akila was born as the daugher of two immigrants, asenath abrax halim and pichai ngam. her parents were newly wedded in los angeles, where both of them had met for the first time. they had hidden their relationship for a long time before they married, because her grandparents from both sides didn't want their child to marry someone sho wasn't from their country. but her parents fell in love and asenath was pregnant with akila so they had her. 

they raised her in los angeles until she had turned seven years old. even though she had a small friend group in elementary school, which she sadly didn't stay in touch with when she grew older, she was also comfronted with a lot of racism and bullying. 

her grandparents all hated her for being mixed as well and always terrorized the small family, trying to break up their parents. she witnessed a lot of messy things and fights between her parents and her grandparents, they were throwing things and would scream at each other whenever her grandparents showed up. 

it got so bad that one day, when akila tried to interfere to stop the fight, she was hit with a pan by her grandmother maternal and had to go to the hospital. she had a concussion.

her parents finally had enough of the terror and decided to leave los angeles and move to some small town, somewhere else in america. thats how they ended up in mysthaven. 

when she was almost 10, her mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. they noticed it almost to late and her mother was temporarily in mortal danger, the doctors had to take out her uterus completely.
