Chapter 7

"Wake up, sleepyhead!"

A feeble groan left Rantaro's lips as he begrudgingly opened his eyes.

Immediately, he was greeted with a wide, mischievous smile. "Finally! And here I thought that I was supposed to be the sleeping beauty around here!"

Hovering over him was none other than Kokichi, hands on the bed next to either side of his head as he straddled Rantaro.

Green eyes blinked groggily at gleaming purple ones. "Took ya long enough!" Kokichi chirped.

"What time is it...?" Rantaro's tired eyes wandered to the clock on the nightstand. It was a little before 9 in the morning. A little early to some- but to an early riser like him, it was actually a little late. "Man, why'd I sleep for so long?"

Kokichi shrugged. "Must've been having a good dream. I wonder what it was about..." He brought a finger up to his cheek, tilting his head and thinking. "Ooh, were you dreaming about me?"

Rantaro laughed a little, closing his eyes. "I already have enough of you now. The last thing I'd do is dream about you." Out of context, his words would come off as a little harsh. The gentle tone of his morning voice added a softness to his words, however, helping prove that he was just joking around.

The fake crocodile tears came in an instant. "You've already had enough of me?!" Kokichi wailed. "Y-you're so mean!"

"Don't be like that," Rantaro let out another laugh. "But, seriously though. This is your..." He paused to think for a moment. "Third day here? Isn't your family worried?"

The crocodile tears came to a stop. "Oh, you're already wanting to meet my family?" Kokichi teased, leaning closer to Rantaro. Their noses brushed against one another. "My, my, Ranty-chan, we only had our first kiss just yesterday~"

Rantaro's breath hitched in his throat. His gaze never wavered as he stared directly into Kokichi's eyes. "Well, you've already met some of mine," He explained. "So it's only fair."

Kokichi sat back upright. "Some?" He questioned. "You have more than five sisters?"

"Five?" Rantaro questioned. "Only four live here."

Kokichi shrugged. "Does it matter?" He asked. "How many sisters do you have?"

Rantaro smiled. "Twelve."

"Twelve?"

"Twelve." He nodded. "All little sisters."

"No way," Although Kokichi had a neutral look on his face, there was a hint of disbelief in his eyes.

"Yep." Rantaro nodded once more.

Kokichi cringed slightly. "Nothing personal, but please tell me you're not all biologically related..."

Rantaro laughed. "Are you kidding? Definitely not." He assured. "A few, maybe, but..." He trailed off, shaking his head. "Actually, I could show you some pictures of them if you'd get off of me."

Kokichi pursed his lips in thought. "I don't know, Ranty-chan," He hummed. He lifted up on of his hands from the mattress, bringing it to Rantaro's chest. "I kinda like this seat," He pressed his finger lightly against the smooth shirt separating their skin, dragging his finger down and making random swirly patterns over his torso. "Why would I need pictures of them if I'm going to meet them, anyways?" He asked.

Sometimes, Rantaro found Kokichi hard to read (which did prove to be annoying at times, but nothing he couldn't handle); this time around, he was certain he could tell from the way Kokichi's voice sounded to the way his expression didn't falter that there was no hidden intentions behind his actions. It was a pure gesture- nothing short of Kokichi being his usual overly touchy-feely self- yet Rantaro found himself enjoying it more than he would have liked to admit. (Not in an indecent way per se; it was more of an innocent, honest enjoyment. The kind of simple pleasure someone feels when they share intimate contact with someone aside from their family for the first time.)

"Who says you're going to meet them?" Rantaro exhaled shakily as he held back a tremble. He wasn't used to this kind of stuff- yet here Kokichi was, drawing undiscernible patterns across his torso as if it were something he'd forget about in a week's time. (And perhaps he would- but the slightly ticklish feeling in his body was telling him otherwise.)

"I thought we were doing some kind of trade?" Kokichi finger came to a cease. Suddenly, bringing his middle finger down next to his pointer finger, he started making walking motions up Rantaro's stomach. "I meet your family and you meet mine. Of course, since your family's so big, I suppose it'd make more sense to split it..." When his fingers got to Rantaro's collarbone, he watched the green-haired boy's lips tremble upwards as he quivered slightly. He smirked.

Rantaro didn't like that. He knew what was coming next. This has happened to him plenty of times before with his sisters. But Kokichi was a magnet for lies and secrets and everything of the sort- anything he'd be hiding was sure to be found out in a matter of time with the supreme leader. "Well, I am curious about your family." Rantaro admitted, hoping Kokichi would spare him mercy. "You tend to avoid talking about them whenever I mention it. You did that a few minutes ago, actually," He added.

"Wow..." Kokichi's two fingers lingered on Rantaro's collarbone- with just enough pressure to make Rantaro have to bite his tongue. "Claiming I'm keeping secrets while you're hiding stuff of your own?" He shook his head. "I didn't take you for the hypocritical type. Besides- don't you have other things to worry about?" He asked, pulling his fingers back and his other hand away from Rantaro's head as well. "Like..."

