Chapter 4: First day of school

                                Allison's POV:

Today is the first day of school, and I am so excited! I knew I would only have about a week of summer, but it's alright.

I was excited to see everyone today. This was going to be so amazing!

I ate an orange, not speaking to anyone this morning.

I grabbed my Jansport bag and ran out the front door. My new school was called St. Katharine's: It's a Catholic school, and since I'm Catholic, I would be attending.

I saw the bus stop, and the figure of a vaguely familiar boy standing there. I walked up, and the figure became clear.

It was Vincent!

I ran up to his side, and he looked down at me in shock. Then he smiled warmly. "You're going to Saint Kat's?"

"Yeah, it looks like a great school." I replied, and he laughed.

"Wait until you get there. You'll probably really like it."

The bus came, sending a gust of warm, summer air hurtling towards my face.

The black doors opened, and Vincent gestured to the steps. "Ladies first."

I smiled, and laughed a little. "Why thank you."

I went up the stairs, and onto the bus. I saw about a dozen boys who were all eyes on me.

One of them winked at me, and I probably blushed, before sitting down about two seats in front of him.

Vincent sat with me, a blank expression on his face.

He looked back anxiously, and then looked at me desperately. "We need to move up."

I frowned. "How come?"

"We're too close to... them." He said, narrowing his green eyes at a group of kids behind us.

"Uhh... Okay." I answered, and we moved up about three seats.

A boy came onto the bus, and he was gorgeous.

He was about 6'2, and had golden brown hair. He had gorgeous blue eyes, and perfect skin. He looked pretty well built, and he frowned when he caught Vincent's eyes.

Vincent inhaled sharply, and just stared at the boy.

I looked at Vincent, and he looked downright pissed.

The boy looked at me and stopped, as if he was paralyzed.

"Dude!" One of the kids from the back yelled, and the boy quickly snapped out of it, and speed walked to the back.

Vincent let out his breath, and slumped down in his seat.

"Vincent, what happened?" I asked, concerned.

"That was nothing." He answered, out of breath.

"Vincent.  Who was that boy?" I asked him, and he bit his lip, looking away from me.

A boy threw his bag into the seat next to us, and answered, "Sawyer Montana. The most popular boy in eleventh grade."

I looked back, and Sawyer had his eyes locked on me, as he looked me up and down.  Sawyer was really hot, and I kind of wanted to talk to him.

"Allison!" Vincent shouted, and I turned to face him, blushing.

"I-I was just seeing if he was back there." I replied nervously, and the boy next to us smirked.

"So you're Allison." He laughed, and Vincent tensed up.

He blushed, and gave the boy next to us the death stare.

"Aha. Right. I'm Nathan Notoya, and I'm Vincent's best friend. Lay off, lady." He stared at me then winked, and I probably blushed again.

"Aww, she's shy, that's cute." He said, leaning closer to me.

"I think that's enough." Vincent growled, grabbing my arms gently and pulling me closer to him.

I looked up at him, and he looked down at me.

He probably didn't realize how close he was to me, and he blushed.

"Oh my God Vincent, you're so awkward." Nate called from the other seat.

I moved away a little, to break the weirdness. It was almost... I don't know... Romantic?

The bus came to a halt, and we both hit the seat face first.

Nate stared laughing so hard, he could hardly grab his bag.

Vincent and I recovered quickly, grabbing our bags and rushing off the bus.

Nate followed behind us, straightening his crooked Nike shirt.

"Now, St. Kat's is big, so don't freak out." He said as we walked in, looking at all the confused freshman and busy sophomores.

"Ah, freshman. They are hysterical." A voice from behind us stated, and we all turned around.

It was Sawyer Montana, unaccompanied by his clique.

"I haven't seen you around before." Sawyer walked closer to me and smirked, looking down at me.

I am 5'8, so I don't get why they always do that.

"I'm new." I replied, and his eyes lit up.

"Where are you from?" He asked, now looking amused.

"Dallas." I replied, and his jaw nearly dropped. Then he recovered, and a sly look crossed his face.

"Well no wonder. You're smoking hot." He smirked smugly, and then laughed.

