Chapter 11
(A/N): Long time, no see my fabulous readers! It's been awhile, so my writing skills may be a little rusty...but hopefully that won't stop you from enjoying this new chap!
Happy Reading!!
I decided to put my story to a pause since my voice was started to become hoarse from talking for almost two hours, while Tom steered the car toward the direction of a rest stop. He and Sabine both told me and Marinette we could get out and use the bathroom or grab a snack since he wanted to take a short nap before getting back on the road.
Marinette tried to casually ask for our phones back, but to her dismay she was refused by her parents once again.
"This...this is just torture," she pouted with sad bunny eyes as we both walked down the concrete path towards the brick building.
"I'm sure you can survive a few more days without your phone," I reassured her, secretly grinning to myself.
Marinette groaned. "Do you not understand the struggle of waking up in the morning and never being able to check my notifications? Or letting so many moments fly by without posting them on SnapChat? OR wearing a cute outfit that I have been planning to wear for weeks and can't even post a selfie of me wearing it on Instagram??"
".....No?" I answered uncertainly. Unlike Marinette, and pretty much every girl in our class, I don't really use social media that often.
Or rather...I don't post often.
I usually just use my accounts to see what all my friends are posting on their pages and to stay updated with everyone. Other than that, my profiles are pretty bland.
Marinette shook my head at my response, as if she was disappointed that I wasn't entirely devoted to social media like she was. "Well, how are you dealing with not being able to have your phone?" she asked. "What about those movies and anime episodes you downloaded for nothing? And your games?"
I shrugged. "It's not like they're gonna disappear. I'll just watch them when we're back home. Besides," I wrapped my arm her with a playful smile and a sideways glance, "Why would I be on my phone when we're having sooo much fun?"
"Yeah, you telling my parents of how we met and started dating is 'oh so wonderful'," she snorted.
"I didn't even get to that part yet. Or the part when we--"
"Yeah...but can't you leave that part out? You do realize that I intend to not reveal every little detail of my love life to my parents, right?"
"But it's part of the story."
"Fine, then I'll just tell your Dad about how you sent me a long email confessing your feelings for me..."
I gathered my eyebrows with a puzzled expression before saying, "But I never sent an email to you."
Marinette smirked. "I didn't say my story would be legit. But still," she laughed as we both steered in different directions towards the two bathrooms, "Me getting an email at the time would've been nice..."
I shook my head and smiled, knowing the hidden meaning behind her words.
After freshening up in the bathroom, I walked out and noticed Marinette didn't come out yet, so I decided to sit on a bench outside the building and wait for her.
"Marinette didn't come out yet?" asked Sabine a few minutes later, who decided to get out of the car for some fresh air.
I shook my head in response and chuckled, "I think she's probably messing with her hair again."
"That's a possibility," laughed Sabine as she took a seat beside on the bench. "She can be very self conscience when it comes to her hair."
I nodded in response.
A faint breeze gently brushed by us, and Sabine took in a deep breath and sighed with content as she raised her head towards the sky. "It's a marvelous day today, isn't it?"
It really was. The warmth from the rays of the sun felt comforting against my skin. Trees and various yellow flowers that were scattered around the area slightly danced to the breeze, and colorful birds of blue and red flew around us.
Sitting there witnessing the beauty of the day made me think of how much my mother loved being outdoors, and she would always describe it as "watching the world rotate in so many different ways".
I had almost reached the point where not everything I saw and felt reminded me of my mom...but every now and then each day brought new little reminders of how much I missed her.
"You know," Sabine said thoughtfully, "I haven't heard much about your mother, but something tells me you've inherited many traits from her."
"Yeah, my dad always says that I have her eyes and her stubbornness," I replied, folding my hands casually on my lap and my gaze downcast.
Sabine smiled. "I'm definitely sure you do. But something tells me you both often take a step back and observe whatever is going on around you, whether good or bad, before you continue forward."
I shrugged. "I guess you can say that. But sometimes..." I hesitated, trying to find the right words to describe what I wanted to express. "...sometimes I feel like we both pause too much. Like we always have to analyze every little detail in our surroundings whenever we come across something different or new. And it kinda bothers me, because it's like we both hesitate when there's really no need to."
Reassuringly, Sabine patted my knee with her hand. "There's nothing wrong with testing the waters before diving in an ocean. Sometimes there isn't any need to hesitate, but then again, nobody said it was a crime. We're all human after all. But even still," she added, "we'll need to get our feet wet sometime, right?"
I pondered what she said as my eyes focused on a passing airplane that I had just spotted a second ago.
"I'm back!" Marinette appeared a moment later, her pink and white flowered slides smacking against the soles of her feet as she approached us. "Sorry I took so long. There were a few zits I had to take care of."
"Says the girl who never gets zits," I rolled my eyes in amusement.
Marinette pointed to a section on her forehead. "Do you see this? This right here??"
"You mean that clear patch of skin on your head? Yeah, I can see it pretty clearly."
"I don't see anything on your face, sweetie," voiced her mom with a knowing laugh. "You really need to loosen up about your appearance these days."
"Well, I thought there was something there," huffed Marinette.
A minute later, we were seated in the car once more and were back on the road once more. The moment the car was in motion I felt my eyelids suddenly become extremely heavy, and a few minutes later I dozed off on Marinette's shoulder, images of trees and sunshine consuming my mind as I drifted off to sleep.
(A/N):
Ughhhh it feels SO GOOOD being back on Wattpad, and I'm actually really impressed with this chapter. There's not much going on, but the convo between Sabine and Adrien was really cool to write :-)
Hello, my beloved readers, and welcome back to a long awaited chapter of "In Her Shoes" !!!
Summer is officially here, and I've been taking FULL advantage. I'm currently binging at least 5 animes, and one of my favorite is Inuyasha. Shippo is so adorable :-3 <3
Oh, and I also saw the new Miraculous episode, Gamer 2.0. Which was FREAKING AMAZINGGG.
I can't wait until we get our truckload of episodes in July *sniff*
Anyways, you guys know the drill ;-) Comment, vote, and feel free to share! Let me know what you guys thought of this chapter, what you thought of the new Miraculous episode, or even drop a pm in my inbox to say hey!
If you guys have any fanfic requests, like oneshots or stuff, don't hesitate to ask! I'll have a lot of time on my hands, and I wanna expand my writing. It doesn't have to be just from Miraculous either. You can request ships or character one-shots from different shows too :-)
As for "Torn and Conflicted", the last few pages need some more work. I initially wanted just 3 parts, but it looks like I might have to add a few more. I also need to design a new cover cuz the one I currently have needs to GOOOO.
*ahem* Anyways, THANK YOU GUYS SOOOOO MUCH for being so patient and for all your support. I've read all your comments and have seen the reads and votes go up so much...I can't even describe how grateful I am for having you all read my stories. You guys are amazingly awesome, and never forget that! ;-)
Welp, this author's not is getting a little too long, so I guess I'll end it here. Next chapter is coming next Friday, so stay tuned!
Love you guys, and STAY MIRACULOUS!!! <3<3<3
