Chapter 4

A/N: I remember posting this part yesterday night but apparently I didn't so... Here it is... Today's chapter is still work in progress, I'll post it later today (and make sure it stays published)...

***

For the first time, Ayesha understood what being famous entails (Even if they weren't so famous yet).

From the moment they stepped out of the car, they've been treated like royalty. Valet parking, security escorts, even the manager has come out to greet them... As they walked towards the restaurant, Arjun slung a protective arm around Ayesha. She eyed the arm questioningly.

"Kya kar rahe ho (What are you doing)?" Ayesha asked.

"Protecting you," Arjun answered innocently.

"Protecting me?" Ayesha asked, confused. "Protecting me from what?"

"Media-walon?" Arjun answered, repeating the words Kabir said to him a few days before Ayesha arrived. "Deranged fans? Anyone who wants to take advantage of your connection with us?"

Ayesha scoffed.

"Puh-lese," Ayesha replied. "Bemaar hai kya (Are you feeling sick)? You guys aren't even that famous yet."

"I don't know," Arjun shrugged. "Bhaiya ne kaha (Brother said so)."

Of course, Ayesha thought. This definitely sounded like one of Kabir's ideas.

Ayesha's first fan - encounter experience came in the form of three school going aged teenaged girls who approached them as they waited for their turn to be seated.

"You guys are from VKAS, right?" One of them asked.

"Yup," Sunny said, a huge charming smile plastered across his face.

They squealed and fangirl-ed amongst themselves.

"Oh my gosh," the girl continued. "Can we take a picture with you?"

"Sure," Sunny replied.

After the girls had taken their pictures and had their "autograph session" with Sunny, Vishal and Arjun, they left.

As they were leaving, Ayesha couldn't help but listen in to bits of their conversations.

"Oh my gosh," one of them squealed. "Sunny is so hot in real life."

"I know right?" Another one of them said. "And he's also so nice."

"Too bad Kabir isn't around," the one who asked for the picture added. "Or the band would be complete."

"Yeah," the others said in unison.

Ayesha's mind wandered back to a time when she was their age and smiled.

"You were saying something about not being famous?" Arjun said, pulling   her back into reality.

"It's just a few kids," she replied.

"Tell that to our sold out shows," Sunny interjected.

"No one asked your opinion," Ayesha rebuffed.

The restaurant manager greeted then and showed them to their seats. As they ordered their food, Sunny spotted Kabir and Tara from the corner of his eyes.

"Oh look," Sunny pointed out. "The golden jodi (couple) has arrived."

Ayesha, whose back was facing the entrance turned around and her eyes met Tara's.

"Ayesha?!" Tara called out, surprised. "Oh my gosh! You're back!"

Tara immediately made her way over to Ayesha and the two of them exchanged a hug.

"Hi Tara," Ayesha replied. "Kaise ho (How are you)?"

"Great," she answered. "When did you come back? And how long will you be here?"

"Slow down, Tara," Ayesha laughed. "I've been back here since last week and I'll only be heading back in about two months."

Kabir appeared behind Tara and tapped her shoulders.

"Tara," Kabir said. "Shall we head to our table?"

"Why didn't you tell me Ayeshu came back?" Tara reprimanded. "You knew how much I missed her, right?"

Kabir rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"I know," Kabir said nervously. "But I forgot to tell you."

Tara smacked Kabir on his biceps.

"How can you forget your own sister?" Tara scolded. "Never mind, in that case, I'm sitting here with Ayesha."

Kabir's mouth hung open in disbelief.

"What about our date?!" Kabir asked.

"Cancel," she replied, nonchalantly. "Aap ka punishment samajhlo (Treat this as your punishment)."

Everyone else burst out in laughter.

"Tara tussi great ho (Tara you're great)!" Sunny said in between laughs.

"Shut up yaar," Kabir warned.

Vishal called the waiter over and added another two seats to the table so that Tara and Kabir can join them.

"So Ayesha," Tara inquired. "What are you up to these days?"

"I'm choreographing for the concert," she replied. "Today's actually my first day so the boys brought me out."

"And Kabir didn't even tell me?" Tara said, shocked and maybe even slightly insulted. Kabir looked everywhere except at Tara as he knew she was giving him a death glare. "Then it's good thing that we ran into you here. We should celebrate this." Tara raised up her glass for a toast. "Listen up everybody! A toast to Ayesha on her first day at work."

Then, Arjun raised his glass, mirroring Tara's actions.

"And Abhay's," Arjun added.

"Here's to working together," Abhay followed suit.

"To VKAS' first tour," Vishal added.

"For unplanned lunches," Kabir said, playing along.

"To Kabir paying for lunch," Sunny joked. "Kabir zindabad (long live)."

Everyone laughed as they clunk their glasses together.

"Kabir zindabad (long live)," the rest replied in unison.

A round of "cheers" were then passed around.

Soon, their food was served and they ate, exchanging small talk between themselves (and in Ayesha and Abhay's case, choreography ideas). Ayesha thought it would be a good time to bring up the lack of dancers to the band's notice.

"So," Tara said, trying to comprehend the situation. "What you're saying is that you don't have enough dancers."

