still going to whoop your ass".

"Hmm who won last time". I rub my shin. "And now I have a superior rod too, not just superior talent".

"We'll see .. we'll see". He laughs.

Zac comes back, carrying something wrapped in a bed sheet. "Sorry but it was impossible to wrap in paper".

"And Z realised that after ruining two rolls of paper". LZ say grinning. "It's from all of us".

"I tried okay ?" Zac say and hands me the gift, I have a feeling what it is and I am right.. it's a new paddle board.. a costume see through one with my name engraved and highlighted with holographic glitter.

I run my hand over it. "Oh wow.. this is awesome.. Thank you so much guys.. I love it".

"I so need to borrow it". LZ say grinning. "Could be so cool like filming through it and into the the water.

"Maybe". I grin at him. "I mean it has my name on it.. not yours".

Zac run his hand over the engraving. "It's awesome right.. the holographic glitter was my idea".

"I kinda knew that Z". I grin at him. "But yeah awesome".

"So.. just my present left". Nina say softly.

Zac is instantly on his way out. "I'll go get it.. you can.. prepare him.. uhh you are gonna love.. this Nick".

"Oh you didn't have to get me anything love.. you are more than enough". I tell her softly.

"I'll take ..it if doesn't want.. it". LZ say grinning.

I roll my eyes but ignore him. Nina takes my hand. "Now close your eye and keep them closed till I say so".

"Okay". I close my eyes and hear footsteps coming, it can only be Zac coming back. "I am kinda curious".

"Hey no licking me.. here Nina". Zac say chuckling.

I clear my throat. "That first line better not be for my girl Z".

"No worries me amore". Nina say softly. "You can look now".

Before I have a chance to open my eyes a wet tongue leaves wet kisses all over my face. I open my eyes looking at the most adorable puppy ever. "A dog ?! For me ? You got me a puppy".

"Yeah.. he is a heeler, german shepherd mix.. about 10 weeks old". Nina say, looking at me a bit nervous.

I gently take him i to my arms, half his face is black, the other half is mostly white and tan. "Hi there boy.. ain't you the most adorable thing ever.. hi".

"Are you crying Nick ? Z I think Nick is crying.. and I got it on video". LZ say, but I ignore him.

"Do you like him ? I really hope it was okay to get him.. I mean you said you wanted a dog and Zac said that..". Nina sounds all nervous.

I hug the little dog closer to me. "I absolutely love him.. it's hands down the best present I have ever gotten.. thanks my love".

"You are welcome mon amore". She reach out to scratch the puppy behind the ear. "And he hasn't got a name by the way".

"Spot". Zac says with certainty. "You should call him spot.. or two-face".

I shake my head and look at my dog. "Hmm he looks like a Bailey to me".

I get a big lick on the nose in response, so I assume he likes it.
