Muamba POV
This was one of the nicest week's I have had. It has been one of the easiest transitions ever. The people in this village are just overly welcoming and friendly. Honestly speaking if I were not royalty, I would most likely come live here.
Initially when I had arrived, I was disappointed with the huts. I did not understand why these people had never upgraded their housing. I was under the impression that I had to find accommodation. But they are giving me a roof to sleep under on the first night.
When I saw the interior of the huts, I was mesmerised. They were magical. I swear the exterior is deceiving. Everyone be it male or female was accommodating. I got to learn all about the different huts and their unique history.
The next morning, I woke up to find that the villagers usually ate together. See they made a huge bonfire and set up breakfast there. It was only breakfast they had together. It was so that the villagers could bond and to see if anyone was in need. If so, then someone else could help them. Let me explain, so they were farmers. They traded in their crops and did not work with money! It is pretty mind boggling. But yes, that is how they operate. So, if someone did not have enough harvest to trade and get a good meal that day then at breakfast, they would tell the elders and then those with lots of food would invite them to dinner at their huts.
After breakfast, I was led by a group of young men to the woods. They helped me cut down some wood to build my own hut. Yes, even I was surprised. But the elders had allocated me land to build my hut and even given me some to begin my own farm. The ladies helped me start the farm up.
So, now it was Friday, and I was officially sorted to live on my own. My hut did not have the intricate cravings on the inside like the other huts because I just moved in. But they said that with time, they will slowly do so. It was a shame that I was only staying here for a month.
Right now, I was out with my two new friends, Kalambayi and Japhet. We were simply walking around the village helping where we could. To be honest, this week was the most laboured week I had in my life! But it was also the most fun week too. There was something about helping someone and seeing their grateful face that made everything worth it. It was surprising how quickly I became a part of this community.
I would be lying if I said that I did not think of Kapinga. I knew that she was here somewhere. I just had not crossed paths with her at all. Not even at the breakfasts. I was starting to get worried and I did not know how to voice it. I loved this village, but I came here mainly for her and I was yet to meet her. I was on a time constraint after all. I had three more weeks left in this village and I needed to make her fall in love with me in that time.
"My mom wants to see me really quick," Kalambayi. I was about to ask how his mom contacted him because yes, these people do not have cell phones. But then I saw the bird fly away and figured it out. Till this day I still do not understand how these birds know where we are exactly to deliver the messages. So, we detoured from our route to the market where, I was lowkey hoping to see Kapinga and went to Kalambayi's house.

"Mom," Kalambayi shouted as we got closer to the house. I was on edge which was odd. It was as if my body knew something I did not and was reacting to it. I simply brushed it off and went ahead into the house with Japhet.
"Hey Kalambayi," a female voice said. A voice I so longed to hear. I rushed into the room and it was really her. Kapinga was in front of me in the flesh. I was awe struck all over again. She looked much happier. Her skin was glowing despite her not being in the sun. Then I noticed how she was hugging Kalambayi and within a second my relief and awe switched to pure jealously. She had never hugged me before.
Why was I the only person who she never seemed to like? I was deep in thought still staring at her that I failed to see her staring back at me with those big honey brown eyes I loved. It was only after she cleared her throat and let go of Kalambayi that I stopped staring at her. She then came and stood right in front of me. She pulled out her hand and gave me a big smile and said, "Hi, I am Kapinga. It's nice to meet you...." I did not realise that she was asking for my name because I was too busy gawking at her smile. This was the first time she smiled at me. My heart needed a moment to just grasp that concept. It was only when Kalambayi came and stood next to her and coughed that I was pulled back into reality.
Wait, so she did not recognise me in this disguise at all.
"I'm Kashala Mpata, nice to meet you Kapinga," I replied.
