I tried my best to get what happened between me and my boss out of my head but it kept popping up like a bad idea. Sam had noticed my unrest and decided to confront me about it.

'Are you okay?' she asked.

I looked at her and said yes. The last thing I needed was to tell Sam that her best friend had done the unthinkable with her boss. She touched my forehead.

'You're burning up,' she said.

I touched my head and neck...it was burning up and I didn't even know. I was too busy worrying about what happened in Nigeria than my health.

I told Sam to cover for me while I go home to rest. She agreed, curious as to why I didn't tell him myself but let it go cause I was not okay.

I got home and called Eric. He picked and I told him to come home...which surprisingly he agreed. When he got home, I was lying down...not able to sleep. He walked into the room and sat beside me. When he kissed my forehead, he withdrew back and looked at me.

'You're burning up. What's wrong?'

I didn't know...I did ache all over and my throat was sore. He quickly reached for my face towel, soaked it in cold water and placed it on my head. I shivered and relaxed. I was rarely sick cause I'm AA but when it came, it came heavy.

Eric stayed through the day into the night...and decided he'll sleep over just to take care of me...guilt came up again and tears slipped from my eyes onto the pillow never again will I hurt you...I'm so sorry I said in my mind. He looked at me and cleaned the tears.

'It's okay bunny,' he called my pet name. It wasn't okay...he didn't understand; his worst fear was playing out under his nose. He laid beside me, cuddling me even in the heat of the moment😂😂😂.

The next morning, Eric was up, ready to go to work while preparing breakfast, and I laid without moving or opening my eyes. His phone rang and he answered.

'I can't talk right now. My girlfriend is sick and I'm taking care of her,' I heard him say. I swallowed hard on my saliva, trying to not assume anything.

'I will come around later.' He replied. 'You know I do too,' followed and he ended the call. He came close and tapped me.

'Let's get you cleaned up,' he said. I mustered up strength and got up, had my bath, ate breakfast and laid back. Eric cleaned the house and promised to come back. I nodded and said a thank you. He smiled and walked out. I needed to rest. I checked my phone and there was no call from Sam or my boss.

Hours later

I heard footsteps in the room. I turned and it was Sam. She walked in, sat on the bed and touched my head.

'You're still burning up,' she said, 'have you eaten?' I nodded. She shifted her head from my view of the door and I saw my boss walk in. I sat up immediately why didn't Sam tell me he came...

Sam got up and sat on my reading chair while my boss sat on the edge of the bed. His eyes looked so sad. I didn't want to understand why.

'How are you feeling?' he asked.

'I ache all over and my head hurts,' I responded. He touched my head.

'You need to get to the hospital. I don't like the way you are right now.' I smiled. Sam got up.

'Let me get something outside. I'll be back.'

Now face to face with my boss, the incident in Nigeria popped up in my head like an app suggestion. I spoke first cause I saw his uneasiness.

'I'm sorry for what happened between us in Nigeria. I should have known my place and that was very inappropriate.'

'What happened?'

Both of us turned and I saw Eric and Sam by the door; Eric holding a paper bag of edibles...wrong timing my mind whispered.
