Chapter 3: Small Teeth Lead To Big Wounds

Chapter 3

''Eevee?'' Tommy's little fingers rested on my thigh as he leaned over me to look at the small crown I was building from blades of grass and stray dandelions.

His nickname for me made my lips tug up into a smile and ruffle his thick black hair before placing the crown on his head, his hands reaching up to grab it as he stumbled back and fell over onto his butt and tried to look up at his new accessory.

''Eeevee!'' He gave up on trying to look at his crown and tugged on my cardigan sleeve.

I knew what he wanted and I obliged as I took the oversized, knitted warmth off and shifted into my wolf.

He screamed in excitement and tugged at my fur telling me to lay down and I did, the small wobbly steps of the boy climbing up my side and laying on my back one arm and leg on each side.

Tommy was obsessed with Pokemon and probably thought my tan fur and white chest looked a lot like his favourite Pokemon 'Eevee'. It was cute and sounded similar enough to my name so I never bothered to correct the small boy. It also made his mother, our Luna smile and nod thankfully at me for settling the sometimes terror child. He was getting to that stage where they are really naughty because they're getting smarter and more curious.

We laid there for a long time just feeling each other breathe, his little fingers running between my fur until I felt a solid bite into my shoulder from the toddler. My head whipped around to check on the boy who smiled at the mark.

''Mummy and Daddy say love.''

I shook my head at the boy, snarling a small growl in disapproval as I made a mental note to correct his learning about marking someone. I definitely was not destined to be his mate the poor boy was confused between loving someone as family and marking a mate for love. We were lucky a child's bite had no pairing effect on another wolf but in a few years' time, it would become concerning.

Toxins in a wolf's mark only seemed to produce once they came of age at sixteen and by then you were bored of hearing your teachers preaching about sacred marks so it was fairly uncommon for a teen to make a dumb mistake. Uncommon but not rare.

As we settled back into the grass, Tommy pouting at being reprimanded, I watched Rhyan charging older war wolves and dodging the swiftness of the slimmer built scouts who definitely had speed on their side as one swung around and jumped on his back.

My wolf shot up, painful handfuls of my fur being tugged on to hold the small child on my back as the wolf tugged on my brothers back, surges of electricity tingling through my legs ready to be released if I needed to sprint to his aid.

Painful whimpers barked in the air hurting my sensitive ears as the scout was crushed beneath Rhyan's mass as he rolled onto his back effectively shaking the attack off.

Tommy sliding down my back broke my attention as my wolf calmed, turning around to pick up the young boy by his shirt in my jaws. When I turned around my eyes connected with deep green eyes that seemed to lead into a dark abyss. They were terrifying like you could get sucked into them and never find your way out of the murkiness.

I didn't want to spend any more time staring into his eyes that refused to break so I did, my teeth gripping Tommy's shirt safely as I turned and moved the boy away from the group of men being ushered into the pack house by Alpha Leon and a few of his most trusted war wolves.

This man made me uncomfortable, the two young boys by his side wearing barely anything but bandages, thin shorts and cuts had me shivering in horror, the smiles on their faces plastered thickly as they giggled to each other.

I had just about enough when thankfully Luna came over to take her son from me giving a concerned smile, rubbing my head in thanks and taking her son off into the pack house, trailing a wary distance behind the men as to avoid them before slipping off through another entrance.

My bones slipped and popped as they moved harshly back into the place of my human form, my body shaking with the change before I quickly slipped my clothes back on, the gentle breeze tingling my skin making goosebumps rise across it.

It wasn't long before I was home, still shaken by the gaze of the foreign alpha. I was about to ask my parents if they knew who the pack was but they were fast asleep on the couch leaning on one another.

I could feel my body relaxing at their image and a small smile creep onto my face as I tip-toed up the stairs and to the bathroom to take a shower and wash away the day's events.

The afternoon was slowly turning to evening when I emerged from the shower, put on some briefs and a shirt and laid into my bed drawing on my sketchbook, the warm sun slowly dimming behind the trees outside when my door opened to Rhyan looking a little disappointed.

''You left me.'' He huffed as he walked into my room like he owned the place.

''I was bored.'' I turned back to my sketchbook, scratching my shoulder before suddenly hissing at the small teeth holes still closing.

''Did someone do something to you again?'' His eyebrows furrowed as he sat on my bed beside me going to pull my shirt down but I brushed his hand off.

''No, I'm fine it's nothing.'' I smiled his way and picked my pencil up to continue drawing.

''I worry about you.'' Fingers ghosted over my flesh, goosebumps forming again at the soft touch on my cheek as he turned my face to his and looked softly into my eyes switching between gazing at each one.

His hand crept into my shirt and pulled the fabric down to reveal the bite from Tommy and glowing eyes bore into mine, claws digging into my shoulder causing a cry of pain to pierce my throat as the nails split and stretched my skin besides the wound.

''Who did this?'' Rhy's voice was short, deep and clipped, his eyebrows crossed firmly on his face and his canines protruding from his gums.

''You're hurting me.'' I winced as I tried to roll over and grab his hand from my now bleeding flesh.

''Who marked you?'' My body was pulled over, Rhyan looming above me with my back pressed into the mattress, the binding coils of my art book digging painfully into my spine.

''Ouch!'' I cried as tears pricked my eyes.

My brother never scarred me not once in my life, I knew my twin but his wolf was very much in control right now. A wolf was unpredictable when in control especially one as strong as Rhyan's in comparison to mine.

His nose dug into my neck, a quick squeak coming from me as I tried to pull away from him, his canines too close to my jugular for comfort.

Ash hair brushed my cheek as he ran his nose up and down my neck, the action causing a shiver to run the length of my body, closing my eyes in anticipation of what might come when his grip loosened on my arms.

Soft kisses lapped at my veins, my body relaxing into them for a moment until they reached the now barely noticeable wound.

''You're mine.'' His wolf whined and I couldn't help but bring my hands up to brush his hair and soothe his wolf.

''Yes, yes I'm your brother.'' I smiled softly at him but he looked unsatisfied with my response as his face buried in my neck again, his left arm planting beside my head and his right hand on my hip kneading the flesh in waves.

''More.'' He sucked on my neck and then my Adam's apple, a soft 'pop' in my ear every time he detached from the sensitive flesh, bruises surely forming beneath them as he nibbled on the reddened skin.

I could feel my body stirring at the action, my mouth parting in small pants as I lifted my chin to give him more room, shivers under my skin chasing his hand every motion as it crept along my bones and under my shirt, heating the flesh beneath it.

He broke away from my neck, my eyes barely opening as he stared at my face and then into my soft brown eyes, our breath mingling in the inches between us, his eyes loving like they always were before they turned hard again.

My eyes shot open at his threatening expression before he clamped down onto my neck and the squeak of my door opening joined my cry of pain.

Next chapter will be a little hard on our hearts prepare yourself.
