Chapter 4
Kokichi had never felt so... bad in his life.
Not bad as in guilty- the supreme leader never felt guilt for any of his actions. This bad was felt more in the physical sense.
One second he was getting on Miu's nerves like he usually did, and the next second his soul had ejected itself into the astral realm as his body got screwed over by the forces of gravity combined with the incredibly hard school walls and floor. (Leave it to the most prestigious school in Japan to be so structurally sound, dammit.)
The rest of the day's events were a blur. Sure, he faintly recalls that his vision had gone white a few times- but had he actually fallen unconscious at some point in time?
The only thing Kokichi knew for certain was that it was Rantaro who had helped him. He vaguely remembers his classmate carrying him out of the school. Had he been carried all the way to his house? He also thinks he remembers Rantaro feeding him something (He couldn't remember what exactly he had eaten if his life depended on it- all he knew was that it was really good.), but it was so strange and dream-like that Kokichi wasn't sure if he had just imagined it.
The start of what he does remember happened sometime during the previous night- after sleeping for so long during the day, Kokichi found himself wide awake at one point, tossing and turning underneath the incredibly soft covers. A soft grunt from behind him made him instantly freeze up. His breath hitched in his throat as he slowly turned around.
Laying right next to him was most definitely Rantaro Amami- arm haphazardly stretched out as he lightly snored. It was too dark to see his face clearly, but the curls in his hair and facial structure were all too familiar to Kokichi.
The supreme leader held still, waiting for Rantaro to say or do something. After a minute or so with no response, Kokichi let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, allowing his head to sink further into the pillow. (The bed was so comfortable and for what? Everything from the covers to the pillows to the mattress itself had no business being this high quality. Just what kind of luxurious life was Rantaro living?)
Although he remembers this next part as clear as day, Kokichi couldn't recall why he had done what he did. But yet, he's able to recall his fingers clenching the pillow as he bit his lip, hesitating briefly before scooting closer to Rantaro, who didn't seem to notice his advances.
Kokichi slithered his way under Rantaro's arm with ease, nuzzling his head against his chest as he closed his eyes. Rantaro, who he had presumed was still asleep, stirred slightly, but made no motion to push his friend away. Instead, he did the opposite- Kokichi is definitely able to recall the arm around him suddenly pulling him in closer.
Perhaps there wasn't a reason at all as to why he did what he did that night.
It didn't really matter though, did it? The previous night had long since passed and made way to the present day- an annoyingly bright morning that perturbed Kokichi. He almost didn't notice Rantaro's absence from the bed, but when he did he wasn't the least bit surprised. The day had probably long since started, and Rantaro was probably at school.
The bed was so comfortable. Unnecessarily so. A part of Kokichi wanted to fall right back asleep and stay there forever. As he closed his eyes to do just that, it was in that very moment that Kokichi finally became aware of the fact that he had slept in his school uniform. He had much preferred wearing his old all white high school uniform, but he didn't necessarily mind the light brown shades of the Hopes Peak Uniform. What he did mind, however, was how uncomfortable his blazer and tie had made him feel- the polar opposite of how Rantaro's bed felt.
Kokichi sat up, only to immediately fall back down as a groan escaped his lips. For a moment, he had forgotten that the reason he was at Rantaro's house in the first place was because he had slammed the living hell out of his head just the other day. Big mistake.
A low whine left Kokichi as he sat up once again, much slower than he had the first time. He (reluctantly) stood up from the bed, cradling the back of his head with his hands as he glanced around the room. Immediately, his purple eyes landed upon the nightstand, adorned with a glass of water, a pill, and a little note.
In an instant, Kokichi had popped the painkiller (at least, what he assumed was a painkiller) in his mouth, grabbing the glass cup and taking a few generous sips. He grabbed the note while he drank, waving it around a little as he read the message left for him.
Bathroom is the first door to the left. I left a robe and towel on the bed for you to use. Feel free to use whatever's in my closet. Kitchen is behind the stairs and to the right. If you need anything call for Fuyumisa. No matter how quietly you say her name she'll always appear. Kind of like Toujou-san.
- Rantaro
The handwriting was a bit squished together, yet still managed to look good. It fit Rantaro. Kokichi set the cup down and looked at the bed. True to his word, there had been a towel and a robe folded neatly on the corner of the bed (how hadn't he noticed that?), waiting for Kokichi to use.
"What kind of rich kid shit is this...?" Kokichi grumbled to himself, running his fingers across the fluffy robe. It felt so good, Kokichi momentarily wondered why he hadn't come here before.
He took the articles in his hands- he was planning to take off some of his school uniform anyways; might as well take Rantaro up on his unspoken offer and take a shower. (Which actually sounded nice right about now.)