I blushed furiously, and he seemed amused by that.

"What's a pretty southern girl like you doing so far north?" Sawyer asked with that gorgeous voice of his.

"I uh..." I suddenly lost my ability to speak, and Vincent grabbed my arm.

"Never mind him. We need to go." He grumbled, and Sawyer frowned.

"I'll see you around..." I mumbled, as Vincent practically dragged me away.

Nate grabbed Vincent, and he let go of me. Nate dragged him into the boys bathroom, and shut the door behind them.

I pressed my ear against the cold, metal door and listened closely.

"I'm not letting Sawyer do this to me!" Vincent cried, and I heard Nate's sigh from near me.

"Dude. He hasn't flirted with a girl since like, eighth grade. Let alone had a girlfriend since eighth grade. Let him have some fun for once." I heard Vincent grumble in frustration at Nate's remark.

"Look, it's not like he's going to steal her. Besides, you guys aren't even dating, and you only met her last week." Nate said, and Vincent went quiet.

"You're right. I just need to let go of the past." He finally answered.

"If you like her, just tell her. Because if you don't, I will." Nate threatened, and I heard footsteps come closer to the door. I panicked and backed up as far as possible, and pulled out my phone as if nothing ever happened.

They both walked out, and I looked at them with a questionable look. "What was that?"

"Nothing. Boy stuff." Nate replied, and Vincent laughed a little.

"Let's go. The gym is starting to fill up a lot." Vincent walked down the hallway, and led us into a huge gymnasium.

It was the typical high school gym. But just really big and really nice.

We walked over to the eleventh grade area, and a lot of the gym was either freshman, or juniors (us).

When we got over there, I spotted Sawyer in the large crowd.

He waved at me, a small smile on his face. He then turned to one of his friends, pointing to me, and the boy winked at me, causing me to blush and make an odd face at him.

I am still confused on why Vincent doesn't like Sawyer. He's such a sweet boy, and I really like him.

I forgot to mention this, but right now I'm trying to avoid dating boys. All they ever do is break my heart and leave me there like nothing ever happened.

Either that, or they don't end up liking me, and I'm the one who has to chase them.

I can't say I'll be terribly successful, though... there's a lot of cute boys here.

Vincent shook my shoulder. "Hey, wake up. They are calling the classes."

I immediately came back to life, and Vincent's pretty green eyes were trying to read mine.

I blushed, and looked at the teacher who was standing in the middle of the gym.

"Okay.... So now that we are done with ninth and tenth grade, we will do eleventh... " He trailed off, staring at his list.

"11-01." He called, and then began to read the list. "Vincent Calligan, Sawyer Montana, Nathan Notoya, Sasha Camden, Cadence Fisher, Callie Ivan, Thalia Pike, Alexander Shawn, Riley King, Allison Sage, May Trenton, Skylar Jackson, and Wyatt Thompson." Vincent high-fived me violently when he heard my name called, and Nate did the same.

"Oww..." I muttered, staring at my blotchy red hands.

Nate laughed, and Vincent blushed a little. "I'm sorry... I-I didn't realize I hit you that hard..." Nate laughed even harder, and Vincent now looked mildly confused.

"Bruh..." Nate said between laughs.

I looked away, a little weirded out by Nate. I ignored the teacher as he called all the other classes, but all my friends are in my class, so whatever.

We all got told our first hours, and mine was Science. Lucky for me, I love Science. But it didn't seem like Nate did, for he was sighing as soon as we got upstairs.

Vincent looked over to him, a slightly irritated look on his face. "Nate, it's just chemistry."

"Easy for you to say. You get straight A's! All I can get an A in is music and gym..." He grumbled, looking off into space.

My heart did a backflip when he said music.

"Wait hold on. You're in music?" I asked, an astonished look on my face.

He looked down at me and replied, "Yeah. I play guitar. I sing, too." He answered, and I swear, my jaw dropped.

"I play guitar, too!" I almost exclaimed.

"Really? We should play together sometime!" He had a handsome smile on his face, and I suddenly became confused.

Hold on, so I might be interested in three boys now?
