Chapter 6

Rantaro didn't know what to expect.

He knew that Kokichi and his sisters would have to meet eventually (especially since they both came home before him), but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't worried about how it'd turn out.

The only thing he knew was that he wasn't expecting them to get along as well as they actually did.

Rantaro was genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised to see Kokichi actually playing nice with someone for a change. (Now that was a rare sight. Just how hard had the supreme leader hit his head?) All throughout the day not a singular mean word left his mouth. (Later on in the day, when Kokichi was asked how he felt about his sisters, the only bad thing he'd said was about the headache inducing squeals the twins gave. Rantaro just laughed him off, telling him that he'd get used to it eventually.)

Of course, it didn't mean he wasn't his usual meddlesome self; if anything, Kokichi was even more mischievous with the help of his two youngest (and most gullible) sisters, Airi and Eri. They were often giggling with glee as Kokichi told lie after interesting lie, such as how his evil organization had over 10,000 members and how he'd promote them to second-in-command once they were old enough to join. Even Itsuki and Hikari got their kicks out of the ordeal, such as whenever Kokichi would express absurd amounts of affection towards Rantaro by doing something as innocuous as hug his arm or sit in his lap. (He was fairly sure he'd heard a camera shutter go off at one point in time- probably Hikari's doing.)

Time had passed by in an instant, and before they knew it the moon had already rose up high in the night sky and the clock had struck half past nine. The group had dispersed and retreated to their own rooms for the night.

An hour after they had initially broke away from Rantaro's sisters, Kokichi and him weren't doing anything too exciting in his room room. The last hour was spent with Rantaro helping Kokichi catch up on what he missed during class. The small boy was smarter than he looked, but it made sense at the same time, considering how most supreme leaders are probably smart to some degree.

Rantaro was off in his own little word now that he had finished helping Kokichi out. He had a book on his lap, some work of fiction that Itsuki had recommended him, but his mind had started to wander and soon enough the book lay forgotten in his lap.

As his mind wandered, so did his green eyes. He watched as Kokichi played with a neat braid in his hair that Hikari had made, humming a little tune to himself.

The two weren't saying anything to each other. There were hardly any sounds in the air, save for Kokichi's humming. It made for a relaxing, peaceful silence- one which Rantaro enjoyed a lot.

His thoughts went back to earlier in the day. Apparently, the entire Sleeping Beauty schtick that happened earlier was Kokichi's idea. Rantaro didn't believe it at first, but when Itsuki nodded her head in agreement he had no choice.

Kokichi had noticed Rantaro looking at him after some time had passed. "Y'know..." He started, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You can kiss me again if you'd like." He let go of his braid and grabbed the bottle of room temperature soda from the nightstand, twisting off the cap and sipping the last of his Grape Panta.

"Hm?" Rantaro snapped out of his trance. "What?"

"You heard me." Kokichi smirked, holding the bottle up as he eyed the trash can near the desk in his room. "Unless... you want me to initiate it?!" He gasped, eyes never leaving the trash can.

Rantaro furrowed his brows. "No, I actually didn't hear you. What did you say?" He asked, watching as Kokichi launched the bottle forward. It arched high into the air and landed into the trashcan with ease.

Kokichi snickered victoriously, bringing a hand to his lips as his purple eyes turned to Rantaro. "Oh, it's nothing! Don't worry about it~!"

Rantaro thought for a moment. What was there to initiate? His eyes stared intently at Kokichi's hand. They then moved to what was partially hidden behind it. "Do you want me to kiss you again?" He asked.

"Nishishishi!" He moved his hand to his cheek, resting his face against his knuckles. "Do you want to kiss me again?" He asked. "I saw you staring, y'know~"

Rantaro gulped, scratching the back of his neck in a sheepish manner. "Was I really?" He laughed in a sort of nervous fashion. He watched as Kokichi nodded. "My bad."

"I didn't take you as the type to be interested in a guy like me!" He gasped once again, batting his eyelashes as he leaned forward. He puckered his lips, making annoying kissing noises at Rantaro.

"I'm not," The green-haired boy rolled his eyes playfully, lightly pushing away Kokichi's face. He watched with amusement as Kokichi pouted, letting out an indignant huff as he crossed his arms and whipped his head to the side. "I've just never kissed anyone before." He decided to approach this as honestly as he could. After all, he was caught- might as well come clean. "It felt surprisingly good. I guess I was thinking about it."

"You've never kissed anyone...?" Kokichi asked, drawling out the last syllable. Rantaro nodded. Kokichi grinned. "Wow! I feel so honored to have your first kiss!"

"What about you?" Rantaro questioned.

Kokichi laughed quietly. "Wouldn't you like to know?" He winked. "How about..." He lifted his face off of his knuckles, moving his hand in front of him to examine his nails with a nonchalant expression. "I answer you if... you answer me!"

