Chapter 15

The next week flew past and it was moving day again. The door bell rang and Harper raced excitedly to fling open the heavy wooden door. Sebastian stood on her doorstep dressed stylishly in worn fitted jeans and a faded tight lilac t shirt, with his obligatory worn black converse sneakers. His eyes covered with black iconic ray ban sunglasses. Just having him with her, gave Harper more strength, and she knew that she would be able to get through today a lot easier. Behind him, Harper could see his Bentley Super Sports convertible was parked in the drive way.

"Sebby!!" Harper cried excitedly, rushing into his toned arms, the smell of his aftershave wrapped around her, reminding her of the warmth of the tropics. It had a woody spicy fragrance with notes of musk, jasmine, nutmeg, vanilla and rum. He smelt delicious. Harper sniffed him again.

"Oh my!" She exclaimed. "You smell amazing."

Sebastian smiled and hugged her again.

"Let me rub some more of my scent on you!" He joked. Harper giggled.

"What is it?" She laughed, snuggled into his chest.

"It's Straight to Heaven." He replied with a cheeky grin. "Appropriate right?"

Harper chuckled softly. She looked up at him and plucked at his soft t shirt with her fingers.

"You know that we're doing some moving today right? Why are you all dressed up?"

Sebastian laughed. "These are old clothes my darling. Where's husband man?"

"He went out to play tennis this morning with Ethan." Harper replied with a smile. "It's going to make this so much easier."

Sebastian nodded in agreement. "Let's get this party started hun-eee!"

He started disco dancing as he went up the stairs. Harper laughed and followed her sashaying best friend to the second floor.

They started repacking up Harper's belongings that had unpacked after the first time. It wasn't much. A few of her favourite pieces of jewellery, some of her most loved clothes and a few pairs of her favourite shoes. She only had a few boxes left to fill.

She heard the door open downstairs.

"Oh no." Harper's face paled. "He's home early." Sebastian took her hand.

"It's ok darling." He said reassuringly. "I'm here."

Harper nodded and squeezed his hand tightly, drawing strength from his warm grasp.

"Hey Harper!" She heard Jackson call out to her happily. "I won playing tennis against Ethan today!"

"That's great Jack." She called back to him. She looked at Sebastian, the anxious butterflies in her stomach started fluttering around. She put her hand on her tummy to try and settle herself.

"Let me go down stairs first Har-Bear." Sebastian said protectively. He lifted up the first box to take down to his car. "Let's see where he's at."

Harper nodded, it felt like she was on the verge of passing out. She sat down on the edge of her bed, trying to get herself together. Her thoughts tumbled chaotically around in her mind.

Sebastian headed down the stairs with the box in his hands.

Harper strained to hear if she could make out any of the conversation between the two men. She heard them talking, low murmurs at first, then Jackson's voice started to get louder. She heard Jackson pounding up the stairs. He burst into her room, making Harper jump to her feet.

"What the fucking hell is going on here?" Jackson bellowed at her, his eyes dark green with anger, his body shaking with indignation.

"I'm moving out." Harper replied, trying to sound confident and in control, while she placed her shaking hands into her pockets.

"What?" Jackson roared furiously. "What the fuck do you mean you're moving out?"

This isn't fucking happening! He thought furiously. This can't be happening... She can't leave me. I need her here with me.

"I already discussed this with you." Harper said, trying her best to sound calm. "Two weeks ago while we were having dinner."

He stepped up close to her, his face inches away from hers, his face contorted with savage fury. His whole body trembled with his barely contained anger. Harper stood her ground. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Sebastian standing in the door way, concern written all over his face, hovering close by just in case anything happened.

"You didn't fucking mean it." He snarled furiously. "You've said it all before!"

Jackson stepped closer to her again, trying to use his size to intimidate her. His hands curled into fists and raised slowly.

"I did Jackson." Harper replied softly, desperate to not let his size threaten her. "I really meant it this time."

Jackson saw red. He losing his life, the careful facade that he built for himself. He growled at her without words. He rushed forward and threw her up against the wall violently by the throat, just like the last time. His hand closed in around her throat, cutting off her air flow. Harper's face turned scarlet and her hands furiously scratched at his, vainly trying to make him loosen his grip. Sebastian darted in quickly and grabbed Jackson around the chest to pull him off her. Jackson struggled against Sebastian's strong arms and the two men wrestled against each other.

"Let go of me you fucking fag!" Jackson snapped furiously, trying to throw Sebastian off his back.

"Harper!" Sebastian called to her in shock and concern. "Are you ok?"

Harper had fallen to her knees in shock. Her trembling hands at her throat, trying to catch her breath.

"I'm ok." She croaked in between gasps. "I'll be ok."

"Just calm down buddy." Sebastian said in a calm voice. He held onto Jackson's struggling body until he stopped resisting.

"I'm calm." Jackson insisted in a relatively even tone, trying to shrug out of Sebastian's grasp. "Let me go."

"Let Harper gather her things and then we'll be out of here." Sebastian instructed with an air authority. Jackson nodded defeated.

Sebastian kept a tight hold on Jackson and turned to Harper.

"Come on my darling. Take the rest of the boxes down to my car."

Harper nodded, slowly rising from the floor. She stood for a moment, trying to catching her breath, before she picked up a couple of the boxes to take down stairs.

"You enjoying this queer-mo?" Jackson taunted. "You like holding me this close?"

Sebastian winced and gritted his teeth at the jab, reminding him of the bullies that used to torment him in his teenage years.

"Yeh you're loving having this man candy so close to you." Jackson sneered, twisting the knife deeper. "Bet your faggy ass is loving this right now."

