As we got to the door I suddenly felt nervous.

'Audrey, are you sure.........' Audrey was in before I could even voice my fears, so I had no choice but to go in before I lost her,

It was dark as the place was dimly lit, the place reeked of alcohol and the teens on the dance floor were too close, it was disgusting to watch and I suddenly felt sick and nauseous.

My eyes scanned the place as my eyes got accustomed to the dark and I could identity clearly each figure, I knew I was searching for him, I gave up after few minutes of searching, I sat at the bar drinking water.

Audrey walked over, I noticed she had an alcohol bottle in her hands.

'There you are, I've been searching for you, there is someone I'd like you to meet' she shouted leaning closer so I could hear her over the loud music.

'No I don't wanna meet anybody' I said adamantly.

'Ava you don't always need to be so uptight, loosen up and have fun, drink' she said handing over the drink.

I shook my head disapprovingly.

'Drinking is not having fun' I said

A guy walked over

'Care for a dance? He asked smiling flirtatiously and showing his sparkling white teeth.

'No thanks' I said remembering the rules mum gave me.

He went away disappointed.

Audrey gave me a disapproving stare

'Ava, don't be so difficult, you're gonna accept to dance with the next guy that asks, understood?'

'No ma' I said chuckling

She opened her mouth to argue when she spotted Justin talking to Adrian l, he was wearing a casual wear, just T-shirt and denim shorts, he looked like he had been dragged here because his expression was bored and his eyes cold.

'He's here, let's go say hi'
She said pulling me up and pushing me towards them before I could protest.

'Hey, babe what's up' she asked Justin cutting short whatever conversation he was having with Adrian, you could hardly call it a conversation though because Justin was doing all the talking and Adrian was quiet uninterested in what ever monologue Justin was having with him.

'Oh, hey' he said and planted a short kiss on her cheeks.

'You might wanna introduce us to someone' she said looking at Adrian.

'Oh, Audrey this is Adrian, my friend and Adrian this is Audrey, my girlfriend and Ava, her best friend' he said

Worst introduction ever

'Hi' Adrian said.

'Hi, nice to meet you, she said satisfactorily.

'Hi' I said awkwardly.

His eyes travelled down my body quickly and I suddenly felt self conscious and I looked elsewhere unfortunately landing my eyes on a couple making out

Eww that's gross

I didn't realise I was staring until Audrey nudged me gently with her legs, jolting me back to reality.

I did not grasp a single thing they said and it was as if it was Audrey and Adrian doing all the talking because Adrian was just staring at them with a bored expression like he'd be any where else but here.

I slipped away quietly after announcing I wanted to use the washroom which was a lie of course.

I walked around although careful of getting lost, I finally got tired of walking after walking round in circles for ten minutes and sat down far from the blaring music.
My phone bleeped signifying a text, so I decided to check it.

Bianca: How's the party going? Sorry if I'm disturbing you I couldn't just wait till you got home.

Me: plain boring

Bianca: why?

Me: I don't know, I just feel out of place like I don't fit in.

I admitted, finally letting my frustration out, Bianca was more than sister to me.

Bianca: Ava, don't tell me you left already

Me:  Not yet, although that's what I'm planning on doing.

Bianca: Don't, now you're gonna go back in there and have fun, make new friends and when you get home you're gonna give me at least three names of the people you make acquaintance with

Me: Bianca, you know I'm not good at making new friends

Bianca: if you don't, I'll drive down there now and shove this sandwich I'm eating now down your throat, drag you in there and walk up to anybody and say "hey my sister is in need of a friend, wanna be her friend?"

I laughed after reading the text knowing how crazy she was she was capable of carrying out her threat

Me:  Okay. I'm going in now

I rolled my eyes

I took in a deep breath
Calm down Ava it's not like its the end of the world anyway.

I had the thought of sitting down there and going home later and tell her the first names that pops in my head, I dismissed the thought knowing Bianca it was only a suicide mission since she would find out the truth sooner or later.

Not like I wanted to dink anyway but I sat at the bar deciding to talk to the next person that walks over instead of course ignoring them like I did before.

When I saw the next person that walked over, all the confidence I had before was swept down the drain in a matter of seconds.

It was the popular Travis Gray, the basketball captain who was famous for his looks and and grades, brown hair and hazel brown eyes with a dimpled smile,
Did I mention he dates and change girls like one changes his shirt.

He'd never been in a steady relationship except with Natalie - the school's queen bee -which lasted for about three months but recently broke up with her because he caught her cheating.

Yeah I knew that much about him, thanks to Audrey

Sorry Bianca, I'll let this one go, I can't possibly talk to this guy!!

But it was like fate had other plans because he walked towards me and sat directly in front of me.

'Hi, enjoying the party?' He asked smiling

Gosh, that smile, wasn't it enough that he was attractive? Why did God give  him looks that could kill and such charming smile. His smile could melt the heart of a stone.

I looked up and my green eyes met with his brown ones.

'Hi, um yeah' I said

Dumb!!

Here is one of the hottest guy in the school tying to start a conversation with you and all you could say is "hi, um yeah?"

'So your idea of partying is sitting here all by yourself drinking water and watching others having fun?' He asked still smiling

That smile, I'm sure if I was standing I'd have fallen by now because my knees became weak.

'You're bored right?' He asked again

Then I realised I did not answer his first question, I mentally face palmed.

'Yes, I would be lying if I said I was, all they do is drink, smoke and dance and since I don't do any of the three I probably think it would be better if I stayed home and I read instead' I said sincerely.

Wow Ava, that's the longest you have said to any stranger

If you keep this up, you might actually get yourself a friend.

Or you mean a boyfriend?
My subconscious Avvy asked

Shut up for Avvy I can't fall for him, he's a player.

But you can't deny the fact that he's hot

I groaned internally.

'So I guess it's your first time being to a party like this' the last words he said were the last thing I heard because I was having an argument in my head with Avvy.

'Yeah, I've never really to a party before, Audrey literally dragged me here, I bet I'd have been eating popcorn and watching Netflix or better still reading now' I said. Ava can you hear yourself right now? You sound like a complete nerd.

'Seriously, what at you? a nerd?, I seriously still can't believe you've never attended a party before, how old are you?' He asked surprised.

'Seventeen' I replied flatly.

'Well aside that, wanna make the party more fun?' He asked.

'Sure' I said shrugging my shoulders.

'Well.........'

'Ava' I helped him out.

'Ava wanna dance?' He asked

'Hell no' I replied quickly

'What you are afraid I'll see how bad of a dancer you are?' He asked smirking.
If you think he's cute when he smiles then you've not seen him smirk.

I knew where he was going with this but I was too competitive for my liking

'Who told you that? I dance pretty well' I replied before I could stop myself

Oh Ava what are you getting yourself into?

'Well then, prove me wrong' he said pulling me off my seat gently

'Well that I'll'