Oh no.

"How you're actually very ticklish!!!" Kokichi yelled, bringing his hands down at a speed faster than Rantaro could react. With the dexterity of their pianist friend and the speed of their assassin friend, Kokichi ruthlessly worked his fingers on Rantaro's skin- random fingers pressing down on random spots at random times.

Rantaro burst out laughing in an instant. He squeezed his eyes shut as he laughed so hard he made his entire body quake. He tried to pry Kokichi's hands off of him, but his attempts proved to be futile as he was too shaky to get a firm grip on Kokichi's wrists. "H-How did-" He gasped out, trying his hardest to take quick moments to inhale before he got caught in another fit of laughter. "How did you- find out-?"

"Hikari-chan told me~!" Kokichi grinned. He tickled Rantaro for a few moments longer before he finally pulled away, crossing his arms behind his head as he grinned. "I have to repay her sometime- that was way better than I'd thought it'd be."

"Hi-" Rantaro hiccuped. "Hikari-chan? You guys are already on a first name basis?"

"Yep!" Kokichi nodded. "They really like me! Say I'm the best boyfriend you've ever had!" He exclaimed, batting his eyelashes. "But wait a second... I thought you said you've never kissed anyone..." He let out a playful gasp. "Have you never kissed anyone you've dated before?!"

"Slow down," Rantaro was doing much better now, although he was still panting slightly. "I've never even dated anyone before. Speaking of- you didn't correct them on that?" He asked.

"Nope!" Kokichi shook his head. "They were too cute!" He gushed. "I couldn't crush their hopes and dreams like that! Airi-chan and Eri-chan even call me Koki-chan and Kichi-chan respectively! Speaking of... I heard Airi-chan call you Ranty-nii... Does Eri-chan call you Taro-nii?!" He asked.

Rantaro sighed. No wonder they'd tell him his secrets. "Yeah, she does." He answered.

Kokichi's eyes narrowed as the corners of his lips etched upwards into a smirk. "Oh, you don't have to worry about them telling me everything,"

How did Kokichi know what he was thinking?

"There's already some secrets I've found out myself!" A sinister look was now on Kokichi's face- not a trace of his cheerful expression in sight. "You really shouldn't leave stuff so easily accessible in your closet like that..."

Rantaro let out a small groan. Of course Kokichi would snoop around in his closet. He had literally told him that he was free to use whatever he wanted. He should've been a bit more careful with that note.

Suddenly, he remembered Kokichi's little mistake earlier- when he had mentioned five sisters instead of four. Rantaro's brows furrowed. He pursed his lips in thought. Could... Could he have found that?

"...Such as that pretty pink princess dress you have!" Kokichi smiled innocently.

Rantaro let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. Although, he wasn't necessarily thrilled to know that Kokichi had found that article of clothing in his closet, it was better than what he was initially thinking of. "I can explain-"

"-After you put it on!" Kokichi interjected.

"No."

"Wh-what?!" Kokichi gasped, mock hurt showing on his face. "Why not?!"

"I know very well you and Hikari are going to take pictures of me." Rantaro answered. "Plus, I'm not even sure if it'll still fit me."

"Please...?" Kokichi whined, splaying both his palms flat against Rantaro's chest. He leaned forward once again, bringing their faces closer as he batted his eyelashes. "For me...?"

Rantaro averted his gaze, a low groan grumbling in his throat. "Fine..." He relented, cheeks tinting pink out of sheer embarrassment. "Just, please get off of me."

"Deal!" In an instant, Kokichi was off of Rantaro, standing at the side of the bed. He was nearly bouncing in place due to how excited he was.

Rantaro walked over to his closet, closing the door behind him and locking it. "I'm changing in here!" He called out.

"Aww, don't be shy!" He could hear Kokichi loud and clear from the other side of the door. "Come on out! I don't bite, like, 90% of the time! I promise!"

Rantaro grabbed the dress and looked at it. It was a few years old- definitely smaller than he was now. Maybe Kokichi could fit into it. "You are not going to see me struggle to put this on." He shouted loud enough for Kokichi to hear.

Kokichi didn't answer, and Rantaro struggled to put on the dress in a few minutes of a strange silence. When he finished, he took a moment to breathe deeply, hand resting on the doorknob as he closed his eyes.

When he felt he was ready, he opened the door.

Almost instantly, he heard two shutter noises going off. Kokichi and Hikari were both holding their phones up, grins on their faces as they high fived one another. Itsuki was giggling quietly, and Airi and Eri were straight up squealing as they ran up to Rantaro.

"It's the dress! It's the dress!" Eri exclaimed, a big smile on her face. "Taro-nii is wearing the dress!"

"Is it Ranty-nii's turn to be Sleeping Beauty?!" Ari asked, a smile just as big as Eri's on her face.

Rantaro sighed. Today was going to be a long day.
