The End

'Hi,' a tall figure said from behind Selah as she prepared to leave the bar.

She knew he was tall cause his shadow covered her phone. The figure walked to her front and balanced his hands on the chair beside Selah. She looked at him and said hi back, eyes back to her phone. She had had enough of guys since college and now service. She was almost done and didn't need any spoilers.

'My name is Teddie. What's yours?' he asked with a cool deep voice that could freeze an ice cream yet soften and melt a hot day. He was dead gorgeous and looked nerdy.

'I'm Selah,' she responded casually. Figuring she won't want to discuss about herself after that, he sat down without her consent.

'I like you,' he said to her, still ignoring her urge to press her phone and pretend he wasn't sitting beside her. 'Not the way you think...not sexually or something but just in general cause you're cool.'

'You don't even know me,' she diverted her attention to the hot guy who won't stop looking at her.

'Gradually I could...if you'd give me a chance. I believe we started on the wrong foot here. I apologise. My name is Teddie and you are?'

Selah bit her lips from blushing. She liked his accent, his cool nature and his face, most especially his face.

'I'm Selah. Apology accepted,' she smiled and continued, 'you came with someone?'

'If I did,' he replied, 'I won't be sitting with you now, would I?'

She smiled again, satisfied that this handsome guy came to sit with her and didn't come with a female friend.

'So...tell me about yourself.'

'You know my name. I'm from Ondo state and I'm a lawyer and a web anything... developer, designer...what we're called these days. I schooled in Obafemi Awolowo University.'

Hmm...mature and smooth she muttered to herself.

'Okay. You know my name. I'm from AkwaIbom and I'm a journalist and a writer and an artist and many amazing things. I schooled in Benin.'

Over the next few weeks, Selah spent time with Teddie...at a bar, his house and strolling on the streets. She admitted it was a relief from her stress and service as a whole. She enjoyed his company and knew so much she felt she had to know about him and in turn, she blabbed about her life.

One thing intrigued her most about his personality...he was a listener. He would listen to her talk and talk and he didn't even show he was bored; even if he was. He would talk little and listen much. She was starting to crush on him.

Easy there female adrenaline. Don't forget the past...it started with a crush and ended painfully.

'Can I ask you something,' he told her one Tuesday evening when they hung out.

'Shoot,' she responded, drinking the chi exotic he bought for them.

'Will you be my girlfriend?'

That came out fast.

'Really?' she swallowed her drink hard. 'Right now?' she questioned.

'Not right now...' he smiled.

'Okay...I'll think about it.'

She didn't want to think about it. He was a church guy and she wasn't ready to have a Forgive me Father for I have sinned relationship with Teddie. He was everything right and she was everything wrong...from the beginning to the end. He wasn't supposed to like her...he was supposed to keep her at arm's length.

Wednesday afternoon she called him. 'I thought about it and my answer is yes.'

Wow! was all she heard him say along with the paper analysis of probabilities and possibilities of things to go wrong in the relationship. She was so stupid. Why did she think things will be better this time. All he could say was Wow!

Wow!

Was he taking her for granted...the tears started flowing. All the guys were the same...sweet tongue with sour promises.

Thursday came and there was no call or text from Teddie. She was really a fool...this was more painful than being duped. Thursday evening and she walked to the bar they hung out to relieve painful memories. Then he walked in.

Thank God plus you're so fucked.

'Hi,' he said and sat down. She didn't respond; as much as her body wanted to reach out and ask why?

'Can we talk?' he asked. She didn't respond. A call came in and she picked. It was her friend Peggy.

'Babe, how far?' she asked, 'where you dey?'

'At the bar...' she almost said with Teddie but she knew her friend will cross hell and high water to where she was and confront Teddie.

'My boyfriend is coming over to sleep so you can't sleep in the house today.'

She sighed. 'I don't have where to sleep sha...but I'll think of something.' The call ended.

Great! What's the next disappointing thing that will happen to me...

Now Teddie in his hidden wolf's satisfaction will want to offer help and less surprising as it was, he offered. She refused to smile but was thankful he would spend time with her so she could drop the molded blocks why on him.

Night drew near and he was ready to go...so was she. They walked quietly, got a ride to his street and walked silently all the way home. Once inside, she climbed the bed and ignored him, pressing her phone. All she wanted to do at that point was talk to him...the gnawing feeling of asking lots of questions like wasn't she good enough... was he playing her all along... was the good boy church boy thing a deceit to use her and count it as a win... is that what the Bible instructed believers to do to their fellow brethren

'Talk to me Selah...but please don't sleep on the floor...it's cold,' he said when he noticed her on the floor after he had climbed the bed by her order.

She didn't respond.

'Be mad at me...hate me but please climb the bed or I'll sleep on the floor with you...'

'Suit yourself,' she blurted out and laid down; despite the cold, her pride won't let her obey him...not after what he's done. He came down, laid with her, even in her hateful, arrogant tone the entire night.

'What do you want?' she asked, a tear dropped but she was fast enough to clean it. She couldn't hide it anymore... 'I didn't deserve what you did on Wednesday and you won't even explain...not that it'll matter so leave me alone.'

'I won't,' he said and kissed her.

Damn you Selah. You're falling for this shit...

Well she was cause she kissed him right back and it was a heated passion for both of them. The night held so many memories she hoped she won't have to cry about later. She wasn't sure anymore but it didn't matter better enjoy every moment anyways. He touched her in ways Segun or Chris never did and she needed more.

The next morning, Teddie ditched work to stay with Selah. He kissed her forehead when she was still sleeping and held her hands, causing her to wake.

'Good morning beautiful.'

'What time is it?' she asked, searching for her phone with her hand.

'Time to give me an answer.'

'Answer to what?' she knew what he would ask but she didn't want to give any answer. The best was to stay friend zoned rather than heart broken.

'To be my girlfriend. I am so sorry I analysed your answer. I wasn't sure I wanted a relationship after you said yes but I know what I want and it's you Selah. I need you. I want to be better, take God's things more seriously like I used to. I won't ask you to do it with me, just be yourself and I'll still love you.'

That's not the first but t'was truthful.

She sighed...she had prayed to God often to bring a good person her way and that anyone who'd come would be a lover of His ways. She had seen that person.

'So when do we start?' she asked, sitting down and resting her head in his chest.

'Now...' he said and tickled her...