"Just go Harper." Sebastian said calmly, letting Jackson's cruel taunts slip past him like water off a ducks back.

She turned and left with the boxes, every step that she took down the stairs was nerve wracking. Harper placed the boxes in the boot of Sebastian's convertible. There was still space in his elegant leather upholstered back seat for a few more boxes.

Sebastian let Jackson go and the two men stood toe to toe. Jackson eyed him warily.

"Don't fuck with me." Sebastian said flatly. "You're going to let Harper move out. And you're going to do it without causing any problems."

Sebastian's eyes were hard and bleak. They held an expression that you didn't want to argue with.

Jackson looked at him surprised that such a manly tone could come out of his mouth and that his eyes could be so cold.

"Like you can stop me from doing anything about it you fucking queer-mo." Jackson snarled. He stepped closer and stood over Sebastian, trying to intimidate him with his size. This fucking queer wasn't going to intimidate him with his pseudo gangster like demeanour.

Sebastian stood his ground without flinching. It was like he had ice water running through his veins.

"Sit down." The simple command made Jackson sit, without even thinking twice about it.

"I'm going to tell you what's going to happen if you decide that you want to interfere." Sebastian continued flatly. "I'm going to have you charged with assault and battery. Your life, career and money - all down the toilet."

Jackson stared straight ahead without saying a word.

"I'll end you." Sebastian said, his voice void of emotion.

Jackson nodded again, defeated, the options that were presented to him weren't what he was expecting. The change in Sebastian surprised him. He never suspected that Sebastian had such a such a nasty side.

She made her way up the stairs again, Jackson and Sebastian were sitting on the edge of her bed. Jackson looked vexed, but calmer than before.

"We've had a little chat," Sebastian said calmly. "He's not going to give us any more trouble."

Harper nodded, not trusting herself to answer. Her hands shook as she packed away the remaining items, tossing them haphazardly into the boxes. Trying to get herself packed up and away from Jackson as quickly as possible.

Sebastian and Jackson both sat on the bed watching her. Jackson placed his head in his hands, his muscular shoulders collapsed. Sebastian sat alert as if waiting for Jackson to pounce on Harper at any moment.

Harper finished throwing in her remaining possessions into the boxes with shaking hands.

"Ok Sebastian," Harper said, her voice raspy from Jackson's assault, running her hand through her hair. "I think we're done now."

Sebastian nodded and stood up. He looked at Jackson as if waiting for him to make a move to stop Harper from leaving.

"Let's go Harper." He said. His shrewd blue eyes took in the room, making sure that nothing was left behind. He grabbed the last of the boxes and followed her downstairs.

They loaded up Sebastian's car with the last of the boxes and Harper went to start her car.

Jackson stormed outside and cornered Harper against her car.

"No!" He yelled angrily. "You leave the car here."

Harper looked at him stunned.

"What?" She stammered. "This car is mine."

"No." He barked, his finger pointing at her. "It's not. I paid for it."

Harper sighed. Sebastian swooped in between them before Jackson had a chance to get physical with Harper again.

"Come on Har-Bear," he said calmly, his eyes locked with Jackson. He held Jackson's gaze reminding him of the words that they had upstairs. "We'll take mine."

Harper sighed in exasperation.

"Fine." She snapped, annoyed at how childishly Jackson was behaving.

Harper slid into the leather seat and buckled her seat belt. Sebastian started the engine and the W12 rumbled into life with the faint whine of the turbo kicking in. Sebastian put the car into reverse and backed out of the drive way. He pulled out into the street and looked over at Harper.

"It's done now darling." He said with his hand on hers. "The hardest part is over."

He shifted the car into drive and drove down the street, leaving Jackson fuming in the drive way.

As he watched the car pull out of the drive way, he paced back and forth angrily. So it happened! Even the threat of leaving her car didn't make her stay. And where did that bitch find the keys? Was she going through his safe? Did she find the photos and other evidence that he had against Brooklyn and her new girlfriend? Is this why she wanted to leave so badly?

He raced upstairs and scrambled through his safe. Everything thing was there as he had left it. Harper's car keys, the hard copies of the photos that he'd printed just in case. It was all there. He breathed a sigh of relief as he closed the safe and made his way down the stairs slowly.

So how did she get the fucking key? He thought furiously. Why didn't the piece of shit PI tell me about this? Warn me so I was prepared for everything?

Jackson unlocked his phone and started checking his emails. Damn! Nothing in his inbox from the PI. He checked his junk mail and found an email from a few days ago with photos of Harper and Sebastian at the Porsche dealership.

It would also seem that Harper had a new set of keys cut for the Porsche. Looks like I'll have to lock that car up in storage now. He thought. I'll be damned if I make anything easier for her. I I don't want to make anything easier for her.

"Fuck!" He swore as he locked his phone and made his way to the living room.

He poured himself a 12 yo Chivas which he downed in a single shot, not even taking the time to savour the glorious amber liquid. He poured another glass and savoured the first mouthful finally, with hazelnut and honey notes swirling around in his mouth, finishing in a glorious creamy finish. Jackson sighed with annoyance, as he thought about everything that had happened with Harper and Sebastian. He couldn't believe that fag threatened him, like he had done anything wrong, he was simply trying to keep his marriage together. How is that something that could be held against him?

He went outside to light a La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull cigar as he pondered his next move, letting the fragrant hickory and leather smoke roll over his tongue, before exhaling pensively. As he kept smoking the cigar developed a more complex spiciness of cumin and saffron, his thoughts kept swirling around as he watched the rich plumes of smoke float away into the night sky.
