Kapinga
Thank heavens Kashala did not say anything further. I had no idea what I would do honestly. What was wrong with me? We were now walking down a road, I was certain I had walked before but just wasn't quite sure. After all, most of the roads in this village look very similar. I was very tempted to ask Kashala where he was taking me but I realised that I should rather not. That is because communicating with him would require me to also look at him and I could not for the life of me do so. The mere thought alone was terrifying.
I had kissed a guy. Me, innocent little me kissed a guy. I had never kissed a guy before in my life and my first kiss was initiated by myself! How stupid could I be? Now, I had no idea how kissing is supposed to go but I knew that it happened between two people who liked each other. Kashala had been messing around with me but I do not think we were two people who liked each other like that. Besides, if that kiss is anything to go by, he clearly did not like me. He did not reciprocate the kiss at all.
While doing all my thinking, I decided against my better judgement to look at Kashala. I was dying to know what was going on in his head. But at the same time, I was very scared of the truth as well. What if he did not like me? This was going to be the third guy who shrugged me off. Besides, he already has a girl he liked back home wherever that is. When my eyes landed on him beside me, I was slightly disappointed that he was not looking at me but rather ahead. He was probably going to let me down any minute now I thought to myself.
Afraid of getting rejected by yet another man, I decided that I was rather going to do it myself. That way it was not going to hurt as much. But before I could even speak he said, "We are here,"
I then turned my eyes from the side of Kashala's face to look where his eyes where focused. And that was when the memory came back. We were just here a few days ago. But why would he bring me back here again. "What is this?" I asked unamused. I find it easier to be angry than to be vulnerable after all.
"Well, the last time I checked these four-legged creatures were called horses," Kashala replied coolly and started walking towards them.
"I know that you dumbwit, What I mean is why am I here on a Saturday morning when I could be in bed sleeping?" I asked as I followed him closely behind.
"That is because you walked all the way here with me from your school," Kashala replied. I could not see his face but I could feel the smirk on his face as he spoke. The son-of-a-gun!
So, I jogged and caught up with him until I stood in front of this path and said, "For the last time why on earth did you bring me here. I have already seen the horses?" I then threw my hands in the air for extra dramatic effect.
Kashala then tilted his head to the side and continued to look back at me. All of a sudden, I forget why I was mad as heat started to creep up inside of me. It was in this moment that I realised that we were only a few inches apart of each other. My brain said to move backwards and create some distance as soon as possible and for once I actually listened to it. As soon as I took a step backwards, Kashala kindly did the honour of doing the inverse and taking one forward. For some odd reason this 'kind' gesture of his was actually making me excited. Yes, I said excited. My heart increased its pace of beating and my hands got sweaty while my throat suddenly became dry. All this time, I still had my gaze transfixed on Kashala as he held it back with full force. It was only when I saw a smile starting to stretch on his beautiful face that I began to actually fear. Yes, I went from excited to scared. That was when my body hit a hard object from behind. I was trapped.
Kashala then took another step forward as the smile on his face grew even bigger. At this point, my body decided that it was best to freeze. Yes, Freeze. Because that way maybe just maybe, God would have pity on me and help me disappear into thin in air. As soon as my body came into contact with Kashala I closed my eyes. Wishing and praying that this whole day had been one bad dream. However, when his lips grazed my check, I knew better than to pray.
But then again, God does do miracles every now and then doesn't he. Because in that moment, the hard surface I had knocked into suddenly decided that it could do with an adjustment. At this movement, I suddenly got jerked out of my frozen state and nearly fell backwards. That is of course when strong arms gripped me and pulled me closer. Before I could even gather my sense, Kashala set me straight up again and walked away from me like nothing happened.
"Well, let us get going Kapinga. We only have a few hours left to ride the horses."
