C H A P T E R 5 5

The most important priority is getting the hell out of here with Muriel. That exchange was bloody brutal and I can still wager the bastard is going on about it downstairs with our families.

Once I get Murry into my car and calmed down we can discuss everything that was said and make sure she is alright.

That whore comment nearly had me fucking seeing red. It took every ounce not to reopen the recently healed gash on my knuckles and pummel Henry for that.

Then me confessing my love for her...Fucking shit. I did not mean to say it, it simply popped out because he had to know I didn't prey on Muriel or some shit. For some unknown reason, Henry believes me to be a damn sewer rat.

I had to beat him to the punch before he manipulated everyone down there, including Muriel. However, though, she held her own rather well against him. I hardly was even needed.

Some of what she said to him was mad. Fucking bad ass.

I'm forcing down my pleased smile because this poor girl is humiliated.

A sniffle comes from her and she expels a shaky breath then throws another bundle of clothes into her suitcase then zips it up.

"You good?" I ask her grabbing her suitcase from her and she rubs her face and swipes her glasses from the side table and sticks them on top of her head.

"Yes."

I lead the way, ignoring the arguments still in full swing, mostly by Henry only. When we begin down the first-floor staircase Henry's heated glare finds Muriel's suitcase in my hands.

"Muriel, you need to stop running from everything in your life. Your mother and I did not raise you like this. This is not acceptable."

"Henry, just drop it." Jolene urges, the group has moved closer down the hall, while Henry begins to follow Muriel from below, still badgering her.

"Muriel, don't be a fool." Henry spits out a pompous laugh,  "He doesn't love you, Sweetheart. You know this, you're an intelligent girl."

I inhale a deep breath through my nose and don't falter in reaching the open front door.

"Henry!" Jolene surprises everyone with her loud yell, I've not once ever heard her yell before.

Henry twists around to speak to his wife, "Come on, Jo. We all know what this is! He's going to talk her into uncrossing her legs then toss her out for the media to devour, they belong to two different worlds."

"Henry, that's enough! You can take your things and leave my house." Dad interjects loudly.

"Well, guess what, Dad?!" Muriel grips the banister and glares down at him while I press my lips into a line already knowing what she's about to say. "I already uncrossed them. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the goddamn tree!"

From the group there's gasps while Ty bursts into a laugh he can't hold in.

I look from Murry and gage Henry's bright red face and throat, the veins protruding and throbbing like he, himself, is about to self explode.

"Listen to me, Muriel-" He says forcing a calm tone, but I know he is fucking raging inside.

"No! I'm done wasting another second listening to you. You are a liar and a cheater and if I hadn't walked in on you with that slut bent over the table you never would have told mom!"

Mum gasps and grips Jolene while everyone watches in horror. "I'm sorry, Mom. But he asked me not to tell you. He begged me to never tell you. He is the biggest hypocrite I've ever met in my entire life."

I ascend a couple steps and grab her hand she has fixed to the banister and yank on it slightly knowing she's going to regret that comment.

Muriel yanks her hand back and continues her verbal lashing, "What is it that is so bad about Oliver? You've always treated him differently than the rest of us? What has he ever done to you?!"

Again, the house is silent and Henry only glares back at her. "Well? What is it, Dad?"

"He promised me he wouldn't interrupt your future-"

"I was bloody twelve years old! I didn't understand what the Hell was going on!" Now I'm the one whose voice is filling the house.

"What?" Muriel exhales. While Mum curses.

"What is he talking about Henry?" Mum steps from the comforting hold she has on Jolene.

"Mum," I quickly back pedal realizing Mum might actually murder Henry if she knew what was said years ago.

"Oh please, Jane. Everyone knows he's never been good enough for her."

"Out! Out now!" Dad bellows and points to the door. Jolene is in tears while Gemma is close to it.

"You told my son he wasn't good enough for someone at age twelve?" Mum is seething and stalks towards him. "Do you realize for months he would tell us he wasn't good for anything whilst in tears?!"

"Jane, I didn't mean it like that, I simply stated he--."

"You worthless CUNT!"

"Jane, calm down." Dad grabs Mum and I'm down the stairs is a flash being sure this dramatic domino effect doesn't descend into complete hysteria.

"After the shit you pulled in University, Henry?! How dare you speak to my son! How dare you step foot in my house! Get your fucking shit and get out!"

"Jane!" Dad struggles with keeping Mum from actually going full on smack-down mode on Henry.

"C'mon, everyone. Let's take a breather outside." Ty grabs Jolene and Gemma who are now in tears and leads them outside. Maggie is stunned with her jaw to the floor.

"Wait-- listen to me, please!" Henry barks when his family turns for the back door.

I'm helping Dad keep hold of Mum and she shoves past me and screams like a banshee, "OUT! GET OUT!"

Henry surrenders and Mum relaxes, while I turn and watch Murry scurry out of the front door struggling with her luggage. The woman may take off with out me after all this.

"I've got to go with her, are you lot alright?" Even my blood pressure is through the roof, I can't imagine how everyone else is feeling.

"Yes, hon." Mum places a sweaty palm on cheek and nods, "Go on, then. Be sure she's alright."

I nod and place a kiss to Mum's burning cheek then turn on my heel seeing Henry towards the door, suitcase in hand and head and shoulders slumped.

I catch up with him, wanting to be sure I get out the door first, just in case. I don't know what else this bastard will say if he meets with Murry outside.

When I skirt by him he growls, "She will give up her future for you. That's who she is. And you are just like me, a selfish no-good bastard."

"Piss off." I break into a jog and help Murry load her suitcase into the boot then jump into the drivers side as she does the same on her side.

Inside my car she's in tears and wiping at her cheeks quickly.

I reach across the leather center console and wrap her up in my arms the best I can as she lets a hiccuped sob and buries her face into my shirt, "I'm so sorry. That was humiliating." She whimpers.

"Stop that. You don't need to apologize." I sooth her and stroke her hair, meanwhile Henry is curbing it and glaring at me holding his daughter inside the car.

My lips crack into a self satisfied grin and I can't help but hold my hand towards him and give him one giant middle finger. Sure, it's a bit immature, but everyone knows I'm not perfect.

Henry glowers then retrieves his phone, I'm assuming to bell for a ride.

I return my entire focus to Muriel and ask, "So, how far are you planning on running?"

She sniffles and sits back wiping her face again again, "It depends, how far are you willing to go?"

I chuckle and start the ignition, "How do we like Scotland, babe?"

Murry smirks and a wet laugh leaves her swollen lips, "We like Scotland very much."

Oh boy, that was pretty crazy.

Lol, how are we feeling after that disaster?

I think these two need a drama free getaway, yes? Hehe

Anyway, this story is coming to a close soon. Like under 15 chapters.
