(Reader's P.O.V.)

I've been avoiding the pings on my phone to solely focus my attention on Sonic. My heart is dancing and for some reason, his stories aren't annoying me like they used to. Is this because of love? "(Y/N)? You all good? Your phone keeps going off." "Everything's fine. Those are just my latest inventions pinging me when there's a change in their status." "But it's happened at least ten times in the past twenty seconds." He's been counting them? "Maybe a quick look wouldn't hurt... Do you want to see it too?" He scoots closer to me in a silent yes as we both look at my phone. What I see makes me drop my phone. All of my copycat series pinged me to say they were in critical condition. Before I got a notification telling me the device lost contact with the bot. There's only one person who would do a thing like that. My old nemesis. The one who's made me move locations more times than I can count on my fingers. "Shadow..." "Long time no see, Miss (L/N). Are you going to surrender and hand over the blue idiot or are you going to run away like last time?" Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Sonic stands in front of me to block Shadow from getting me. "Shadow? What are you doing here? You know (Y/N)?" I sigh and stand up. I touch Sonic's shoulder and pull him behind me. "Long time no see, my arch nemesis. How have you been? Still having memory trouble? Perhaps you need a reboot!" I call my bots to attack Shadow while I plan my escape. I can't just escape and leave Sonic behind, we're still on a date. Suddenly my legs are swooped up underneath me and Sonic runs away with me at super speed. "What the heck did you do to ruffle up Shadow like this?" "Remember when you told me Shadow left for several months for a mission? He was trying to track me down. He found me in multiple different cities across the country and each time I had to move away. This is the last place before I decide to move countries. I've been running from G.U.N. since I was seven and when Shadow started pursuit of me, the times between running away got sooner and sooner. They fed him a lie and he still thinks it's the truth! I never turned anyone into a machine! That was Eggman!" Sonic stops running. I was about to ask when a rogue chaos spear hits us both. "What did you do to Sonic, you monster!" Shadow looms over me, chaos spear in hand, ready to strike me down. "Shadow stop! We're not here to kill her." A woman's voice stops him. Rouge the bat, I remember her too. They fed her the same lie as Shadow. "(Y/N) (L/N), you're hereby under arrest. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." She cuffs my hands. "I never turned anyone into a machine. That mobian came to me asking for help! But I'm only the villain to you. I'm not capable of anything but evil. I'm sorry Sonic, this is goodbye." I smile at him in an attempt to make him feel less worried. The expression on his face makes me sad. I'm sorry, villains aren't allowed to have a happy ending.