That didn't sound too bad. "Sure." Rantaro nodded in agreement. "What was the question again?"

"Oh, nothing, really," He smirked, purple eyes moving to gaze mischievously at Rantaro. "I was just wondering if you wanted to kiss me again."

Rantaro gulped. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't interested in the idea. But it wasn't as if he could just say that to Kokichi...

...Could he?

As Rantaro thought about what to say, Kokichi was starting to get impatient. He moved his hand to his side, pouting at Rantaro. "Just kiss me already!" He exclaimed. "Jeez!"

Rantaro laughed. "You sound like Akamatsu-san when you say that."

"M-mentioning another girl while you're with me-?!" In an instant, crocodile tears started pouring out of his eyes. "Y-you're so mean!!! Wahhh!!!" He wailed.

"You wanna answer my question now?" Rantaro asked. He wasn't all that interested in it when he initially asked, but the way that Kokichi sneaked his way past the question had definitely intrigued him.

The crocodile tears vanished without a trace. "Nope!" Kokichi grinned.

A hum left Rantaro's lips. He furrowed his brows as he thought. "Was that a no to you answering my old question or was that a no to the new question?"

"Nishishi! How about you quit stalling and find out~" He teased, pointing to his lips.

Rantaro shrugged. What was the worst that could happen?

Without a word he leaned forward, placing his palm against Kokichi's thigh as he closed his eyes and planted another kiss on his lips. This time, his lips tasted a little like the overly sweet Panta he had drank a few minutes prior. Rantaro didn't particularly like the drink by itself; tasting it on Kokichi's lips had started to make him reconsider his stance on the sugary drink, however.

Kokichi eagerly returned the favor as he had the first time, gripping the sleeve of Rantaro's loose fitting shirt (he had changed sometime earlier during the day) as he leaned forward and deepened the kiss.

Rantaro's heartbeat picked up as their lips moved against one another, and when a small noise escaped Kokichi's lips (he wasn't even sure what the noise was- a gasp? a hum?), a jolt coursed through his body strong enough for him to pull back from the kiss.

Now that the two were apart, Rantaro realized just how short of breath he was. He looked at Kokichi to see his reaction- it was a neutral expression. (He was either really good at maintaining his breath or really good at hiding the fact that he wasn't- he didn't seem to be short of breath at all).

Suddenly, Kokichi's signature teasing grin made it's appearance. "Wow, are you sure you haven't kissed anyone?" He was still leaning forward, batting his eyelashes at Rantaro. "I thought that was pretty good."

"I'm sure." Rantaro nodded. "And thanks,"

"Well, of course, what would I know?" Kokichi crossed his arms behind his head, allowing himself to fall backwards onto the bed. "An Ultimate Supreme Leader like me usually doesn't have time for romance!" He winked at Rantaro. "Consider yourself lucky."

He finally got his answer. "Whatever you say," Rantaro chuckled slightly as he lay down alongside Kokichi. He thought about earlier in the morning, how he had woken up to find the smaller boy curled up against him, sleeping without a care in the world.

He glanced over to Kokichi, only to make eye contact with his friend. The purple-haired boy had turned over on his side so he was fully facing Rantaro. He couldn't quite describe the look directed at him, but he found it cute. It made his heart flutter a little.

"You can come here if you want," Rantaro offered, turning on his side to face Kokichi.

"Hm?" Kokichi leaned his head deeper into his pillow.

"When I woke up, you were in my arms." He explained. "If you liked it then I don't mind doing it again."

The corners of Kokichi's lips contorted into a smirk. "And who's to say that it was me who initiated the embrace? You could've been the one to grab me for all you know."

"Ah," Rantaro blinked. "I guess you're right about that."

"Wow, Amami-chan," The smaller of the two rolled his eyes. "Since you want me so badly, I guess I don't have a choice," Kokichi scooted closer to Rantaro, the former letting out a content hum as he felt the latter wrap his arms around him and pull him closer. "Consider yourself extra lucky~" He nuzzled his head against Rantaro's chest as he curled up slightly. "Goodnight~!"

Rantaro brought a hand up to Kokichi's head, slowly and smoothly stroking his fingers through his hair. "Believe me, I do," He mumbled, closing his eyes. "Goodnight."

Both of them slept good that night.

Author's Note: Sorry this came out a little later in the day! I hit a bit of a writer's block and wrote most of this today. I also got a boyfriend today??? I'm still in shock, but I'm glad. Another little random note, whenever I make stories that involve someone's house, I always imagine what the house is like and try to remake it on Roblox. It's really fun! I tried recreating Rantaro's house and so far it's good! I suck at decorating though, so maybe I should just stick to writing for now...