"Yup," Ayesha replied. "Even if Abhay and myself joined in as dancers, we'd only have 8."

Tara nodded.

"That is a bit worrying," Sunny said. "Kabir, we need to talk to Rahul sir about this."

"Rahul sir is aware about this situation," Abhay informed them. "But because it's too last minute, he has problem looking for people. Ayesha did suggest we asked people we knew."

"That's a good idea," Kabir said. "Since we're here, we can ask for Sameer's permission to let Sonia perform. After all, she's majoring in dance."

"Good idea," Sunny concurred.

"Talking about Sameer," Tara said. "Where is he? We haven't seen him since we came in."

"Neither have we," Sunny pointed out.

Kabir called one of the waiter and asked for Sameer.

"Today is Sameer's off day," the waiter replied.

"Oh," the whole table chorused.

"Thank you," Kabir said as he dismissed the waiter.

"Looks like we'll have to see him after today's rehearsals," Ayesha sighed.

They continued their lunch and after that, keeping to his words, Kabir paid for it. Everyone, including Tara, then went back to the studio.

Tara joined Ayesha and Abhay, constantly giving out comments and remarks about how to make the show look better.

After about an hour after lunch, the dancers arrived and were introduced to Ayesha and Abhay. As an ice breaking session, Ayesha decided to put on some music and have a random dance party. In that way, she and Abhay could also figure out their dancing capabilities. She found out that most of the dancers were "veterans", having performed for various artists as well as being background dancers in films, leaving only two who were first timers. However, their dance skills were just as good as the professionals. After 2 hours (and realizing Arjun still had two left feet), everyone, including the VKAS boys, were dismissed.

Now that they have a clearer idea of their dancers abilities, Ayesha and Abhay had decided to stay back to further discuss their choreography. Since Kabir was sceptical about leaving them alone, Sunny and Arjun volunteered to stay back as Kabir had to send Tara home. In the end, Sunny offered to drive the two Desai siblings back home, so that Kabir didn't have to come back to the studio after. Kabir uttered a quick thanks and left.

Arjun sat in the discussion with the two choreographers and looked through some of their ideas. Arjun could only cringe at the level of difficulty while silently regretted not taking dance classes, unlike his two older siblings. He realized he's going to have a lot of catching up to do.

Sunny, on the other hand, didn't bother with them. He was busy checking and replying fan comments on their MySpace page. However, Sunny occasionally peaked up from his laptop to check on them.

After an hour, Abhay and Ayesha decided to call it a day. Sunny, Arjun and Ayesha walked Abhay to his bike before heading to Sunny's car where Arjun called shortgun. Throughout the entire car ride, Arjun and Sunny talked about cricket and soccer, both topics that bored Ayesha to wits end. Instead, she pulled out her phone and texted her best friend, Sonia, about her first day as at work. She even asked if she'd like to join them as a dancer. At first, Sonia was sceptical but after some convincing, Sonia texted Ayesha that she needed to check with her brother before she could join. Ayesha did a little victory dance which resulted in Sunny asking if she was alright and she promptly replied with a "never been better." Sunny just shrugged it off and continued his conversation with Arjun.

Due to the traffic conditions, they arrived at the Desai house later than expected. Arjun, in the need to relieve himself, immediately rushed out of the car the moment it stopped. Sunny,  hearing nothing from behind,  decided to check on Ayesha. He turned around to find her asleep in his backseat.

"Ayesha," he softly called out in an attempt to wake her. He received no response.

"Ayesha," he called again, this time, slightly louder. Still no response.

He unbuckled his seatbelt and made his way to the back of his car.

"Ayesha," he called as he gently tapped on her face.

Ayesha groggily opened her eyes and realized she was home. She turned around to meet Sunny's face.

"Sorry," she muttered.

"It's ok," Sunny grinned.

Ayesha looked around and realized that Arjun wasn't in the car anymore. However, before Ayesha could say anything about it, Sunny beat her.

"He's inside," he informed her.

"Thanks," she replied.

"Seeing how exhausted you are," Sunny said. "You better go in and get some rest. We don't want you falling asleep at your job tomorrow. Kabir already fired someone for it."

Ayesha lets out a soft chuckle at Sunny's revelation. She couldn't deny that she admired how intense Kabir could be when it came to his passion but at the same time, she felt sorry for everyone else.

"Well," Ayesha answered. "We can't let that happen. So, I guess I'll take my leave. Thanks for dropping us home, Sunny."

"You're welcome," Sunny replied.

They got out of the car and Sunny waited till Ayesha got in before he left.

A/N: What do you think of this part???? Anywhere I can improve on (other than my updating, I already know how bad it is)??? Please let me know in the comments.

Also, any Marvel / Thor fans around???
Have you watched Thor: Ragnarok??? I just watched it and I have to say, it's sooo different than all the other Thor movies (in a good way)... I'm so in love with Cate Blanchett right now!!! She's just amazing in the movie and I love how cool her role is... However, the climax (in my opinion), was a little bit too fast. I'd like to see her battle out with Thor a little bit more. And although I was kinda upset that Natalie Portman wasn't in this, when you watch the movie, it makes sense. So, I'm ok with it... 😁😁😁
