Chapter 1

It was only after the crazy adventures and mishaps Nino and I experienced that Marinette's parent's invited me on a car trip with a plan to drive from Bellthorn, Virginia all the way to Augusta, Maine-- approximately 757 miles. At first, I was going to decline, thinking that them riding in a car with their daughter's boyfriend would be awkward to the point of suffocation.

But Marinette-- as well as my Dad-- convinced me to go. And I realized this road trip was something that I really needed, despite not wanting to go.

Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng were delighted when I told them that I would be joining them on their road trip.

"This is gonna be one heck of an adventure!" boomed Mr. Dupain-Cheng.

"Just think about all of the amazing sights that await us!" said Mrs. Dupain-Cheng excitedly.

Marinette and I were seated in the back, exchanging knowing smiles. Marinette's parents were the definition of a happy couple. It didn't matter if they were headed to Hawaii or to Antarctica...as long as they were able to travel and experience new things together, every place on the planet was another journey they had yet to take.

As for me, I was never an adventurous person. I was content with staying in one place, and I never really got excited for vacations after my mom left. But besides being asked by Marinette and her family, I had other reasons (most of them I've never told a soul) why I wanted to go:

1. My mother was in Maine.

2.  I wanted to go see her, but I was afraid to.

3.  Dad wanted to spend time with Natalie. He already went to Maine a few months ago and visited Mom. Even though he didn't want me to go, he told me that this trip would help me put myself in her shoes and understand her more.

Also, though this reason is irrelevant in my opinion, Marinette didn't want to be alone with her parents for an entire 10 hour or so ride.

"The last time we went on a road trip," Marinette had said before we left, "my Mom and Dad wanted to go to Florida, but halfway there they accidentally broke the GPS. And worse of all, they left BOTH of their chargers at home, so both their phones were dead. So for the rest of the ride they were using my phone to look up directions AND they were going through all my social media. You have no idea how humiliated I was."

Unlike her, I didn't have to worry about my parents going through my phone. My mother was gone, and my father couldn't care less of what I did online.

As we finally pulled onto the main highway, I made a wish that we would have a safe trip and that I would get to see my mother. For some reason, whenever I wish for something I always look up toward the sky, as if the clouds had the ability to grant my wish. I started to daydream what it would be like to grab a piece of cloud from the sky and keep it as some sort of lucky charm.

"Adrien," Mrs. Dupain-Cheng's voice startled me from my thoughts.

"Yes, ma'am?"

"Why don't you entertain us?" she asked.

"What did you have in mind?"

To my right, I heard Marinette sigh in embarrassment.

"Why don't you tell us a story?" suggested Mr. Dupain-Cheng.

"Papa, why can't we just listen to music?" Marinette groaned, making me smile.

She looked adorable when she was grumpy.

"Oh, I didn't tell you the number one for this trip, did I?" Mr. Dupain-Cheng asked. "Well, the rule is: no using phones unless absolutely necessary. We're doing this the old fashioned way!"

Marinette gasped. "Papa!"

"Your father is right, Marinette," voiced Mrs. Dupain-Cheng. "Technology is constantly eating away our lives. We'll never be able to have some quality family time unless we avoid devices."

I cleared my throat. "Uh, well you see, the thing is... I kinda already downloaded a few movies and anime episodes on my phone--"

"And they'll be waiting for you at the hotel. Now come on, spin us a yarn!"

Knowing that there was no way out of this, I racked my brain for a story to tell. The only stories I knew were from my mother, who would always read to me when I was little. But I doubt hearing about Sammy the Snail would be very entertaining.

"What kind of story should I tell?" I asked them, running a hand through my hair uncertainly.

Mrs. Dupain-Cheng clasped her hands excitedly. "Oo! What about that story about your friend...what's his name?"

Marinette raised an eyebrow. "Luka?"

"No, the boy with the glasses."

"Nino?"  I asked.

"Yes, him! Didn't a robber or something break into his house?"

I chuckled. "Not exactly."

"Well, then, why don't you tell us what happened?"

And this is how I told the story of Nino and the burglar, the mysterious clues, his dad disappearing, and how we both dealt with it all.

(A/N):

Hey guys!

Finally posted this chapter! And it didn't even take that long.

Evil Unicorn: Probably because it was so short

Shut up, I'm busy okay?!?

*cough*

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chap! Please don't forget to drop a comment, and click on that little star up in the corner. I'd really appreciate it.

Oh and omg I can't WAIT for these new episodes!! We're legit being bombed with Season 3 episodes and I'm loving it so muchhhhh. Which episode are you most excited for?!

I'm dying to see the "Silencer" one. I wonder if the person getting akumatised will have the ability to silence everyone forever or something. It would be hilarious to see how Ladybug and Chat Noir would save the day without being able to communicate!

Btw, please refrain from putting spoilers in the comments or on my feed. I know some people don't mind spoilers, but I personally want to have major heart attacks whenever I watch a new episode ;-)

Lol, but I guess that's it! See you next chap, and stay Miraculous <3!