:) (Wattpad give me my line breaks please it's all I want)
Similar to Rantaro's room, the bathroom was neat and had a lavish air to it- save for the half of the shower shelf lined with overly pink and pretty objects. (He was incredibly confused at first, until he remembered that Rantaro mentioned something about being an older brother.) It definitely added a little humor to the atmosphere, and for a moment he briefly considered using one of the childish products, before deciding to go with Rantaro's stuff. (Kokichi knew it was his because it smelled like him, but since when did he know what Rantaro smelled like?)
The towel was soft and the robe had felt even better once Kokichi had actually put it on. He made his way back to Rantaro's room and immediately made himself at home, tossing his uniform into the laundry basket and opening the closet as if it were his own.
Naturally, the first thing Kokichi does is immediately reach into the back of the closet. He was nosy and he was bored, of course he'd be putting his nose where it didn't belong. It was also cozy and dark- light enough so he could see thanks to the sunlight filtering in through the curtains. It helped to soothe his aching head, sitting in Rantaro's closet and picking out the most random articles of clothing.
One of the more notable things he found in the closet was a shoebox full of many different scraps of paper- some were notes from what he presumed were his sisters (there was a lot of different handwriting; just how many sisters did he have?) while others were newspaper clippings surrounding the same foreign land.
He didn't give it much of his attention though, immediately putting it back and pulling out a pink, frilly dress instead. This definitely belonged to Rantaro, given the size and the smell of it. Kokichi wasted no time putting it on, exiting the closet and standing in front of the full length mirror in the room. He laughed harder than he should've as he spun around and admired himself. Surprisingly enough, it fit him just perfectly- naturally he wondered how small it'd look on Rantaro. (Kokichi would definitely find a way to use this as blackmail.)
After having his fun with the dress, Kokichi had finally settled on something to actually wear. A striped blue shirt with a wheel-like pattern on the bottom right. Although their torsos were around the same size length-wise, Rantaro was definitely more broad than Kokichi, which proved to be true when Kokichi put on the shirt and the neckline slid down and exposed his shoulder.
To finish the look, he wore some plaid pajama sweatpants with a comfortable elastic waistband that helped the pants to actually fit around his waist. He cuffed the bottoms up so they fit better. It didn't come as a surprise to Kokichi that the pants were too long, considering that Rantaro's legs were definitely bigger than his. He opted to stay barefoot, only to come to the realization that when he woke up he didn't have any shoes on. (He didn't see them in the room- they were probably at the front of the house.)
The rest of Kokichi's day was mostly uneventful after that. Being the nosy kid he was, Kokichi decided he'd take after the Ultimate Adventurer whose house he was staying at and have a little adventure of his own around the house. As he expected, the house was very large and nicely furnished. He never thought of Rantaro as a rich kid until today- but now that he knew, it made a strange kind of sense.
Much to Kokichi's dismay, he found nothing out of the ordinary- aside from the time when he turned the corner and ran into a woman around Rantaro's height and nearly pissed himself from the sudden surprise. So that was the elusive Fuyumisa who Rantaro had mentioned in his note! What a pleasant surprise!
After a bit of casual conversation with her, Kokichi soon found himself back in Rantaro's room, lounging on his bed and dozing off. Today had been a bit too plain for his tastes. What day even was it today? Friday? He grinned to himself, knowing he'd have all weekend to bug Rantaro. Or maybe he'd get kicked out by then. The dull pounding in the back of his head mixed with his boredom led him to take a nap. (Sleep came incredibly easily with how comfortable Rantaro's bed was. Seriously, it must've been made from clouds or something.)
Kokichi was hoping that Rantaro would be back by the time he woke up. So, naturally, when he heard the sound of children giggling, he woke up a bit confused. Slowly opening his eyes, the last thing he expected to see were the three girls who were in the room with him- two of them up against the bed looking at him with excited eyes, while another was a bit further back.
"Airi! Airi!" Eri grinned grabbing her sister's shoulder and shaking her. "He's awake!"
"Are you Ranty-nii's boyfriend?" Airi asked, leaning forward alongside her twin sister.
Itsuki leaned against a wall nearby, a sigh escaping her lips as she watched with a smile.
Kokichi blinked a few times, taking a moment to look at the three new people in the room. They looked to be elementary students, and the only semblance any of them had to Rantaro were the green eyes of the two girls next to him. Suddenly, a grin broke out on his face as he folded his hands behind his head, intertwining his fingers. "Wow! You guessed it! How'd you know?" He asked.
The two girls squealed. Loudly.
Itsuki flinched slightly.
Kokichi felt the headache in the back of his head start to grow. It hurt a little bit, but if a little pain meant he wouldn't be bored anymore, then hey, he'd take what he could get.
~2k Words
This was a bit of a filler chapter- I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted a cuddle scene and for Kokichi to meet some of the siblings, so I just wrote a bit of everything! Once again, next update will be in 6 days instead of 3, as I thought of a really good idea for a Saimatsu/Kaimaki (or Momoharu, whatever it's called. Isn't there a third name?) April Fool's fic that I'm itching to write! Look out for it if you'd be interested! (And no, it's not an April Fool's joke.)
